THE REGION

Comporta is surrounded by rice paddies, the ocean, sand dunes and pine forests. It's a unique place where you can connect with nature and live in the moment. Comporta has a rhythm and an ambience that are all it's own. This wild and unspoilt part of Portugal attracts an in-the-know international crowd, including renowned artists, designers, and A-listers.

Comporta has a remarkable diversity of natural systems with long stretches of beach, windswept dunes, scenic pine forests, salt marshes and rice paddies which become a vibrant green in June. The region is also characterized by rice fields and its main attraction, the Comporta beach: 20 kilometres of uninterrupted white sand, a beach lover’s paradise.

As with the rest of Portugal, you can expect sun-blessed weather year-round in Comporta. The best months of the year to visit Comporta for long beach stays are from June to September, while the spring and autumn months are still suitable for picnics or day trips.

ABOUT THE LISBON COAST

The Lisbon Coast is a sensational stretch of golden beaches, wave-lashed cliffs and vibrant seaside towns – but there's more to the Atlantic coastline than that. Delve beneath the surface to discover hidden coves, family-owned seafood restaurants and pristine natural parks.

The coast around Lisbon provides an easy, breezy escape from the capital, whose proximity has made it the stomping ground of kings for the last 1,000 years. In summer, Lisboistas stream into elegant Comporta and Cascais to escape the heat of the city; year-round, surfers hang loose on the coast, waiting for the rollers to crash down on the sand.

But while you're enjoying one of our fantastic villas on Lisbon Coast, you may well want to take some time out from all that sun worship to explore everything else the region has to offer – so we've put together this handy travel guide to give you a little help and inspiration!

This museum is located in a disused rice mill and hosts a striking collection of old machinery and equipment that was used to make rice back in the 1950s. Guests can travel through the museum and marvel at the devices and interactive exhibitions that are on show. There is also a restaurant on-site that serves a plethora of delicious rice dishes for guests to try. The Rice Museum is just 2-minutes away, and tickets cost €2 per guest.

If your children are lovers of ancient history, they will adore the Roman Ruins of Troia. This incredible site is home to an array of authentic Roman buildings such as shops, factories, and baths, all of which date back over 2,000 years. This site was also the largest fish-salting production centre in the old Roman world, further exemplifying its significance in European history. The Roman Ruins of Troia are 20-minutes away from the centre of Comporta, and guests can partake in a guided tour for just €7.50 each.
