My Home Adriona is a place of staggering beauty, opulent finishes, incredible views, no-end of luxury – just the place to make you feel incredibly special! This amazing four bedroom, entrancing villa was designed for eight guests that adore tradition yet appreciate pure unadulterated luxury. Located in Kotisina, a small village in Makarska, it is situated between Split and Dubrovnik. Makarska is Croatia’s secret seaside with glorious beaches, backed by fragrant pinewoods overlooking the glistening turquoise sea. Under the majestic mountain Biokovo, with awe-inspiring views of Hvar, Brac and the azure sea, it takes your breath away.

Two sisters from Dalmatia embarked on this project to design an authentic rustic villa with interiors that looked just like their grandparent’s old home. They wanted to express beauty, tradition, untouched nature and luxury but with a modern mix. They well and truly succeeded! This elegant villa exudes everything they hoped for and also tranquillity. It radiates traditional charm. In many ways it is understated but at the same time, it has so many gorgeous finishing touches you can see that the sisters have poured love and devotion into it.

The marvellous pool area is blended with nature and lush Mediterranean vegetation. Many rocks, olive trees, herbs and plants add to the luxurious surroundings. Natural wooden sculptures take pride of place. It is just heavenly!

The stone villa interior and rustic furniture remind you of old castles. The furniture is mostly restored antique pieces which add to the original feel and strong personality of the villa. Every space is cleverly calm. Everything is there to make you feel pampered from the cigar bar, wine bar, wellness spa with sauna and relaxation beds, massage spa bath, a path for reflexology to the games room with billiards. The list is endless.

Each of the immaculate four bedrooms is named after plants – Lavendar, Immortelle, Olives and Tangerines and natural cosmetics made with the same plants will be left in the equally luxurious bathrooms. There are super strong showers, stone sinks, wooden beams, vaulted ceilings.

As might be expected, it is possible to arrange a full fridge on arrival, babysitting, a cook, wine tasting, massages or even to rent a yacht or a helicopter!

Excursions
A number of excursions are available to guests of My Home Adriona. Board a luxury speed boat and whiz around five Dalmatian Islands visiting a number of sites along the way, such as the infamous Blue Cave in Hvar and the historic town of Bol in Brac. A choice of safaris are on offer - why not take a jeep ride around the villages at the foot of Biokovo, or head up into the mountains and take in the beautiful surroundings and traditions of this area.

If you are interested in trying new wines, then a trip to Plenkovic Winery on Hvar is available and offers the opportunity to try local wines, take a dip in the sea and relax on the beach; the perfect combination! Or, if you would like to enjoy the natural beauty of the region, take a trip to the Blue and Red Lake in Imotski, where you can admire the lakes and stroll around the town. You can also visit the Skywalk in Biokovo and admire the breathtaking views from above - although this one may not suit those who don't like heights!

Have you wondered what it is like to hang over a canyon, or maybe conquer river rapids? Well if you have, then Cetina River Canyon is the place for you! This is the perfect trip for adreline-junkies wanting to explore the outdoors, and even better, there is the option to visit a traditional restaurant afterwards and enjoy the local cuisine!

Please enquire to find out more about the excursions available!

Location

About the surrounding area of My Home Adriona
Loading map

Magnificent My Home Adriona is set under the mountains amid breathtaking countryside and surrounded by olive groves and other Mediterranean herbs. It is an empire of peace and leaves you feeling tranquil and rested.

The charming hamlet Kotisina is on the slopes of Biokova, the second-highest mountain range in Croatia between the Cetina and Neretva rivers. It is about 2km from Makarska Town. Recently the hamlet began to archaeologically explore its distant past and several historical localities have been discovered including a sizeable keep called Veliki Kastel. The medieval Church of Saint Martin and Church of Saint Anthony have been revitalised partly funded by the European Union.

