Location
About the surrounding area of Villa LunVisitors to the sun-drenched shores of Pag are unlikely to forget the rocky, moonlike landscapes and shimmering turquoise coastline that make this island a truly unique gem in the Adriatic Sea. The invigorating bora winds have shaped Pag’s stunning beaches and the majestic Velebit mountains in the distance. The island is conveniently connected to mainland Croatia by the Pag Bridge and a frequent ferry service. However, once you have crossed over to Pag’s sloping, soft-pink hills, endless olive groves and secluded, sunny beaches, you will find yourself transported to an idyllic island with a laidback lifestyle, vibrant coastal towns and a wealth of natural beauty to enjoy.
Bright yellow immortelle flowers grow wild all over Pag Island, with a heady fragrance that combines with the sea salt in the air. Plenty of beautiful, remote beaches are located in the bays which stretch from the Lun Peninsula towards the popular town of Novalja, as well as in the areas of Kustići, Zubovići, and Metajna. Straško Beach is approximately twelve minutes from Villa Lun by car, while the fine pebbles and crystal-clear waters of Ručica Beach are around twenty-five minutes away from the villa. The warm, shallow cove at Planjka Trinćel, only a six-minute drive away, is popular with families, while the beaches at Babe, Delfinka and Šimuni are just a few more of the enchanting coastal wonders you will find yourself exploring on the shores of Pag.
For those who wish to soak up the island’s lively nightlife, Zrće Beach is a famous Croatian party destination, where there is music and dancing late into the night. In the seaside town of Novalja, a ten-minute drive away, visitors will find a wide range of activities to enjoy, from fantastic gastronomic experiences to music festivals, watersports and boat tours. From the charming streets of Pag’s old town, you can visit the Pag Lace Museum to learn about the intricacies of the island’s ancient craft. Admire the fifteenth-century Church of the Assumption before making your way towards Gligora Dairy, where foodies will be in cheese heaven after a guided tour and a tasting session. Intimate vineyard tours and wine tastings are also available on the island.
For a day trip to remember, the quirky seaside streets of the famous city of Zadar are just over an hour’s drive away from Villa Lun. Here, the Cathedral of St. Anastasia, the magical installation known as the Salutation to the Sun and the musical Sea Organ make Zadar a special city with plenty to offer its visitors.
Adventure seekers will be excited to learn that Pag is also home to ‘Life on Mars’, a breathtaking hiking destination. The four designated trekking trails encompass sixteen kilometres of spectacular coastal scenery. Meanwhile, there are several marked trails which lead from the beach at Kolan to Sveti Vid, the island’s highest peak, offering panoramic views of Pag and its neighbouring islands, as well as dreamlike sunset vistas. The peak can also be reached by car via a newly constructed road from Šimuni.

Owner Profile
How long have you owned the property?
3 years.
What was it about the property that you first fell in love with?
We were captivated by the views and mesmerizing sunsets the villaoffers. The serene atmosphere and fresh air, accompanied by the fragrance of immortelle plants, made us fall in love with the property instantly. It was as if we had discovered a hidden gem that provided a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. We knew right away that this was a place where we could truly unwind and reconnect with nature, and we wanted to share this experience with others.
Are there any interesting stories in its history?
The area used to be a rugged, rocky terrain and was renowned for its sheep farming, and it's still possible to see the ancient stone walls that were used to mark off individual plots of land. The area was once used for grazing, and the local people had a deep connection to the land and animals. Today, we honor this history by preserving the natural beauty of the area and creating a space for guests to connect with nature, the area has been revived and transformed into a luxurious destination for visitors looking to experience the untouched beauty of the island of Pag.
Do you have a favourite room in the property?
When it comes to our favourite room in the property, we have to say that it's hard to pick just one! But, on sunny days, there's nothing quite like spending time on our terrace by the pool. The views of the surrounding mountains and nearby islands are simply breathtaking. On the other hand, if the weather isn't cooperating, we love spending time on the spa and entertainment floor. There, you'll find a billiard room, wine cellar, a Playstation 5, and a sauna - everything you need for a cozy and relaxing day indoors.
For anyone coming to stay is there anything in the surrounding area they should...
Really do?
One of the best experiences is chartering a boat and exploring the island (or nearby islands), where you can find hidden beaches and crystal clear waters. For the adventurous hikers, the Life on Mars trail is a must-try, with views of the Velebit mountain range and the sea. For those who prefer a more leisurely pace, renting bikes and cruising around the island is a fun and relaxing way to take in the beautiful scenery.
Really eat?
Guests should definitely try the famous Pag cheese, made from the milk of sheep that graze on the island's unique vegetation. The island's lamb and seafood are also must-try dishes, with many local restaurants offering delicious and fresh options. Don't forget to pair your meal with a glass of local wine or a traditional Pag herbal brandy.
Really see?
The Lun olive garden is a great place to visit and learn about the history of olive oil production on the island. It is home to over 80,000 olive trees, some of which are over a thousand years old. Guests can take a guided tour to learn about the history and cultivation of these ancient trees. A need-to see gems are aswell pristine beaches, such as Rucica and Potocnica.
What insider tip would you pass on about the property or the area?
There are plenty of things to do on the island and the property, but the real insider tip is to take a moment for yourself, take a pause from your daily routine and fully immerse in the fresh air and the fragrant scent of the immortelle plant, which is known for its medicinal and therapeutic properties, or even try our “immortelle soak” package, where we fill your jacuzzi with immortelle hydrolat, which rejuvenates and stimulates your senses.
