Surrounded by rolling countryside and nestled at the bottom of a lush, tree-covered hill is charming and comfortable Villa Jordao. As well as boasting a rural setting, the town of Sesimbra and its sandy beach are just a 10-minute drive from this relaxed holiday home.
Featuring a typical Portuguese look and feel throughout, this villa has an abundance of beautiful wood furnishings and traditional floorings for an elegant sense of refinement. There’s also a very restful atmosphere here, which is especially apparent as you enjoy Villa Jordao’s terraces and comfortable outside spaces.
On the ground floor is a spacious living room with doors opening straight out onto the terrace. It’s a wonderfully cosy place, with a selection of comfortable sofas and armchairs positioned around a large fireplace. There’s also a television for snuggling up with the family and watching films together. In the corner of the room is a small table with chairs for enjoying drinks before dinner.
Steps take you up into the dining room with an antique table that seats up to six people. There’s another fireplace here, making it a hot and welcoming space on colder nights. The fully-equipped kitchen caters for your every need, with a variety of amenities to make preparing and cooking meals leisurely. It’s a family-friendly kitchen with a breakfast bar for sitting and chatting over a glass of juice in the mornings. Also on this floor is a convenient laundry room.
To the first floor are four bright and airy bedrooms. The master bedroom features a double bed, ensuite bathroom and a balcony terrace offering stunning sea views. Another bedroom has a double bed as well as a sofa bed that’s suitable for one child. The third bedroom features two single beds that can be converted into a double, with the fourth also having two single beds. The fourth bedroom also features a small bed for accommodating an additional child.
Around the villa is a partially-covered terrace with outdoor seating and dining areas for enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and views over the garden. An especially lovely area is the outdoor kitchen space where you’ll find a built-barbecue and table for al fresco dining. Within the lawned garden guests will find a private swimming pool and a selection of sun loungers.
What you should know…
- Not all bedrooms have ensuite facilities, but there’s a lovely family bathroom for all to use
- The swimming pool is unfenced, so take extra caution with younger children
- Having a car is advised, due to the villa’s rural location

About the surrounding area of Villa JordaoThe town of Sesimbra is just a 10-minute drive away from Villa Jordao, with all its amenities and things to do. Closer to the villa are a couple of restaurants and cafés, as well as a supermarket. All are within a five-minute drive, making it easy to head out for evening meals and stock up on groceries.
Also, just a five-minute drive from the villa is Castelo de Sesimbra, a Moorish castle that impressively sits high above Sesimbra itself. Within the fort are battlements, a picturesque church and a small museum. There’s also a café serving drinks and snacks. Climb to the top of the castle for spectacular views over Sesimbra town and the azure-tinged sea.
You can reach the heart of Sesimbra in just 10 minutes by car. Once a humble fishing village, Sesimbra is now a popular resort with plenty to offer. It lies within a sheltered bay and boasts a beautiful beach with calm waters in which to swim safely. Try some delicious seafood when you visit one of the town’s waterfront restaurants for lunch, and you won’t be disappointed. Also, enjoy Sesimbra’s laidback atmosphere as you stroll around its winding streets and stop for a drink on a relaxed café terrace.
Another great place to visit is Parque Natural da Arrábida, which is just a 15-minute drive from the villa. Here the whole family can explore a natural wilderness that’s also a protected area. This expansive park is home to beaches, chalk cliffs, a mountain range and many historical sites, including a 16th-century convent.

THE REGION
Set on a curving turquoise bay just 40 km south of Lisbon, Sesimbra is both an attractive fishing town and a popular tourist resort within easy reach of the capital. Sesimbra is one of the finest beach resorts in Portugal. It is adored by the Portuguese who flock to the region for their holidays, drawn by the pristine beached, relaxed atmosphere and outstanding seafood restaurants.
Near Sesimbra, there are the beaches of the Arrábida Natural Park, which are considered among the most beautiful beaches in Portugal. The most famous one is Praia do Figueirinha, a long sandy shore kissed by calm and crystalline waters.
The outstanding beaches and tourist attractions make Sesimbra an enjoyable family holiday. Around the region, there is much to visit, like Cabo Espichel headland or a scenic drive through the Arrabida hills and a visit to the paradise beaches of the Portinho de Arrabida.

Best Suited For: All AgesVilla Jordao offers plenty for families with children. Swimming and playing in the private pool are sure to be popular with children of all ages, as is enjoying a few games of table football.
The garden is ripe for exploration, with trees offering dark spaces for sitting quietly and lawns for kicking a ball around.
Around a 30-minute drive north is Splash Seixal, a lively waterpark that’s a great place to take the whole family for a fun day out.
There are lots of inflatables, slides and pools for the children to enjoy, with outdoor showers to cool off and loungers for relaxing on.

Highly recommend!
Really loved our stay at Villa Jordao. Beautiful private villa that felt more like we were staying at a friends holiday home. The pool was a great size and there were lots of places to have coffee/meals and olay cards and chess etc. Highly recommend!
