Overview
Villa Obelia is a charming waterfront villa situated just a short stroll from the beach. The villa’s proximity to the ocean means relaxing with a cold beverage whilst watching the glistening ocean waves is undoubtedly on the menu at this stunning Algarve retreat.
The breezy and tiled living space on the ground floor is cool and inviting, perfect for a cosy night in watching a movie or relaxing with a glass of wine. A large sliding door opens straight out to an alfresco dining area and barbecue.
Outside you’ll find deckchairs for lounging on around the large private pool. A perfect place to play cards, soak up the sun and read a good book. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you’ll need, so you really can make yourself at home and fill up the fridge with goodies for cooking up a storm.
The villa can comfortably accommodate up to twelve guests across five bedrooms. The first bedroom is a master suite with a double bed and en-suite bathroom. Two bedrooms have double beds while two rooms have twin beds, a further two beds are available on a request basis at the time of booking. There are two family bathrooms with bright tiles and a bathtub and shower in each.
You’ll have plenty of cultural things to do if you fancy a change from sunbathing and swimming. The closest town of Albufeira is 6km away, and you’ll find something for the whole group. The night owls can explore the bustling nightlife with bars and live music every night or the culture vultures can meander through the town and admire the eclectic Portuguese Algarvean architecture. The area is dotted with historical landmarks like countless 18th-century churches.
As for the region’s cuisine, the local speciality is called Cataplana, a mixture of crispy seafood, shellfish and steamed fish. You can try this at a selection of restaurants located just 100 metres away from the villa. Or, if you want to cook at home and make use of the villa’s barbecue and terraced outdoor dining area, you’ll find supermarkets an easy 1km away from the house.

What you should know…
- Due to the open nature of the gardens, particularly small children should not be left to explore alone
- While the villa holds a great location and so unessential, hiring a car would help to make discovering the surrounding area a lot easier
- In order to accommodate 12 guests, 2 additional put-up beds will need to be used

Location
About the surrounding area of Villa ObeliaWithin 200 metres of the villa you have the stunning beach and lovely eateries, but if you fancy exploring the full area, you’ll find something for everyone.
For golf fans, the renowned Balaia Golf Course is just a few kilometres away from the house. Or for shopping and a bit more hustle and bustle, the closest town of Albufeira (6km) is known for its Moorish heritage and busy nightlife. The town has certainly expanded from its days as a small fishing port but remains historically fascinating, with the ruins of a fortress and a high cliff overlooking the beach.
This balance of heritage and modernity gives it a fun and exciting atmosphere. Because Albufeira is located 40 km west of Faro and 50 km east of Lagos it is very popular with Portuguese holidaymakers, so you can mingle with the locals.
15 km from Villa Obelia you will find Vilamoura which genuinely is a town that caters for all, water sports fans, golfing pros, nature lovers and seasoned travellers. There are plenty of things to do; relax on the beaches, practice your favourite water sport, play the five golf courses close to the city, or learn something new with a historical tour.
Faro Airport serves Portugal’s Algarve region. The sights of Faro include an archaeological museum and ‘Bishop’s Palace’, a Renaissance cathedral that was bombed during World War II.
Algarve is a beautiful destination for your holiday, where you can enjoy the Mediterranean climate in a pleasant and relaxing setting, with access to activities like golf, surf, diving, windsurfing, culture and of course tasting the traditional cuisine like grilled sardines or jardineira, a local’s favourite beef stew with vegetables

THE REGION
Olhos d’Agua offers the best of both worlds when it comes to holidaying in the Algarve. This low-key little fishing village has the all charm and relaxing vibes of a sleepy town by the seaside combined with the lively buzz of its neighbouring resort towns like Albufeira.
Olhos d’Agua is first and foremost ideal for a holiday on the sunny beach, and you’ll surely spend most of your time here either stretched out on the sand or playing around in the water. Walking the cobbles streets of the village, you’ll encounter quaint seafood restaurants and bars but there’s not much of a nightlife. This is why Olhos d’Agua is the perfect destination for a chilled-out family break. As is Boliqueime, a quaint little village with a historical feel just a short drive from Olhos d’Agua where you can retreat in absolute stillness and make day trips to surrounding towns and attractions.
ABOUT THE ALGARVE
Though most people tend to see the Algarve as all about the beaches and a holiday on the Med, there’s far much more to it than that.
But while you’re enjoying one of our fantastic villas in Algarve, you may well want to take some time out from all that sun worship to explore everything else the region has to offer – so we’ve put together this handy travel guide to give you a little help and inspiration!
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesThis villa is perfect for families with children. Stairs take you right down the cliff to the beach, where the fine sand and deep blue water beckons. For smaller children, the villa’s pool and green garden are ideal for playing in.
The region boasts the new ZooMarine water park. It offers a full marine experience for the whole family, with tropical fish, dolphins, seals, sea lions and sharks as well as tropical birds and birds of prey from all corners of the globe. The park has an educational aim, teaching kids about conservation of the environment, while being super fun. Zoo Marine runs a rehabilitation centre that focuses on reintroducing a wide range of marine species into their natural habitat. It is only 11km from Albufeira.
For adventurous or slightly older kids, the area is abundant with activities like sailing, horse riding, kiting and biking to name just a few. The whole region is an adventure playground for kids and big kids alike!
