Mas De Coteau is a charming home tucked away on the hillside near Murs. Surrounded by peaceful countryside with spectacular views out towards the Luberon hills, it’s an idyllic place to spend your holiday in Provence.

Recently renovated, it boasts a blend of modern amenities, sleek finishes and authentic touches. Outside you will find a traditional terracotta roof and blue shutters, whilst inside wooden beams and tiled floors run throughout the house. This is juxtaposed by contemporary art and the latest technology such as a picture frame TV, smart fridge and camera security system. There’s also a gym and mezzanine-level study with an Apple Mac.

Upstairs there are four lovely bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom and quality mattresses. One of the rooms looks out onto the hillside while others enjoy views facing the pool and the valley beyond. A fifth bedroom with a double bed and en-suite can be found on the ground floor, looking out onto the garden and pool.

The fantastic scenery encircling the villa can be best admired from the beautiful gardens, which are filled with shady trees and colourful flowers. Stretching out over 6 acres, the grassy lawns offer plenty of tranquil spots for relaxing and sheltering from the sun. The 10m heated pool is fenced off from the rest of the grounds and the poolside terrace, with its sun loungers and umbrellas, is a serene area to while away the day.

Picturesque Murs is just 3km away and worth a wander around for its 12th-century church, pretty main square and a glimpse of the impressive private chateau. There’s also a handy grocery store for stocking up on a few essentials.

The ancient village of Joucas has a restaurant and café as well as some tennis courts. Just 8km away, it also boasts great views from its hilltop perch.

Also nearby are Gordes and Roussillon. With its impressive church and castle and the famed lavender field of Senanque Abbey, Gordes is officially one of the Most Beautiful Villages in France, while Roussillon is packed with pretty ochre-coloured buildings. Both can be reached in under 20 minutes and are well worth a visit.

A 45-minute drive takes you to the city of Avignon, with its historic sites, lively market and buzzing atmosphere. Be sure to stop for a drink and enjoy some live music in the bohemian quarter by the River Sorgue.

The Luberon massif offers a wide variety of scenic walking trails and cycling routes which show rural Provence at its very best.

Hidden on the hillside near the village of Murs, Mas De Coteau enjoys a serene location in the Luberon. With charming towns close by and stunning natural beauty all around, it offers the best of rural Provence living.

A grocery store can be found just 3km away in the little village of Murs. More quaint and less touristy than some of the other villages in the region, it’s a lovely place to take a stroll, and boasts a 12th-century church and picturesque square. Inside the 18th-century church you will find an intriguing collection of Italian art while there’s also a private fortress at the top of the village. Nearby Joucas also has a couple of good restaurants as well as some tennis courts.

Gordes is one of the Most Beautiful Villages in France and can be reached by car in just over 10 minutes. It’s a great place to visit, with a fantastic selection of restaurants and a popular market which takes place on a Tuesday. There’s a pretty church and castle, plus the stunning Senanque Abbey with its striking lavender field.

Roussillon is 13km away and is known for its picture-prefect ochre houses. The red, orange and pink hues contrasted against the blue sky and greenery of the pine makes it one of the most scenic villages in Provence.

Half an hour away is the equally delightful village of Bonnieux. Here there are some superb places to eat as well as spectacular views across the surrounding countryside. Next to Bonnieux is medieval Lacoste, which hosts a variety of musical and theatrical events in the summer.

Further north sits Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, a popular village lined with souvenir shops and riverside restaurants. It is also home to one of the largest springs in the world and tourist flock to the village, which is around an hour away, to admire the towering cliffs and bright green colour of the water.

The market town of L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue is 25km away and worth a visit for its well-known antiques market and pretty canals.

To see some of Provence’s famous scenery, head to the lavender fields of Sault. Just a 33km drive from the house, they are breathtakingly beautiful and provide the perfect setting for taking treasured family photos.

The Luberon offers glorious terrain and an impressive backdrop for walking and cycling. There are a wide variety of trails and paths through forests, ravines and vineyards, which are suitable for all abilities and can be explored on foot or by bike.
