Villa Tinho is just so funky! It’s a cool, upside down, modern villa on the glorious Silver Coast at Sao Martinho do Porto with three exquisite bedrooms so would suit a family or group of friends.

Sao Martinho do Porto is one of those fantastic, unique spots that everyone in Portugal knows about but most people have never heard of! It has a stunning perfectly scalloped bay with fine silver sand and outstanding views over to Foz da Arelho, as well as fabulous restaurants serving delicious local cuisine. There are plenty of amazing golf courses close by and fantastic countryside and traditional Portuguese villages around. Not only that, the locals are so friendly!

The three immaculate double bedrooms are on the ground floor and are incredibly spacious. The master has its own ensuite with a walk-in shower. The facilities in this villa are state-of-the-art. The other deluxe bedrooms share an equally lovely bathroom with a bath. Everything sparkles here! The welcoming entrance hall will give you the first impression of a beautiful, modern villa with exquisite pieces of art and rugs that make you smile. Everything is so tasteful and catches your eye.

The modern staircase takes you upstairs to a wonderful open-plan living, dining and kitchen space. It is so light and bright with glass everywhere. The outside certainly becomes part of the whole house. The views are stunning over to the sea and all around. The kitchen is so smart and offers everything you would wish for. The furniture is both superbly comfortable and fashionably chic!

The wall of glass opens to a fabulous terrace and pool which is actually on the roof of 2 of the downstairs bedrooms. The infinity pool is fabulous and can be heated if necessary. The deck is furnished with wonderful sun loungers and outdoor dining. The views are spectacular. On the other side of the villa, is a magnificent outdoor dining, and lounge terrace with a brick-built barbecue. It is an excellent space for delicious outdoor meals and chilling.

You will certainly feel that this villa is a treat. It is dazzling and beautiful, and the little tasteful, colourful touches are a delight.

Villa Tinho is in an excellent location, 2km from Sao Martinho Beach, 17km from Nazare Beach and only 300-350m from supermarkets and restaurants. The wonderful Royal Obidos Golf Course is 18km away and Lisbon airport 98km.

The Silver Coast is an amazing holiday destination with such a variety of activity and experiences. It has a majestic coastline with thrilling surf towns such as Nazare and family-friendly beaches, culture and history with incredibly attractive towns such as Tomar and Coimbra and stunning unspoiled scenery including the dramatic mountain regions of Serra da Estrela. It offers fabulous cuisine and wines and beautiful weather. The lovely locals outnumber foreign tourists and are so friendly. It really does have everything!

Sao Martinho do Porto Beach is one of the few beaches that are really calm on the Silver Coast. It is perfect for sailing and other water sports — the brave and skilled can head for the massive hammering waves of Nazare, which is next to Sao Martinho. Nazare is so picturesque too and boasts amazing carnivals. There are many sports at the beaches, including paddle boarding and kitesurfing. Just imagine the thrill of jumping the waves while kitesurfing!

Besides the incredible beaches, there is so much to see and do. The university city of Coimbra is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Its ancient buildings cling to the side of the hill that rises above the curves of the Mondego River. The ornate buildings of the famous university are its crowning glory.

Surrounded by a city wall, a walk through the charming centre of Obidos feels like a walk back in time. Its cobbled paths, well-preserved castle and whitewashed homes are so pretty. It is worth stopping for a Ginjinha de Obidos, a wonderfully sour brandy drunk from a small chocolate cup – delicious!

Torres Vedras is surrounded by green hills and valleys and is famous for its wine. You might pick up some lovely handmade lace at Peniche, such a lovely souvenir. Berlenga Island is a nature reserve island home to much wildlife. The list is endless! You will just need to come back to take it all in!

You will marvel at the fantastic gastronomies of the region. Typical dishes are Arroz da Tamboril which is a monkfish stew with rice, Polvo a Lagareiro which is roast octopus, Caldeirada de Enguias which is fried eel stew and of course, its famous codfish ‘Bacalhau’. These can all be washed down with delicious local wines.

ABOUT THE SILVER COAST

The Silver Coast in Portugal, or Costa de Prata, is a stunning stretch of coastal towns on the western side of Portugal, neighbouring the Atlantic Ocean. The region remains largely unknown and therefore untouched by tourism, meaning those who do visit can bask in the extraordinary “silver” sand.

Another of the many reasons to love the Silver Coast in Portugal is its proximity to Portugal’s major cities. With Lisbon to the south and Porto to the north, the Silver Coast is well situated in between both of Portugal’s largest urban centres. At the same time, it is inexpensive, authentic, and relatively undiscovered.

The Silver Coast is home to some of the best beaches you’ll ever see in Portugal. Since it’s away from the main crowd of the country, the beaches here are wilder and more pristine. Also, being popular for fishing is a great place to try local cuisine and experience the culture.

The cuisine from the Silver Coast in Portugal is some of the finest that Europe has to offer and forms an integral part of the region’s culture. The area has a rich heritage, and tourists love the narrow, picturesque streets of the towns and villages that dot the countryside. The regional agriculture also adds an authentic touch, with numerous small farms, vineyards, windmills as well as fruit trees. Many local farmers grow soft fruits such as grapes, melons, pumpkins, and maize.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages

Children will love the gorgeous beaches of the Silver Coast. Whilst Nazare is a beautiful, thrill-seeking challenge, Praia Tochu is a stunning beach with unspoilt sand dunes and top-notch waves, Praia de Carriero do Mosteiro is small with fabulous, aqua water and plenty of fish to watch or catch. Foz do Arelho Beach is a beautiful lagoon with crystal clear water, surrounded by cliffs and buzzy beach bars and restaurants. The local beach is one of the few calm bays due to its scalloped, protected bay.

Norpark at Nazare is a family-friendly water park with fast slides for children over six and gentler slides for the younger ones. There is also a huge Olympic sized pool, children's water playground, a hydro massage pool, giant jacuzzi and a restaurant. It is a fun afternoon out.

The sailing club at Obidos is located on the lovely lagoon and provides lessons in a wide variety of water sports including sailing, kitesurfing, windsurfing and stand-up paddleboarding. The water is shallow and warm, so ideal for children learning.

At Parque dos Monges Alcobaca there is a thrilling zipline as well as kayaking, horse riding, animal enclosures with monkeys, lamas, turtles and exotic birds, obstacle courses, gladiator areas and the high wire. It is such fun!

Dino Parque Lourinha is an outdoor museum in a vast plot. Four tracks correspond to the end of the Paleozoic, the Triassic, the Jurassic and the Cretaceous ages. You will marvel at the life-size models of the incredible creatures. It is fun as well as being educational.
