Location
About the surrounding area of Trevone RetreatTrevone is a small charming village with a thriving community and lots of fetes and activities to enjoy in the summer months.
Trevone Bay has two lovely beaches surrounded by high cliffs on one side and big rocky ledges on the other. One of the beaches has golden sand and sheltered coves and the other is a must for those who like rock pools, crabs and fishing nets. Popular with surfers this small cove produces good waves from low to mid tide.
The cliffs to the north of the beach provide fantastic walks and views to Hawkers Cove, the Camel Estuary and beyond. Beware the ‘Blow Hole’ on the cliffs – a natural phenomenon which draws the crowds!
Less than two miles away is Padstow, the Cornish hotspot famous for its bustling harbour and fantastic restaurants. Padstow is a working fishing port, and the starting point of the Camel Cycle Trail. Enjoying a reputation as a foodie destination, Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant and Paul Ainesworth at No.6 sit at the top of the list of ‘must visit’ restaurants.
The Padstow Museum is home to an interesting collection of memorabilia giving an insight into the history of Padstow over the past two centuries. The picturesque harbour of Padstow is full of character and historical interest and has an eclectic mix of fisherman’s cottages and merchant’s houses The attractive harbour offers a range of boat trips from wildlife spotting to angling or just messing about on the water and enjoying the sunshine. You can even go out with a local fisherman. Also popular are the ferry trips over to the upmarket resort village of Rock, second home to many celebrities. The Black Tor passenger ferry takes around five to ten minutes to cross the river and runs throughout the year. From Rock, there are some wonderful walks along the coast to the spectacular beaches of Daymer Bay and Polzeath.
Harlyn and Constantine Bays are wonderful, Constantine Bay is gorgeous with one of the best surfing beaches in Cornwall and boasts a sweeping arc of gently shelving golden sand. The west-facing beach also offers delightful rock pools for children. The bay is separated from its neighbour, Booby’s Bay to the north by a thin rocky point and is bordered by a large rocky reef to the south.
The area is a golfing haven with the renowned courses of Trevose and Point at Polzeath also close by.
The inspirational Eden Project is only just over twenty miles away. Here you can trek through the world’s largest indoor rainforest and immerse yourselves in the calm fragrance of the Mediterranean Biome. There are also extensive gardens, contemporary art displays, performances and storytelling to keep you entertained.

Locally there are stunning beaches to stroll to and a 5 minute drive or tidy walk will take you to the delights of Padstow with all its attractions and entertainment.
Trevone has a lovely sandy and sheltered beach, perfect for some quality family time. Just a short drive away, Constantine Bay is a wonderful beach with golden sand, fun rock pools and pretty dunes. The surf is fantastic and Cornwall is just the best place to learn to surf. Harlyn is a great family beach and is home to a well-regarded surf school. Harlyn is wide and spacious with plenty of room for sandcastles and exploring the rock pools. Just up the coast from Padstow is another well know surfing haven, Polzeath. It is another great spot for beginners with its gently sloping beach.
Padstow offers a long list of boat trips to enjoy. You can either enjoy some watersports, spot wildlife or just enjoy this dreamy coastline. You can visit the National Lobster Hatchery. Not many people realise how vulnerable the lobster population is around the Cornish coast. The hatchery seeks to address this and raise awareness through its breeding program and educational exhibits. At the visitor centre, children enjoy seeing the young lobsters being reared, ready for release along with the resident giant lobster and some amazing Spider crabs. You can actually adopt a lobster here or sponsor the hatchery’s conservation work.
Slightly further afield, the exciting Camel Creek Adventure Park in Wadebridge offers a great family day out. There are fun rides for young children, thrilling ones for the older ones and lots of family experiences. Little ones can meet Swampy and Dina, the park’s resident characters. There is a Toddler’s Village, Morgawr, the sea serpent roller-coaster and the scariest ride, The Beast. Thunder Falls Log Flume is always good fun plus there are junior go-karts.
Also in Wadebridge is the thrilling St Eval Kart Circuit. The whole family can join in. There are junior karts for children aged twelve and above with top speeds of 35mph. Mum and dad can also use them. The cadet karts are for age’s seven to eleven with a top speed of 20mph. For the little ones aged three to six there are cub karts. Anyone over sixteen can use the thunder karts with a top speed of 70mph.
