A large swathe of natural parkland between the town of Sintra and the Atlantic Ocean is where you’ll find Villa Equilibrio. This beautiful landscape is also a UNESCO world heritage site. Within walking distance of a beach and no less than six golf courses within driving distance, this villa with private pool is all about location.
Villa Equilibrio sleeps up to twelve lucky guests in five bedrooms. There are two double en-suite bedrooms, and the remaining beds are split between three bedrooms and comprise two sets of bunks beds and four singles. This arrangement makes it ideally suited to two large families sharing a holiday. The interior décor is bright and welcoming, with large windows in all rooms allowing the light to flood in.
Villa Equilibrio feels like a home away from home, with plenty of space for everyone to relax, eat and socialise together. Much of the downstairs area is open-plan with a living room, breakfast room and dining room all inter-connecting. The large kitchen is well appointed, and you have a further lounge and dining room.
There are numerous floor-ceiling glazed doors through which you can step outside to discover your generous outdoor space. The lawned garden wraps around the end of the villa, meeting your delightful tiled terrace at one side. Here, the shade from the canopy will prove irresistible for a cooling afternoon drink, and the dining table is sheltered from the sun by a pergola and beautiful greenery. If you’re looking for a serene spot for al fresco dinners, you’ve found it.
Your private pool is waiting for you at the bottom of the garden. Enjoy your pool-side sun deck, sun loungers and umbrellas while the kids splash and swim their way through the afternoon. There are steps to lower you into the open water when the time comes to cool off. Or jump in!
If you can drag yourself away from the delights of Villa Equilibrio, it’s just six hundred metres to a beautiful sandy beach, restaurants and water sports. For days out, you’re spoilt for choice. The picturesque town of Sintra, Cascais’ marina and the city of Lisbon are all within easy reach. This private villa is the ideal base for a fabulous holiday in Portugal.

This charming and spacious villa provides an ideal base for exploring the surrounding countryside.There are 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, and it can accommodate up to 12 people (although, ideally this should be 8 adults and 4 children, due to the two bunkbeds).

About the surrounding area of Villa EquilibrioVilla Equilibrio’s location couldn’t be more perfect. Set within an area of outstanding natural beauty and importance, Parque Natural de Sintra-Cascais is a UNESCO world heritage site. And you’re only six hundred metres to the beach!
Praia das Macas is a sandy beach, lined with beach bars and restaurants to help everyone through the day. The invigorating Atlantic Ocean makes surfing a favourite activity here, with lots of surfing schools or centres for hiring equipment to help you join in the fun.
The twenty-minute drive to the pretty town of Sintra takes you to the eastern edge of the nature park. Nestled amongst pine-tree clad hills and dotted with castles and old palaces, Sintra is famed for being picturesque and the historic home to Portugal’s rich and powerful.
As well as the castles, mansions and elaborate gardens, you can explore the cobbled streets of the town centre and dine in one of the many fine restaurants which attract ‘gastro’ tourists to Sintra from all over Portugal.
Another day trip efficiently planned from Villa Equilibrio is Lisbon. In less than an hour, you can reach Portugal’s capital city. Culture vultures will need more than one day to do justice to the must-see arts, history and archaeology. Jeronimos Monastery (another world heritage site!), St. George’s Castle, the Berardo Museum and Sao Roque Church is to name but a few!
Families could start at Parque das Nascoes for modern architecture, world-class aquarium and waterfront promenade. After lunch, tired legs could take the number 28 tram through this fascinating city or hop on and off the open top bus tour.
Golfers are also spoilt for choice. Of the six golf courses within twenty to forty minutes’ drive from Villa Equilibrio, Quinta da Marinha and Oitavos are amongst them. Back at base, everyone can share the day’s memories while relaxing beside Villa Equilibrio private pool and later, around the al fresco dining table.

THE REGION
Thinking about packing your bags and heading off to Portugal? Why not give Colares a go? A real gem of a place, it’s one of the best spots on the Lisbon Coast for a holiday. Colares is absolutely delightful and has long been a very popular summer resort.
In the environs of Colares are the beaches of Praia das Maças, Praia Grande and Adraga, and the typical village of Azenhas do Mar, with its whitewashed houses inset in the side of a cliff.
Colares is also a demarcated wine-growing region, producing the very popular and increasingly rare Colares wine, which can be tasted at the Adega Regional, in a very beautiful building in the town centre.

Best Suited For: All AgesIf you’re planning a holiday with another family, Villa Equilibrio is ideal. The villa has two double en-suite bedrooms and three bedrooms which can accommodate eight children! Your private pool and garden will keep kids of all ages entertained all afternoon, and there’s even a games room with table football.
Your nearest beach is within walking distance. Along the seafront, you’ll also find restaurants, beach bars and surfing schools. Further afield, there are three-day trips you can take the family on from Villa Equilibrio.
Twenty minutes’ drive and you can be in Sintra, renowned for fabulous restaurants and historic palaces. The marina at Cascais is just twenty-two kilometres away and, of course, there’s Lisbon. Portugal’s capital city is also less than an hour’s drive from Villa Equilibrio.

Lovely family holiday
Villa Equilibrio was in a great location. near lovely surfing beaches and only a 45 min drive from Lisbon. Easy access to Sintra and wonderful hiking areas,. great seafood restaurants, No superstores very close although in 20 mins there are big supermarkets just outside Sintra. We used the Supermercado Atlantico in Colares and the supermarket at the souldough pizza place. at Aldeia. within walking distance. Nice people and nice vibes everywhere. We were a party of 8 with a baby and the lovely Villa catered well for all our needs. Lovely modern furnishings and very comfortable beds. Enjoy

Fantastic family spot
1. Great location – very close to Sintra (by car or by bus) and a 10min walk to the beach. A few great restaurants nearby – pizza and sushi in the glamping, restaurants on Praya Grande and so on. You can easily drive for a trip to Cascais and Guincho beach.
2. Well decorated, spacious house, with nice surroundings and garden. We enjoyed the pool (for fun rather than for real swimming).

A nice house. Great for a big family. Furnished with great taste. The rooms are good and very functional. The living rooms are great The kitchen is very well equipped. The garden is very well kept. The owner is very kind. I strongly recommend it.

Nice villa in quiet location
We were 6 adult and 3 kids and rented 2 weeks in middle of Juli. Nice villa, quiet location with beach, restaurants and small supermarket in short walking distance. Market with fresh fish also really close, we grilled fish and vegetables in the BBQ. The house is itself is good, spacious and well planned, but not in mint condition, in the lower bedrooms there is some (discreet) damp smell and old signs of moisture damage. There could have have been more kitchen stuff like glass etc, we miss the table tennis and football game. Over all impression is though good, we had a couple of nice weeks. With some smaller improvements a fifth star is possible.

Nice Villa very near quiet beach & town
We were 6 adults and 5 children who lived comfortably in the villa for 1 week. We chose to walk/hike to most places: beaches, restaurants, Tram stop, town and the location of the villa was convenient for us to do so. The house had most amenities needed for our stay, including washer & dryer. The host was very friendly & quickly resolved any small issues that arose during our stay. The outside living area was perfect for our group and the large table hosted many summer evening dinners. The pool is very nice amenity, especially for children. We would like to suggest some additional mugs, glasses, and silverware for a villa that hosts 10+ people. Additional keys would have made it more convenient when we broke off into groups for day trips with differing return times. Screens on the windows (for night-time) is an added suggestion. Really - A great house and great location for a reunion of friends!
