It’s the simple things in life that bring us a sense of tranquillity; a table peppered with delicious flavours and tastes, a baby blue pool to ease into in order to escape the heat of another ethereal day and being surrounded by the beauty and serenity of nature. When you supercharge the little things with a touch of elegance and luxury, they become all the more beautiful.

May we introduce you to Villa Hermina, here to welcome your group to a peaceful paradise. A traditional stone property near Sinj, you can enjoy amazing views of Cetina, the striking river valley. Completed with a heated pool, hot tub and four bedrooms. As a fully renovated property with a traditional exterior, you may find yourself experiencing the best of the old and new worlds. Furnished in a vintage style, you’ll also find plenty of light, brightness, and modernity to ensure that you enjoy your vacation. Your villa is located in the tiny village of Gala, close to Sinj, which is further inland from Split, one of Dubrovnik’s most popular tourist destinations. This gives you great proximity to Split’s glamour and prestige, but ensures you get to retreat to a part of the country where things move at a slower, gentler pace.

Your villa is here to bring you all the comforts you need to feel at home, including full air-conditioning throughout the property, Wi-Fi and three parking places secured on your own private plot. Able to accommodate eight people, this is the perfect choice for friends seeking fun or a family wanting quality together time.

You’ll also find a kitchen fully equipped to meet your needs, a comfortable living and dining room, two master bedrooms complete with en-suite bathrooms and two further bedrooms each with two single beds. Their open-concept design is utterly modern. One of the bedrooms is located in the attic and kitted out with a PlayStation 4 and Smart TV which may make it the envy of all. A family bathroom is shared between the two rooms – ideal to be shared by siblings.

Outside you’ll truly be able to take in the beauty of the surrounding area. Life in the Med is designed to be lived outdoors – the concept of bringing the indoors outside is hugely popular. You’ll be able to enjoy you covered and shaded dining area complete with fireplace for those more chilly evenings. Here you can make traditional Dalmatian specialties or try some of the local tipple. You can also make use of your own private heated pool, hot-tub and play a game of outdoor table tennis.

The views are truly something to behold – the verdant countryside stretches all around and most promisingly, you’ll get to enjoy the striking views of the Cetina River and neighbouring valley.

One of the most enchanting aspects of this property is its proximity to nature and the wild world. Wake up to the sweet songs of birds and the sounds of the natural world around you. If you prefer peace and quiet served with a slice of serenity with lashings of nature, then Villa Hermina is ideal for you.

What you should know…

  • This villa is very much here to allow you to escape the hustle and bustle of the modern world. A car will enable you to explore further afield which we’d thoroughly recommend.
  • Although the villa is designed with safety as a priority, please ensure that children are supervised, particularly around the pool and spiral staircase.
  • A phrasebook and some cash will get you a long way particularly in some of the tinier towns.

Your home away from home is located 7km from Sinj town, an area centred in the very heart of Dalmatia. But we’re not just talking about geographically. Here you’ll find a very compelling sense of the local spirit. The history and culture of the area are powerful and palpable – it is here that brave locals fought to protect the Dalmatian Coast from Turkish invasions.

Not far from Split, the sophisticated city of many visitors, you’re positioned perfectly in the River Cetina Valley and eclipsed by three rather majestic mountains. These are the Kamešnica, Svilaja, and Dinara, all of which make for breath-taking (literally and figuratively) hikes.

Sinj itself is a geographically diverse area where you can enjoy mountains, rivers, and forests – if you’re a nature lover, you’ll find everything you’re looking for. You’re also close to some of the cosy essentials that make life easy – for example your closest minimarket is 0.5k from your villa, and you’ll also find a pizzeria and bar nearby.

Sinj itself is an 11-minute drive from your property. Nearby you can enjoy Peručko lake, a picturesque location where you can enjoy the sunshine, indulge in a picnic or swim in the beautiful water.

For those who seek a touch more adrenaline there are opportunities to exercise this daredevil streak on the Cetina River with white-water rafting or canoeing on the Cetina River, a 40-minute drive away. There is a family friendly option, which is suitable for children from the age of eight upwards, and a more challenging course. Both courses last approximately three hours and may prove to be a highlight of your holiday.

