Within a five minute drive of the gorgeous Praa Sands, this stunning seven bedroom house makes the ultimate Cornish holiday home. With room for up to fourteen guests, Sands House boasts impressive facilities including a sauna and a large, outdoor pool.
You will find Sands House in the quiet hamlet of Tresowes Green. Set in well-maintained gardens, the house comes with terraces offering dining and seating areas, including one on the upper floor. The magnificent pool outside is complemented by great wellness facilities inside, in the form of a sauna cabin and mini-gym.
There is direct access from one of the terrace seating areas to the interior living space. You have ample seating, a 50-inch TV, Sonos sound system, snooker table and more room to dine. The spacious kitchen comes equipped with a dishwasher, fridge freezer and all you need to cook and entertain, and you can look forward to a welcome pack too. There’s even a separate cinema room to enjoy your favourite movies in supreme comfort.
Seven bedrooms offer lots of flexibility – three have king-size beds, while the others contain a further eight single beds which can be converted to doubles as needed. The three king rooms have their own en suite bathroom, while the other four share a family bathroom, and some enjoy distant sea views. The master bedroom has an extra-large en suite, a dressing room and a terrace with two sun loungers.
The stunning beach of Praa Sands is just a few minutes away, along with a range of inviting pubs and restaurants serving up fresh, local seafood. Beautiful Porthleven lies just along the coast, not far from Helston and the Flambards Theme Park. Sands House is also just over 10 minutes’ drive from Marazion, where you will find the iconic St Michael’s Mount.

Location
About the surrounding area of Sands HouseWith a mile-long white sand beach backed by sand dunes, Praa Sands is a real treat. Located about 20 minutes east of Penzance and 12 minutes west of Helston, the beach is close to plenty of significant sights.
Just along the coast, you will find Porthleven, a pretty village by a harbour that draws visitors to its annual food festival. As well as entertainment, food stalls and events during the festival, the village has a number of good pubs and restaurants which have added to its reputation as a year-round foodie destination. Outside the village, you have the beautiful woodlands and lakes of Penrose which are ideal for walking the dog, or just walking generally.
The town of Helston is only a few minutes away, with the Flambards Theme Park one of its highlights. While it has the kind of rides you would expect from a fairground, it also includes historical exhibits like a Victorian village and a painstaking recreation of an actual chemist’s shop which laid dormant for 100 years. A short distance from the town, Helston’s heritage railway offers steam train rides during the summer.
West Cornwall landmarks The Lizard and Land’s End are both within reach of Praa Sands, each approximately 30 minutes away. The Lizard marks the most southerly point on the UK mainland, while Land’s End is quite near the westernmost (technically it’s a few minutes’ walk from the famous signpost).
Also along the Penwith Heritage Coast are picturesque locations such as Sennen Cove and Porthcurno, where you will find the open-air Minack Theatre. The PK Museum of Global Communications is another intriguing Porthcurno attraction, detailing its history as a communications hub.
Elsewhere in the county, you won’t want to miss the Eden Project or the Lost Gardens of Heligan, The latter covers 200 acres and include Productive Gardens, Pleasure Grounds and the Jungle, a tropical garden complete with a rope bridge suspended 100 feet above. The Eden Project’s grand biodomes are instantly recognisable, but there’s more to the place than plants – the site hosts all sorts of events including concerts by A-list music stars.
On the northern coast, St Ives is home of the Tate Gallery, Barbara Hepworth Sculpture Garden and idyllic beaches like Porthminster and Porthmeor, while Newquay has an aquarium and zoo that kids will love. Padstow is the place to be for celebrity restaurants and the gateway to the Camel Trail, while in Penzance, you’ll find the UK’s biggest lido, the geothermal Jubilee Pool, and contemporary art at the Newlyn Art Gallery and The Exchange.

In recent years, Cornwall has come on leaps and bounds and found a newfound style. That being said, discover our range of beautiful large holiday homes in Cornwall to start planning your next holiday!
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesThere’s plenty for kids to enjoy all over Cornwall. The stunning beach at Praa Sands is one of many around the area – look out for Gunwalloe Church Cove, Piskies Cove and Cudden Point among others in this part of the county. Newquay’s Fistral Beach, Perranporth and St Ives’ Porthminster are all worth a visit too, but you can’t really go wrong wherever you are in Cornwall.
Newquay also boasts a great aquarium – the Blue Reef Aquarium will delight young visitors with loggerhead turtles, reef sharks, octopuses and dwarf crocodiles amongst many other sea creatures. Other wildlife favourites include Newquay Zoo, St Ives’ Paradise Park and the Cornish Seal Sanctuary near Helston.
The scenic Camel Trail is a great place for a long walk or bike ride. It runs for 18 miles between Padstow and Bodmin and there are plenty of places to stop for a picnic along the way. You can hire bikes locally and from then on, it’s free.
The beautiful Lost Gardens of Heligan, near Mevagissey, are one of Cornwall’s best-loved attractions. Divided into three sections, including the tropical ‘Jungle’, these gardens will enchant kids of all ages. On a similar theme, the spectacular Eden Project offers kids’ activities and educational workshops, as well as special events that are suitable for the whole family.
Fancy a fun day out at a theme park? Try Camel Creek Adventure Park near Padstow, or the famous Flambards Theme Park, just outside Helston. Both have loads of rides, thrilling or more sedate, while Flambards adds historical exhibits including a replica of a Victorian street. For even more thrills, Liskeard’s Adrenaline Quarry will definitely deliver the goods. As the name suggests, there are loads of high-energy challenges, as well as a huge go-karting track and aquapark.
The Shipwreck Treasure Museum at Charlestown, near St Austell, will surely be a hit. Kids will love discovering artefacts that have been saved from various shipwrecks, including the Titanic and HMS Victory. Falmouth’s National Maritime Museum is also very family-friendly. Kids will love the interactive exhibits which bring Cornwall’s maritime past to life.
You could treat yourselves to a visit to Porthcurno’s open-air theatre. The Minack is a spectacular venue and seeing a show here is an unforgettable experience. Alternatively, how about a journey on a steam railway? In Newquay, you can take a trip on the Lappa Valley Railway, which also has a soft play area, boating lake, crazy golf and playground.

Wow!
We have stayed in a number of very nice larger properties but Sands House is by far the best. The garden is superb especially if you have younger children with you as there’s everything from a small playhouse to football posts and a swing. The pool area is wonderful and can be easily blocked off when not in use to prevent the little ones from entering. Then there’s the house itself. Wow! Large comfortable rooms with everything provided. We didn’t realise before we arrived that attached to the cinema room is a children’s play area with games and toys. Our little ones loved it. In the evenings we really took advantage of the pool room and had great fun challenging each other. We’re now considering booking Sands House again for next year which is something we rarely do as we usually like to visit different places but such is the ‘pull’ of the place.