Running from Brela in the north and Gradac in the south, the Makarska Riviera is some 38 miles long. Makarska town is built around a deep sheltered bay. Its lovely main square is overlooked by the Baroque Church of St Mark and several elegant palazzi. Open-air restaurants and cafes serve incredible Dalmatian cuisine. There is a daily open-air market selling fruit and vegetables. The harbour is very attractive, again with many restaurants, and offers day trips to Jelsa on Hvar and Zlatni Rat Beach in Bol on Brac. Punta Rata, on the edge of Brela, is ideal for families as the seabed slopes gently into the shallow sea.

On the way to Brela, northwest along the coast, you pass Buba beach bar. It is very popular in the evenings with music and cocktails watching the sun go down.

Why not get in some hiking or mountain biking on the mountain? The highest peak, Sveti Jure has fantastic views across the sea to Italy and inland to the mountains of Bosnia.

Makarska is a 1 ½ hour drive from Split airport.

Region

Makarska, perched between the Biokovo mountain range and the glistening waters of the Adriatic Sea, is a stunning destination where nature's grandeur takes centre stage. The imposing mountains rise dramatically behind the town, creating a striking backdrop for the entire region. With its distinct Mediterranean climate, visitors can expect warm summers and mild winters, making it an ideal year-round destination.

The Riva - the town's seafront promenade - is a focal point of the community, where locals and visitors alike gather to soak up the Mediterranean atmosphere. Lined with palm trees and a variety of cafes, restaurants, and boutiques, the Riva is the perfect place to unwind, take in the scenic views of the sea and settle into the Croatian pace of life. As the sun sets over the Adriatic, Makarska comes alive with a vibrant nightlife scene. The Riva transforms into a lively hub of entertainment, with street performers, live music, DJ sets, and a chance to mingle with locals and fellow travellers.

If you're a history enthusiast, Makarska's rich heritage and historic sites will surely pique your interest. The Church of St. Mark, built in the early 18th century, stands as a testament to the region's strong Catholic tradition. The Baroque architecture and stunning altarpieces make it a notable religious landmark.

For a deeper dive into the past, the Makarska Franciscan Monastery, founded in the 16th century, houses an impressive collection of artefacts including ancient manuscripts and artwork. The monastery's cloister and church are architectural marvels in their own right. Within the complex, the Malacological Museum showcases an extensive collection of seashells, a testament to the region's maritime heritage.

The Makarska Riviera boasts a series of blue-flag beaches and crystal-clear waters, ensuring a perfect setting for relaxation and water activities. The most famous is the Makarska Beach itself, stretching for almost 2 kilometres and offering a plethora of water sports, sunbathing spots, and beachfront cafes. While sunbathing and swimming are the primary draws, you can also indulge in snorkelling, paddle-boarding, and jet skiing to experience the vibrant underwater world of the Adriatic.

Heading north along the Makarska Riviera, you’ll come to the town of Brela, famed for its pristine beaches. One of the best, Punta Rata, is often ranked among the most beautiful beaches in the world. The crystal-clear waters and the iconic Brela Rock jutting from the sea make it a picture-perfect spot for sunbathing and swimming.

The Biokovo Nature Park, often overshadowed by the coast, offers a different but equally wonderful experience. Here, the rugged mountain terrain allows for hiking, trekking, and adventure in the heart of nature. There are several well-marked trails that lead you through lush forests, up to the highest peak of Sveti Jure (St. George), providing breathtaking panoramic views of the Adriatic and the surrounding islands.

Day trips to nearby destinations are also a great way to explore the broader region. The islands of Hvar and Brač are easily accessible by ferry and make for fantastic day excursions. Hvar is known for its beautiful old town and lavender fields, while Brač is famous for the stunning Zlatni Rat beach.

This enchanting coastal region, characterised by its stunning beaches, rugged mountains, and vibrant atmosphere, is undoubtedly a place that leaves a lasting impression. It’s a must-visit for anyone looking to explore the diversity of the Dalmatian region. Whether you're a nature lover, history buff, or simply in search of a relaxing coastal escape, Makarska offers something for every traveller.
