Live like a local in this charming village house with a gorgeous terrace and small pool in the Mourillon neighbourhood of Toulon. Imagine strolling out for a morning swim at the nearby beach before returning home with fresh croissants and bread for everyone.
Maison Mourillon is a small yet authentic family home where the owners and their three children once lived. It therefore allows you to embrace the French way of life, away from the main tourist crowds elsewhere on the French Riviera, whilst being close to many gems of this part of southern France.
There’s a contemporary vibe across the living-dining space and open-plan kitchen whilst stylish furnishings and décor add character to this modern home. The maison sleeps up to 8 guests across its four bedrooms (two doubles, a children’s room with bunk-beds and a bedroom with a cot), there is an office where 2 guests can also sleep and there are two bathrooms, each one with a bath or shower.
The garden patio is a delightful spot for a morning coffee or evening aperitif as well as convivial al-fresco meals by the plancha-style barbecue. Within a separate inner courtyard, there’s also a small pool, just perfect for cooling off on warm summer days.
In one direction you can wander down to Plage du Mourillon, a sandy beach backed by summer restaurants, or walk the other way to the shops, restaurants and weekly market in the Mourillon neighbourhood.
The heart of Toulon is merely 2km away, passing the bustling port en route. Explore the city’s old quarter and street market on Cours Lafayette, pick up all sorts of delicious gourmet produce at Les Halles, learn about Toulon’s rich maritime heritage and take the cable car up Mont Faron for incredible views.
Hop on a ferry to the idyllic Île de Porquerolles for a wonderful day out or drive to nearby villages to soak up the seaside ambience in places such as La Seyne-sur-Mer, Sanary-sur-Mer and Bandol. Enjoy a range of adventurous watersports around Six-Fours-Les Plages or potter around the evening summer markets by the beach at Les Sablettes.
Not to mention incredible hiking and biking paths through the Janas Forest, coastal walking trails along Le Sentier du Littoral and the famous vineyards in the hills of Bandol.

About the surrounding area of Maison MourillonThis village house is located in the Mourillon neighbourhood of Toulon, just a short stroll to restaurants, shops and the beautiful Plage du Mourillon.
Toulon Hyères Airport is 20km by car/taxi (or bus to Toulon) whilst Toulon’s train station is around 2.5km away – it takes just under 4 hours and 30 minutes to travel to Toulon from Paris Gare de Lyon on the TGV train service.
Wander out of your home and within minutes you will reach the neighbourhood’s restaurants, shops and market which sells local cheeses, fish, fruit, vegetables and other delights, open every morning except Monday. Food lovers should also head to Toulon’s newly reopened Les Halles, a gourmet food hall in an elegant Art Deco building, not forgetting the daily morning market (except Mondays) on Cours Lafayette, in the city centre under 2km away.
The blue-flag beach at Plage du Mourillon, also within a short walk, is a much-loved spot in the neighbourhood, especially in the height of the summer with its bustling beachside restaurants, activities for children and choice of watersports.
Of course, the city of Toulon is waiting to be explored with its rich maritime heritage, large harbourfront, grand 19th century quarter and characterful old town. You can explore the harbour and bay by boat and take the famous cable car all the way to the top of Mont Faron for sensational vistas of the surrounding area.
Further afield, keen walkers should follow the walking trail, Le Sentier du Littoral, which follows this part of the beautiful French coast, or drive into the Janas forest for hiking, biking, horse-riding and yet more spectacular scenery by the sea. Visit gorgeous seaside towns such as Sanary-sur-Mer and Bandol, enjoy a day at the beach at Les Sablettes, try out kite or windsurfing along the beaches of Six-Fours-Les Plages and Le Giens peninsula or sample wines in the vineyards of Bandol.
Another wonderful day out is a trip to the magnificent Île de Porquerolles, a car-free island reached via ferry from Toulon (or La Tour Fondue) where you can hire bikes and cycle along paths to pristine Caribbean-like beaches or head through the hills to admire the undulating landscapes of vineyards, eucalyptus trees and pine forests.

Best Suited For: All AgesLocated in the authentic Mourillon neighbourhood, you can stroll down to the beach in minutes where you will find summer restaurants, a sandy shore and gorgeous water for paddling and swimming. This man-made city beach is especially popular in the summer months and it is backed by a park area with a small playground and a little amusement area called ‘Kiddy Land’ which is usually open in the height of the summer.
Look out for summer events such as fireworks and other festivities along this part of the Toulon coastline and follow the beach further along for mini-golf, a basketball court and the Yacht Club de Toulon where you can hire sea-kayaks, stand-up paddle boards and partake in other water-based activities.
Other attractions in Toulon include a cable car ride up to Mont Faron for incredible views as well as museums such as Musée National de la Marine on the harbourfront. There is also a tourist road train that drives around the city and you can take boat tours of the bay.
Further afield, soak up the ambience of the summer evening markets near the beach at Les Sabelettes, enjoy the wide range of watersports around the beaches of Six-Fours-Les Plages, hike or bike through the Janas Forest, also the home to La Foret des 4 Monde activity centre, and enjoy pottering around seaside villages such as Sanary-sur-Mer and Bandol.
