Parking Space Romantic

As you relax beneath the 500-year old olive tree, gaze out to the incredible landscapes around you at this beautiful residence in the Bresque valley, close to the edge of the Verdon Natural Regional Park.

There are so many hidden corners to be discovered at this special place. Start off by the private swimming pool with its gorgeous views, then come across the little chapel and the unique cave with its own natural water source. Head back to Mediterranean garden and soak up the summer aromas of lavender, rosemary and thyme, then admire the olive grove and woodland across the 2.5 hectare estate.

Sleeping up to 18 guests, Palais Du Sud offers versatile accommodation for a large group of friends or extended family. The main villa offers elegance and space with its wood-beamed lounge and dining area and fully-equipped kitchen showcasing the iconic hexagonal tiles that are crafted in the surrounding area. Here there are four sumptuous en suite bedrooms across the ground and first floor, alongside a vast terrace and hall designed with events in mind. The adjacent 2-bedroom suite, with its own kitchenette and private terrace with barbecue, is equally as inviting.

Then there’s the idyllic little cottage, set by itself with a double and a twin and its own comfortable lounge and side kitchen, opening out to the prettiest of pergolas for al-fresco dining. Finally, the studio annexe is a characterful cabanon, ideal for a couple and it’s perfectly located near the swimming pool.

Other than embracing the Provençal beauty and history of this magnificent setting, there is so much to explore around you. Firstly there is the charming local village, less than 3km away, with its café terraces beneath the plane trees, old fountains, pottery studios and ceramics museum. You are also close to the perched village of Sillans-la-Cascade and its waterfalls reached only on foot.

Potter around other picture-perfect historic villages, visit the famous Tuesday morning market in Lorgues and sample the wines of Côtes de Provence in nearby vineyards and wineries. Head north for canoeing, kayaking and pedal boat hire on Lac de Sainte-Croix, just half an hour away by car, and venture towards the spectacular Gorges du Verdon, a paradise for outdoor adventurists.

You can even reach the sandy shores of the Mediterranean within an hour by driving to the French Riviera towns of historic Fréjus and sophisticated Saint-Raphaël or wind through the Maures hills towards Sainte-Maxime and catch a ferry to experience the glamour of Saint-Tropez for the day!

Palais Du Sud is located in the Upper Var, 10km south of the town of Aups (considered the gateway to the Verdon Natural Regional Park) and around one-hour from Fréjus and the French Riviera coastline. Arrive by air in to Toulon-Hyères, Marseille Provence or Nice Airport whilst the TGV direct train service from Paris Gare de Lyon to Les Arcs-Draguignan (32km), takes 4 hours 40 minutes.

The residence and its vast grounds are situated just off a country road connecting the local village to other characterful villages, not far from the waterfalls near Sillans-la-Cascade. Between sea and mountains, it is also a great base for visiting the Gorges du Verdon.

The nearest village is less than 3km by car, a charming Var village in the Bresque valley with pretty lanes, old fountains, café terraces beneath the plane trees and the ruins of the old château above the village. It is known for its production of the iconic hexagonal terracotta tiles (tomettes) and ceramics are also made here – the village’s pottery shops attract visitors from the region and the Terra Rossa Maison de la Céramique is worthy of a visit.

Take time to visit other traditional towns and villages close by including Tourtour (13km), one of France’s classified ‘Plus Beaux Villages’ with its idyllic main square and weekly market, Villecroze (7km) and its troglodyte cave dwellings and Entrecasteaux (10km), a medieval village of great historic charm, home to Château d'Entrecasteaux.

In the other direction is the small village of Sillans-la-Cascade (4.5km) where there is a hike to the waterfall, Cascade de Sillans, for the most breathtaking scenery. Further afield, enjoy more spectacular landscapes as you venture towards Lac de Sainte-Croix (28km) and the Verdon Natural Regional Park, home to the Gorges du Verdon. Discover wonderful walking, hiking, canoeing, kayaking and bird-watching opportunities.

Slightly closer to home, admire the impressive L’Abbaye du Thoronet (26km), experience the fantastic Tuesday morning market in Lorgues (18km), one of the largest in the Var, and sample wines in local vineyards and wineries just north of the Côtes de Provence wine region, especially near Draguignan (25km) and Vidauban (29km).

If you urge to see the sea, drive south to the French Riviera in just over an hour, passing the Maures hills, and spend the day soaking up the charm of family-friendly Sainte-Maxime (57km) or the allure of Saint-Tropez (69km). Alternatively, head south-east towards historic Fréjus (54km), elegant Saint-Raphaël (60km) and its wonderful beaches on the Côte d'Azur.
