Set upon the glorious limestone cliff tops, Villa Parador offers an ideal spot to spend long summer days in the comfort of its grounds whilst enjoying uninterrupted views out to the sea and surrounding coastline.

Located just off the coast road, the villa sits at a sunken level offering a private, tranquil setting. A set of stairs lead from the onsite parking down to the main entrance at the side of the house. Arranged across two levels, the rooms are pleasant, with strong natural lighting and colourful furnishings. The entrance opens into a generous living-dining space. To one side, there is a dining table for up to 8 people, whilst to the other is an informal seating area, with sofas and armchairs arranged in front of a large sliding door framing views out into the garden. The doors can be left ajar to draw in the sea breeze, whilst a TV and charming corner fireplace make the room comfortable to relax in the evenings or during the cooler days.

The kitchen is found at the other end of this level. Tile-covered walls add a sense of vibrance, and there is all the equipment that you may need to cook or prepare a meal throughout your stay. One of the bedrooms can be found next to the kitchen, simply furnished with built-in storage and a large double bed. There is also the convenience of a guest toilet.

A staircase in the living room gives access to the rest of the bedrooms, where there is a large double room and two further rooms with twin beds in each. Minimally furnished, all three rooms contain air conditioning, ensuring a comfortable temperature even during the hottest summer nights. There is also a spacious bathroom and shower at the top of the stairs for the rooms to share.

From the living room, the double doors give access to the glorious garden, where a large outdoor dining table on the upper terrace is perfect for meals throughout the day. Enjoy a coffee beneath the morning sun or spend a leisurely lunch under the shade of the retractable canopy. There is also a fantastic fire stove, inviting you to make the most of the warm summer nights and grill a feast of local fish to enjoy a relaxing dinner beneath the stars.

Extending down from the terrace, the gravel garden opens out to the seafront with spectacular views up and down the coast. Trees and planting create a sense of privacy, and a number of sun loungers and seating invite you to recline and enjoy the sun within the secluded setting. The swimming pool is located at the front of the house, perfect for a refreshing swim, and there is an outdoor shower convenient for rinsing off. Behind the barbecue area is a utility room with a washing machine and drying rack, as well as a laundry line that is ideal for wet costumes. Here there is also a tennis table, offering a bit of fun for all the family to amuse themselves at any point in the day.

With its uninterrupted views out to sea, Villa Parador enjoys a privileged position on the edge of the coast and is just a few minutes walk from the beach. Accessed via a path just below the villa's garden, the charming Cala de la Fustera offers a crescent of fine white sand, perfect for spending the afternoon lying on the beach. The gentle shore gives way to crystal-clear waters, and the seabed is well known for its rich posidonia seagrass. There are good public amenities as well as a Red Cross service during the season. For a cold drink, head up to Mandala Beach Bar, where you can relax beneath the shade, or spend the evening here and enjoy a dinner of traditional tapas plates or a fresh paella whilst watching the sunset.

Passing through La Fustera, the Ruta Ecologica Benissa runs along the coast, linking the various beaches and inlets whilst offering magnificent views from the cliff tops. Accessible throughout the year, the route is suitable for the whole family. Head north to Cala Advocat and take a swim in the turquoise cove, or enjoy a snack and cold beer at the chiringuito (beach bar). Whilst to the south, the path takes you down to the larger town of Calpe, particularly famous for the monumental Penon de Ifach mountain, which gives the landscape its distinctive shape. For those with a bit more energy, take the lovely route up to the top to enjoy a stunning view over the bay and coastline beyond. A challenging but rewarding hike, the trail guides you through a splendid tunnel cut through the enormous rock before reaching the cliff's 330m summit.

Calpe is a vibrant town and has a long history dating back to the Valencian Bronze Age around 1500 B.C. It is possible to take in the archaeological sites, such as the Banos de la Reina, located on the waterfront. Built between the 2nd and 4th centuries to serve as the royal spa, you can visit the site and follow in the footsteps of the queens by swimming in the baths free of charge. Alternatively, head into the city centre to the huge salt lake, where you can admire the beautiful pink flamingos.

For a trip inland, El Castell de Guadalest is less than an hour's drive. Perched on a limestone crag, high above the valley, the mountain village was fortified by the Moors as a strategic defensive position. Partial ruins of the medieval castle are still visible, although most of the structure was lost during an earthquake in 1644. The gateway of Portal de Sant Josep, a tunnel cut through the rock, gives access to the village where you can wander along the single cobbled street to the square and take in the marvellous views across to the Sierra de Serella and reservoir hundreds of feet below. There are a number of restaurants catering to the tourists after a refreshment, but for a delicious meal, it's best to head down to the neighbouring village of Benimantell and visit Venta la Montana. Serving up traditional cuisine with local produce, the friendly service and laid-back atmosphere is a perfect stop. Try olleta de blat, a local speciality, or enjoy any one of the flavoured rice dishes that the region is known for. Make sure to stop off at one of the local honey sellers or artisans as you wind your way back down to the coast!

Region

Costa Blanca is famous for the ‘Brits Abroad’ culture, and it’s understandable why it attracts such crowds throughout the summer months. Guaranteed weather, world-class beaches, tons of family facilities and bumpin’ nightlife is a recipe in popularity. Why not experience a different side of Costa Blanca with a villa holiday?

Behind the crowds on the tourist beaches lie incredible mountains, hidden coves, vineyards and ancient villages that have yet to be discovered. You’ll also find some seriously swanky eateries and luscious spa experiences if you’re all about kicking back in luxury.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

With its large outdoor and wonderful fenced-in swimming pool, Villa Parador is a great place to spend time with all the family. The enclosed garden is ideal for playing outside and enjoying afternoons splashing around in the pool. The tennis table also offers up a lot of fun, welcoming you to challenge each other to games throughout the day.

Accessed via a path at the bottom of the garden, the local beach is a charming crescent of white sand and clear blue waters. The gentle shore and calm sea make it perfect for families, as young children can paddle safely or build sandcastles along the water's edge. Similar-sized coves dot the coastline and can be accessed via the coast path, a very easy route that can be done by all ages and a great way to take in stunning views from different perspectives.

The nearby city of Benidorm is teeming with things to do, with bars and restaurants and multiple activity centres to entertain the whole family. The iconic L'Aiguera Park, designed by Richard Bofill, is a long green stretch of neoclassic style, separating the old quarter of the city from the more modern buildings. Perfect for a walk and picnic, the park has two amphitheatres which often hold shows and events during the summer months, whilst the bullring to the end of the park boasts a fairground and the occasional fiesta.

Sitting on the edge of the city, Aqualandia can be reached in just 40 minutes, where you can find an extensive range of water activities, slides, and pools for all ages. There are plenty of restaurants and onsite facilities, making it easy to spend the whole day exploring the park. The Mundomar Animal Park is also nearby, home to a variety of local and exotic marine animals. You can watch entertaining shows whilst learning about the animals and how they are looked after. It is also possible to spend a day on the water by taking a boat ride out to the reserver of Isla de Benidorm, which according to locals, represents the giant portion of rock missing from the summit of the nearby Mount Puig Campana. Sitting in the middle of the bay, the protected area of natural beauty can be visited by little ferry boats called golondrinas (swallows) that depart regularly from the main harbour.
