Villa Vaumera is situated just under 15 minutes away from the centre of Pollensa, a location that is continuously praised for its diverse collection of iconic landmarks. La Fira is an off-beat festival that works tirelessly to celebrate the region’s long history of trade. This event was first formed in the 18th century and continues to be a pivotal part of the region’s popular culture. As such, guests are free to explore each stall in-depth, purchasing a range of archaic goods such as woven hats and bags. In turn, guests have the chance to deepen their knowledge of this area and explore its nuances from an entirely new perspective. La Fira usually occurs on the second Sunday in November and continues to the following Tuesday.

Pollensa Museum is one of the finest tourist attractions in the area and can be found just over 10 minutes away from the villa. Despite now being known for its vast collection of prolific pieces, it was once used as a simplistic storage unit. During this time, this establishment housed an assortment of ornate Gothic altarpieces, which managed to gain a tremendous amount of critical acclaim. These pieces even received praise at the prestigious Summer Exhibition of Painting, which took place in the 1960s. Nowadays, it is seen as one of the most popular galleries in Europe, making it a pivotal place to visit if you wish to uncover the mysteries of this area.

If you are looking to embark on a truly riveting sightseeing experience, a trip to the Alzinaret Caves is a must-do activity. These caves were first uncovered by British archaeologist Wilfred Hemp in 1927, but in reality, these structures date all the way back to 1600 BC, emphasising the region’s far-reaching history. As a result, guests are free to explore the intricacies of these structures as they marvel at a plethora of well-preserved artefacts from the Middle Bronze Age. There is even a range of benches outside of the caves for those who do not feel comfortable travelling inside. The Alzinaret Caves are based just under 20 minutes away from Villa Vaumera.

THE REGION

Sa Pobla is a small municipality with around 12,000 inhabitants, which is situated in the centre of Mallorca, between Inca and Alcúdia. Sa Pobla is known for its agriculture and the humble potato, in particular, gets a lot of attention here as it is exported to many countries and a festival is even held in its honour each year.

The town of Sa Pobla is partly on the Albufera nature reserve (Parc natural de s'Albufera de Mallorca), a protected wetland area. The nature reserve is particularly good for bird watching as well as hikes and walks.

Pollensa is also very attractive to children as it hosts a wealth of exciting attractions for the whole family to enjoy. One of the area’s most significant landmarks is Puig de Maria, which is based just over 10 minutes away from the villa. Situated at the top of a looming 330-metre peak, this quaint 14th-century monastery was once viewed as a devoted shrine to the Virgin Mary. Though it is a key part of the region’s legacy-defining religious history, it was forced to close its doors in 1564 and did not reopen until 1638. However, it is now regarded as a deeply spiritual monument and hosts a wide range of alluring artefacts and fixtures. It should also be noted that it only takes 30 minutes to climb to this monastery, making it a very easy hike for most guests.

For those looking to immerse themselves deeper in the rich local culture, a trip to Pollensa Market is an ideal way to do so. This market is one of the largest in the area and hosts over 300 bustling stalls. All of these stalls provide a wealth of artisan goods, including clothes and bags, allowing guests to pick up a few unusual items to remind them of their wonderful time in this region. Alongside these handmade items, guests can also purchase a wide variety of fresh produce to use in their own cooking back at the villa. The Pollensa Market is located around 10 minutes away from Villa Vaumera and welcomes guests every Sunday from 8 am to 1:30 pm.

Formentor Lighthouse was first crafted in 1863 as an intuitive way to help guide delicate fishing boats away from the jagged rocks that sit at the base of the native shores. Despite its long history, this looming monument still holds a great amount of significance within this quaint region. It is also a key piece of European literature, seen as it is praised by acclaimed writers such as Gerardo Diego and Blas de Otero. As such, guests are encouraged to take the short drive to the peak of the lighthouse and marvel at the thought-provoking panoramic views that surround them. Formentor Lighthouse is based just under an hour away from the villa.

The villa looks pretty much exactly like in the pictures - it's beautiful! We had a small issue with warm water, however, the host Alan took care of it within minutes of calling him! Great service, love to come back.
