First built as a watermill, Casale Pietra has been lovingly restored to a stunning holiday home while retaining its charm – some sections dating back to the 1300s! Sat on a hillside facing Lake Como, you can view the sweeping landscape from the comfort of the villa.
The original pieces of this villa are fascinating. Sections of stonework act as centrepieces to the rooms, expertly blended with the modern white walls. High ceilings in the living area make the room feel grand and open, while large windows frame the mountains opposite Lake Como. In the evenings, you can get cosy by the fire with a glass of wine and your favourite book.
Step outside and admire the pretty stream that runs alongside the villa. You may even spot a horse or two stopping by to take a drink. The large inviting pool is perfect to take a dip in, before drying off in the sun on one of the sunbeds. Enjoy your morning coffee on the balcony while taking in the magical views of Lake Como.
The local area surrounding this villa is wonderful to explore. Drive around ten minutes to reach a bustling lake beach, where you can try out windsurfing or swim in the sparkling blue sea. There are lots of delicious restaurants nearby, serving mouth-watering Italian dishes – perfect for pizza lovers!
Drive around 15 minutes to reach Menaggio, a beautiful town that sits by Lake Como. Walk along the lake promenade, past vibrant flower beds and pastel-coloured buildings. History lovers will enjoy the old town, with its stone walls and slim walkways. Menaggio is home to a ferry port, which you can use to experience the other two towns in the golden triangle – Bellagio and Varenna. Dotted with wineries, eateries, and bars, these towns should not be missed.

About the surrounding area of Casale PietraNestled close to Lake Como, this villa offers many local activities. The nearest lake beach is reachable in ten minutes by car, home to a windsurfing club and various eateries. For a taste of Italy, there are lots of nearby restaurants serving local dishes.
Hop in the car and drive just 15 minutes to Menaggio, which sits alongside Lake Como. This quaint town is characterised by vibrant buildings, small boutiques, and old churches. Walk along the lake promenade, with glistening water on one side and luscious flowerbeds on the other. Stop for a coffee or gelato in the Piazza Garibaldi, located in the heart of the town. The Church of Santa Marta is also worth a visit, with its classic architecture and 17th-century paintings. For more history, head to the old town, with its ancient buildings and narrow streets.
Menaggio has its own ferry port, which you can use to explore other areas of Lake Como. Bellagio and Varenna are two wonderful towns worth exploring, with grand villas, cobbled walkways, and historical buildings. Wander through the streets and visit the local shops that sell handmade cheeses and Italian wine.
Another gorgeous town is Tremezzina, which is less than a 20-minute drive away. Discover Parco Teresio Olivelli, a beautiful waterfront park with a stunning fountain and benches that face Lake Como. Walk through the park and over a bridge to reach the impressive San Lorenzo church, one of the many historical buildings in this town. To learn more about Italy’s rich history, visit the Villa del Balbianello, a late 16th-century villa with a museum.
Travel half an hour by car to reach Porlezza, a beautiful area nestled next to Lake Lugano. Wander along the lake’s edge, made up of colourful buildings that reflect in the water. Sit for a bite to eat while soaking up the breath taking landscape, made up of forest-covered hills and glistening water.
