THE REGION
Cala d'Or – or the 'Golden Bay' – is a popular beach area on the southeast coast of Mallorca, south of Portocolom and neighbouring the coastal town of Portopetro. In Cala d'Or you really get an all-round holiday experience with wonderful beaches, interesting excursions, well-preserved nature and varied nightlife.
Cala d'Or is an excellent spot for a beach holiday thanks to its impressive facilities and wonderful beaches. Huge fun is the mini 'train' which runs along the roads for holidaymakers between the main resort and beaches. The town is also a great base for exploring some of the best natural and historical sights that southeast Mallorca has to offer.

Majorca has long been considered an ideal family-friendly destination; renowned for stress-free, stimulating travel for families. The array of safe beaches, warm seas, water parks and caves to explore, children of all ages will be quickly occupied within year-round sunshine and such a welcoming local culture.
The beaches around Cala d’Or are a natural family destination, with gentle bays ideal for hours of castle building and splashing in the safe, shallow waters, family-friendly restaurants and promenades. From pony rides to gentle treks, there is something for all ages in this part of Mallorca.
Hidropark is worth a day trip, for an array of “whizzy” rides offering adrenaline based fun or toddler appropriate splash pools, while Parc Natural de S’Albufera for gentle bike rides and birdwatching expeditions. Teens will enjoy activities such as kite surfing and kayaking, to spooky caving! Cliff jumping, mountain biking, scuba diving - the options are endless.
Further east, there are bewitching chambers of vast caves, safari encounters,
Mallorcans adore children; from playgrounds to child-friendly restaurants, children will not only be welcome but will be actively fussed over! Many restaurants offer inexpensive children’s menus - simple grilled meats, fries, spaghetti, and tortillas, not to mention ice cream! While those with more adventurous tastes may enjoy the local pa ambient oli - bread rubbed with olive oil, tomatoes and a variety of toppings.
Other highlights would be, Artestruz - where children can admire ostriches, Palma Aquarium, some eight thousand marine creatures to observe and delight over, to the Safari-zoo in the east.
Cars with car seats are pure to hire, usually for a per day fee.
Children will soon acclimatise to the Spanish way of life, where youngsters are very much part of the evening life, out in restaurants of an evening, playing in parks and squares while grown-ups gather with a cooling beer.
