If you are looking for a luxurious, tranquil, rural retreat in one of the most exclusive, upmarket areas of Ibiza, then Villa Amena will almost certainly tick all of your boxes. Located in the region known as ‘ the golden mile’ on the south coast between Porroig and Es Cubells, it offers incredible panoramic views of the dazzling sea and the scenic mountains from its privileged position. The villa boasts six gorgeous bedrooms sleeping, 12 guests.

This prestigious area of Ibiza is only 13km from the airport and 17km from Ibiza Town. It is quiet and tranquil being so exclusive and is favoured for its stunning views of the sea and its close proximity to the famous beach clubs of Cala Yondal. Tropicana, Yemanja and Blue Marlin are renowned as some of the best of the clubs on the island. It is also only 12 minutes in the car to San Jose for shopping.

Villa Amena sits within 10,000 sqm of stunning landscaped gardens brimming with ancient olive trees, fruit trees including apricots, peaches, figs and almonds, palms and colourful bougainvillaea. Great care has been taken with the positioning of the plants so that every view is framed by interesting, architectural patterns of different heights. The results are tremendous. There are beautiful views across farmland to the neighbouring pine-clad hillsides. You will certainly feel that you are away from all the stresses of everyday life and enjoy this alluring, idyllic plot. The gardens are dreamy for children, not only for the vast space and the beautiful swimming pools but for the oversized checkers set, the table tennis, petanque court, trampoline and the fantastic wooden playground with slides, bridges, swings, rope climbing, rocking toys and children’s cabins. They will be in heaven!

Across sunny lawns dotted with tall pines and lazy daybeds, the pool arrangement is fabulous with a 10m x 6m main pool, a separate jacuzzi and a solar-heated children’s pool. Dreamy, deluxe sun loungers and parasols surround the pool, and there are gorgeous alfresco living and dining areas surrounding the villa. Beside the pool, a shady terrace boasts a stylish alfresco dining table for 12 through additional tables and chairs are available seating up to 40 people. The terrace wraps around the side of the villa to a pretty barbecue area and a remarkable summer outdoor kitchen.

This overlooks the flower-filled gardens. The agapanthus and bougainvillaea are stunning. You can relax in the soft lounge area or find another nook and cranny for a quiet read. There are plenty all around. Otherwise, you can head up to the stunning roof terrace for incredible sunset views. Each of the terraces has been planned meticulously with attractive features such as birdcage walls or planting boxes full of cactus to frame your views.

Villa Amena’s light-filled, dazzling interior has a serene, glamorous vibe of sophisticated cosiness. Fresh, white hues with accents of bright golds and eastern mysticism combine to offer a warm, welcoming ambience. The villa is sprawling with a lovely flow from one lounge space to another. There is some fascinating artwork, and it is clear to see that the unique pieces of furniture have been carefully chosen and placed in just the right position. Floor to ceiling doors open to most of the rooms, illuminating them and offering spectacular views of the garden and beyond.

There are six bedrooms in total and six exquisite, pristine, modern bathrooms. The children’s bunk room is utterly charming. It is so cheerful and boasts a garden view, private terrace, walk-in closet and an ensuite shower room. The master bedroom offers a stunning sea view, a kingsize bed, private terrace, a separate walk-in closet and a huge ensuite bathroom, also with a sea view. There is a bath, and a shower and his and hers sinks. The second master bedroom also boasts a kingsize bed, an ensuite shower room, an outside terrace and direct access to the garden.

There are two bedrooms with twin beds though they can be joined together, making huge beds. Again, both rooms have ensuite shower rooms with garden views. The final bedroom has a kingsize bed, and ensuite bathroom and direct access to the garden. They are all so pretty with fine linens and gorgeous accessories. Villa Amena also benefits from a fantastic, well-equipped gym, a laundry room and a fabulous Sonus music system throughout the villa and outside.

Guests will have no problem chilling out and relaxing in this fantastic villa. If you need some time alone for a quiet read, you can always find a beautiful spot. It might be a hanging tree seat or a tucked-away daybed on one of the lawns or up on the roof. It is a truly magical place!

Ibiza is a fabulous destination for a holiday. It attracts the cream of the world’s DJ’s making it an ultimate destination for clubbers, but it also oozes a relaxed Bohemian vibe, boasts fantastic hillside and sea views and is perfect for hikers, boasts spectacular beaches, is dotted with attractive, hidden hamlets and boasts an enviable dining scene. Dalt Vila of Ibiza Town is picturesque with centuries-old mansions, steep, atmospheric cobbled streets, jasmine draped balconies and a majestic Gothic cathedral. It is easy to see why it is World Heritage-listed. The island is so diverse; there is something for everyone.

