Villa Chenes is set atop the hills of Serra de Grândola, 8 km from the charming town of Melides on the Atlantic coast. A hidden gem, this hilltop villa boasts 360º views, comprising over 80 kilometres of the Atlantic coastline!
If you manage to draw yourselves away from the serenity of this contemporary villa, then the local area has endless things to offer. It is just 13 kilometres from the beautiful Aberta Nova Beach, considered to be one of the prettiest in the area.
Melides has been one of Portugal’s best-kept secrets, but it is no longer the case, with its stunning beaches and sparkling sand dunes drawing in more visitors year after year. A thriving creative community of sculptors, artists, architects and musicians have moved in, adding vibrancy and charm to this already beautiful area. A sleepy hamlet no more, Melides now plays host to delicious restaurants, serving local wines alongside outstanding menus. Surrounded by nature, this is the perfect base for exploring the great outdoors and soaking in the natural delights of Portugal.
Nearby to Melides and the villa is the Herdade da Comporta, comprised of seven tranquil villages, including Muda, Carvalhal, Comporta, Brejos da Carregueira, Carrasqueira, Possanco and Sol Troia. Each offers its own unique charms, and we would recommend visiting them all!

The Region
Comporta is surrounded by rice paddies, the ocean, sand dunes and pine forests. It's a unique place where you can connect with nature and live in the moment. Comporta has a rhythm and an ambience that are all it's own. This wild and unspoilt part of Portugal attracts an in-the-know international crowd, including renowned artists, designers, and A-listers.
Comporta has a remarkable diversity of natural systems with long stretches of beach, windswept dunes, scenic pine forests, salt marshes and rice paddies which become a vibrant green in June. The region is also characterized by rice fields and its main attraction, the Comporta beach: 20 kilometres of uninterrupted white sand, a beach lover’s paradise.
As with the rest of Portugal, you can expect sun-blessed weather year-round in Comporta. The best months of the year to visit Comporta for long beach stays are from June to September, while the spring and autumn months are still suitable for picnics or day trips.
ABOUT THE LISBON COAST
The Lisbon Coast is a sensational stretch of golden beaches, wave-lashed cliffs and vibrant seaside towns – but there's more to the Atlantic coastline than that. Delve beneath the surface to discover hidden coves, family-owned seafood restaurants and pristine natural parks.
The coast around Lisbon provides an easy, breezy escape from the capital, whose proximity has made it the stomping ground of kings for the last 1,000 years. In summer, Lisboistas stream into elegant Comporta and Cascais to escape the heat of the city; year-round, surfers hang loose on the coast, waiting for the rollers to crash down on the sand.
But while you're enjoying one of our fantastic villas on Lisbon Coast, you may well want to take some time out from all that sun worship to explore everything else the region has to offer – so we've put together this handy travel guide to give you a little help and inspiration!
