Maison D'Eau Turquoise is wonderfully located; in the heart of an idyllic Provencal village, surrounded by dense pine forests and walking trails. This is a great place to stay for those wishing to get to know many aspects to Provence’s personality.

Set within gated gardens which span 1500m2, the home is a peaceful haven for parties of up to ten guests. As you approach the house through neighbouring farmland and olive groves and look out over a scattering of pretty villages, you will feel the stresses of day-to-day life melting away and feel yourself getting in to the holiday spirit.

Maison D'Eau Turquoise is a dreamy farmhouse which offers views over the historic centre of the village of Eygalières. The main house is a centuries-old dwelling with original stone floors and fireplaces, brimming with period charm. These original details have been paired with contemporary furnishings, lighting and art works to create a welcoming environment for your French escape.

The villa is laid out over two floors in the main house and an additional garden room which is tucked away in the grounds. There is plenty of space here for a group of friends or a large family, so you can travel together without feeling cramped. On the ground floor you will find an inviting living room with comfy sofas gathered around the gorgeous fireplace, this a lovely spot for meeting together in the evenings and overlooks the lush garden. The dining room is close by and offers a formal dining space for eight guests, you can also dine al-fresco at one of the many outdoor tables. Just around from here there is a fully-fitted kitchen which has everything from a fridge freezer to a coffee machine, so cooking meals for your group could not be easier.

There are five bedrooms in total at Maison D'Eau Turquoise, two of these are on the ground floor which is fantastic for those who struggle with stairs. These rooms are serene spaces, flooded with natural light from the doors on to the garden. These two spacious bedrooms both boast a dressing room and a modern en-suite bathroom. Two more bedrooms can be found upstairs; these rooms can be laid out as double rooms or with twin beds, whichever suits your needs best. These rooms have shared access to a lovely bathroom with a bath tub for a long relaxing soak. The final bedroom is located within the garden in a separate, cottage-like building. With garden views and a tranquil setting, this double room offers guests a restful night’s sleep and some privacy from the main group.

As you step outdoors, you will discover a green, well-established garden with towering trees, flower pots and lawned areas. There is lots of space for outdoor dining and sunbathing in the garden and of course the private, heated pool which is the focal point of the garden. If you would like to lounge in the shade, you can retreat to the covered pool house and read your favourite book.

When you wish to get better acquainted with your surroundings, you can walk out from the garden and in to the nearest village. The ancient settlement is on a hilltop which is packed with quaint cafes and restaurants. You can even discover an art gallery, history museum and a number of historic ruins in the village, so there is plenty to see on your doorstep.

A little further afield, you can visit a number of towns and cities such as Saint-Rémy-de-Provence which was once home to Vincent Van Gogh and is just 13km away from the villa.

Perched on a small hill within the Alpilles, is the village of Eygalières. Maison D'Eau Turquoise is nestled within this sleepy village, so you can stroll around the pretty streets and access the nearest amenities with ease. When you wish to head out on day trips, you can also explore Arles, Avignon and Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, so you will never be bored when staying here!

Eygalières is quite a small village, but for its size, it is not lacking in facilities and attractions. The village hails back to the Bronze Age and has a rich history shown in the ancient ruins and well-preserved buildings from throughout the ages. To learn more about the local history, you can visit the history museum, there is also an art gallery here, an ancient bath house, castle, historic churches and the bell tower. Additionally there are an array of cafes and restaurants here, whether you want to go out early for breakfast or enjoy a late afternoon drink. Like many Provencal villages, Eygalières is always bustling with people gathering together for saints’ days and festivals. One of these is the Fete de la St Laurent where there are communal meals, horse shows and fairground rides in the town square.

Another great place to visit is the town of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence which is 13km away by car. This lively town is a hub for art-lovers due to its connection to the Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh. While in town you can pay a visit to a number of museums dedicated to the artist and take a wander around the streets which inspired his works with a free audio guide. You could also head to the outskirts of town to see the imposing Saint-Paul-de-Mausole monastery which is where Van Gogh lived during his year in Saint-Rémy. The monastery served as the town’s asylum at the time and the artist lived in a tiny room here when he was struggling mentally. His stay must have offered him some recuperation as he produced 143 paintings while living here, including some of his most famous works. If you’re not overly interested in Van Gogh, the monastery is still worth a visit as it is truly stunning. You can also visit other museums and sights in town such as the ruins of the Roman city of Glanum. After a busy day, you’ll find a great range of restaurants for dinner here.

Aside from the wonderful villages and towns, Provence is also well-known for its incredible countryside made up of long walking trails, farms and lavender fields. Within 12km of the villa, you can find mountain bike trails, equestrian centres, a golf course, mountain peaks and even hot air balloon rides. Whatever you like doing outdoors, you’ll find it here in the Regional Park of the Alpilles which is on your doorstep.