Cala Jondal Beach is beautiful and fashionable, one of the trendiest on the island. Surrounded by pines and jagged cliffs, it is very popular with luxury boat owners. The fantastic beach clubs on Cala Jondal even offer pick-ups from the luxury yachts.

San Jose is a charming village, not far from the villa, with a very good selection of restaurants and shops. It is in the foothills of Sa Talaia, the highest mountain on the island. There is a lovely Saturday morning market where around 20 stalls offer local and organic produce including fruit, vegetables, home-made bread and pastries. You will also find artists selling paintings, ceramics and sculptures.

In the southeast of the island, the fabulous Parc Natural de Ses Salines boasts 210 species of birds, sparkling salt pans and breathtaking sandy beaches such as Illestes and Llevant. It feels as though you are in the Caribbean on the salt-white sand. The sunsets and the cocktails served at the beach bars are incredible. If you are lucky, you will spot the hot-pink flocks of migrating flamingoes.

Ibiza is known for its holistic spa and relaxation scene. There are many spas, some in the wonderful citrus and olive groves of the countryside offering yoga, meditation and all sorts of beauty and wellness programmes.

San Agustin is one of the prettiest villages on Ibiza. It is halfway off the main road between San Antonio and San Jose. It is one of the best-preserved villages so offers a slice of the real Ibiza. You can visit the stone tower, the parish house and the church which was first blessed in 1806. From the church square, you will enjoy a fantastic, panoramic view of the impressive San Jose hills and open countryside.

THE REGION

Although set just outside the buzz of the village of San José, Es Cubells is distant enough to create a wonderful feeling of seclusion. As you drive past traditional fincas and rural farmland plus olive and orange groves, the pressure of everyday life seems to just slip away.

The exclusive, ultra-private properties peppered along the rocky cliffside are contemporary and luxurious in style yet possess an air of laid-back chic, setting the scene for the ultimate Mediterranean getaway.

Typical Spanish cuisine can be found in the two restaurants in the little village – take your pick between Bar Llumbi Restaurante – famous for mama’s pork chops and tasty tapas dishes – overlooking the sea, or tuck into hearty plates like grilled meats, whole fish baked in salt, paella or typical Ibicenco dishes including bullit de peix or guisat de peix on the sunny terrace of Bar Restaurante Es Cubells just opposite the church.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

Villa Amena is absolutely fantastic for families. The gardens are incredible and include an excellent wooden children’s playground, play cabins, table tennis, oversized checkers, a petanque court, a trampoline, rocking toys and a children’s swimming pool in addition to the main one. There are sprawling lawns, and various sections of the garden, just perfect for family games. The bunkbeds will score a hit.

It is very easy to reach the soft sanded beaches from the villa, and there are many to choose from on the island. Some are much quieter, and others organised with children’s activities, watersports and playgrounds. Some of the most popular beaches are Cala Bassa, Es Cana, Cala Vadella, Cala Llonga, the Portinatx Beaches and Cala Tarida but they all have their own charms.

Aquarium Cap Blanc is a fabulous and interesting aquarium outside San Antonio. It is in a sea cave where local fishermen used to set their lobster traps. Five openings in the rocks allow seawater to flow freely in and out of the cave, so it is the perfect temperature for the animals living inside. There is a range of marine species, including octopus, grouper, rays, morays and conger. Aquarium Cap Blanc is also a recuperation centre for sea turtles.

On the outskirts of Ibiza Town is Horse Valley, a stable that rescues mistreated horses and ponies. It is possible to horse ride in the countryside with Active Ibiza. The children’s package includes basic tuition in the paddock before a gentle trek on small horses. Children over six can join in.

Acrobosc Adventure Park at S’Argamassa, between Santa Eulalia and Es Canar, is set in an attractive pine forest. It boasts thrilling ziplines, trampolines, slides, nets, ladders, climbing walls, tightropes and rope bridges for children from 3 years old and everyone above. There are three circuits which are graded for different abilities. It is great fun.

Aguamar Water Park in Playa d’en Bossa boasts white-knuckle slides, chutes, tubes and pools for all ages. The Kamikaze and Black Hole slides are probably the most thrilling. You can also visit the lovely beach while you are there.

Children also enjoy visiting the Hippy Markets that take place over the island. Local artisans sell handmade and second-hand items at the vibrant, busy markets. There are food stalls, entertainment and lots of opportunities to learn about the authentic Ibiza culture. Punta Arabi is the oldest and biggest Hippy Market on the island with over 500 artisans, designers and craftsmen. Young children can make flower crowns, create their own t-shirts and get their face painted.
