Cornwall gives travellers the opportunity to experience something different. Catapulting those with a thirst for adventure into its stunning wilderness but also enabling cosy, comfortable nights before the fire or in your very own hot tub, it’s impossible not to be pleased.

As part of a resort, you can live in your own little world if you wish. Enjoy the Lookout restaurant, try surfing and spend an indulgent evening at the spa. There’s also the gym and pool and a playground for young children. Don’t skip the surfing lessons available. It’s far easier to get a grip of the basics here before you head to the dominating waves at Fistral Beach.

The crowning glory of Cornwall is its beguiling natural beauty which includes long expanses of sandy beaches lapped by powerful surfable waves, atmospheric and eerie moors, sublime towns and villages each with something unique to offer visitors, cultured towns with a delicious range of food, including the indulgent British classic fish and chips, and the artful remains of captivating ruins with direct links to British history and culture.

The lodge is located near Padstow in the north of Cornwall, a beautiful town famous for its seafood and food scene. You’ll likely want to stop in at the Padstow Museum which is free to visit, and the Lobster Hatchery, where you can learn more about the lobster population in the area and local efforts to keep them safe.

A paradise for those who want to play, you can enjoy long walks, hikes, cycling on any of the many trails, surfing, rock climbing, scuba diving and water sports. A sea safari or trip by boat will expose you to the devastatingly gorgeous and cinematic coastline while also giving you the potential to see the marine life that call Cornwall home, including whales, dolphins and grey seals. You may even be fortunate to see a grey seal on land if visiting before summer, as it moults its winter coat for the warmer weather ahead.

Cornwall is home to many wonderfully evocative and beautiful locations including dreamy St Ives, cultured Penzance, exciting Truro and compelling Bude with its pub life and swimming opportunities. Make sure you try a Doom Bar beer! Port Isaac is renowned as a prime surfing spot as is Newquay while Tintagel on a summers day cannot be beaten with its literally legendary beauty and cliff-top castle ruins.

Mousehill’s exquisite harbour is well worth a visit while Bodmin grants you access to the nearby moors. Porthcurno is stunning, Sennen Cove unusual and Holywell just perfect for a day at the beach (a sandy one at that!)

With such alluring variety, there’s nothing you can’t do in Cornwall.

You’ll find plenty of families in Cornwall and it’s not hard to see why. It really does have everything. You can enjoy time on beautiful beaches and swimming in the sea, and even try water sports or diving. There are many hikes and cycling trails to get you out and about. And the landscape is cinematic in scope varying from moorland to greenery to cliffs to sandy beaches. It’s the perfect place to go to really embrace the great outdoors as you move from town to village to harbour to ruins on your quest across Cornwall.

Within the resort, kids can enjoy access to the playground, pool and gym, as well as the spa and restaurant. Here, they may also wish to have a surfing lesson before they head out to the beach and give it a go on the wild water!

The lodge is ideal for family evenings snuggling on the sofas by the log fire, ramping up the barbeque for a delicious feast on the terrace, hanging out in the hot tub, watching films, reading, board games, cards and gentle restorative family time. You can also enjoy sights of nature just beyond your terrace, taking in the sunset and sunrise, the stars dotting the nights sky and the melee of birds that call the area home.

There are many wonderful things to do here that’ll make lasting memories, including a beach picnic, fish and chips (don’t scrimp on the salt and vinegar!), a trip to the remarkable Eden project (a wonderful option on a drizzly day), a visit to the Lobster hatchery, taking in the history of the area for free at Padstow museum and a sit down dinner at Rick Stein’s. He has a cooking school too if you want to learn to make an assortment of dishes including fragrant curries and hearty seafood favourites.

Jump in the car and head to Newquay to surf some waves. Or to Sennen and Land’s End at the very tip of Cornwall. Tintagel’s castle ruins make for a great adventure. You can even stop by Merlin’s Cave and clamber over the rocks to the other side. Enjoy Mousehole’s idyllic harbour and take a sea safari trip across the water. Swim in Bude’s outdoor saltwater pool for a memorable experience. A great way to work up the adrenaline is a family trip to Canal Creek Adventure Park.

There’s so much to do here that you really can’t go wrong. Cornwall is your oyster.