You may also wish to horse ride in the stunning wilds of the area and may allow you to reach untouched areas, including fascinating old villages seemingly frozen in time. One of the most exciting aspects of the area is the versatile and varied terrain. Sinj itself is well worth visiting. A game called Alka was invented here – you may wish to play. It’s known as a knights’ game and has become a staple of the area ever since. You can find out more by visiting the Sinj Museum which will take you on an interactive and innovative trip into the area and feed any thirst for knowledge you may have.

If you require a further shot of adrenaline, you must head to the mountains on a quad safari. This is a marvellous way to explore this unique part of the world. Here you can enjoy the amazing landscapes of the Dalmatian inlands and enjoy Kamešnica mountain. There’s also the option to partake in a river tour via canoe where you can truly forge memories that will last a lifetime. For those who prefer to explore the landscape via bicycle, there are numerous biking trails that will take you deep into the very soul of Dalmatia. Go off the beaten track and explore the hidden corners of this beautiful country.

If you decide to venture into Split, which we’d highly recommend, you can enjoy a tremendous array of historical attractions including the stunning old town, the mighty Diocletian Palace, and the nearby Krka waterfalls. For a short trip, the tiny town of Trogir, which is UNESCO protected, is a wonderfully authentic way to explore old Croatia and transport yourself back in time.

You may even wish to explore further afield and visit the enchanting walled city of Dubrovnik. With so much to do, it’s up to you to decide how to best spend your time.

The city of Split, with its magnificent historical sites, scenic coastal vistas, and a welcoming local atmosphere, is a must-visit destination for travellers in search of the perfect balance of culture, relaxation, and adventure. Nestled along the captivating Dalmatian Coast, it’s a vibrant mix of modern life and ancient history, making it a thriving hub for both locals and tourists.

The heart of Split is the historic Diocletian's Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that stands as one of the best-preserved Roman monuments in the world. Built for the Roman Emperor Diocletian in the 4th century, this massive complex now forms the nucleus of the city. Within the palace walls, you'll discover a labyrinth of narrow streets, charming squares, and historic buildings. The Peristyle, an open-air courtyard, is a central gathering place, and both the Cathedral of Saint Domnius and the Temple of Jupiter showcase remarkable examples of ancient architecture. Strolling through the ancient streets, you'll come across quaint shops, lively cafes, and local markets.

The Riva promenade is the city's vibrant waterfront hub. Lined with cafes, restaurants, and shops, it's the perfect place to enjoy a leisurely stroll, sip a coffee, or dine while overlooking the stunning Adriatic Sea. The palm-lined promenade offers a lively atmosphere day and night, with street performers and events throughout the year.

Just a short walk from the from the centre of Split is Marjan Hill, a pristine nature park that offers a peaceful retreat from the bustling city streets. The park features lush greenery, jogging trails, and stunning viewpoints overlooking the city and the sea. It's an ideal place for hiking, picnicking, or simply enjoying the natural beauty of the Mediterranean.

The Split region offers a variety of beautiful beaches. Bacvice and Ovcice are two popular choices conveniently located near the city centre. The sandy shores are perfect for sunbathing, swimming, and trying your hand at the local beach sport, picigin. Exploring further along the coast, you'll find numerous rocky coves and pebble beaches, each with their own unique charm.

For adventure seekers, Split offers a wide array of outdoor activities and water sports. From kayaking and paddle-boarding to sailing and scuba diving, there's something for everyone who wants to experience the Adriatic up close. Split is a great base for taking boat trips to the nearby islands, where you can explore underwater caves and secluded beaches.

Croatian cuisine is known for its fresh, local ingredients and Mediterranean influence. You’ll be able to savour delicious seafood, grilled meats, and traditional recipes. To experience authentic Croatian flavours, visit the local konoba (taverns) that serve traditional dishes like pasticada (a slow-cooked beef stew), and peka (baked meat and vegetables). Pair your meal with local wines and olive oils for a complete gastronomic experience.

Split is a city of remarkable beauty and historical significance. Whether you're exploring ancient streets, soaking up the sun on pristine beaches, or indulging in delectable local cuisine, Split promises an unforgettable experience. Its blend of stunning natural landscapes, ancient history, and a welcoming Mediterranean lifestyle makes it a destination that offers something for every traveller.

Croatia is a fantastic family choice for a plethora of reasons. It has a gorgeous climate, friendly and welcoming locals, enthralling natural beauty, a plentiful array of delicious food and a beautiful blend of adventure and relaxation, as well as a charismatic culture and intriguing history. Croatia truly has something for everyone.

Kids will be safe here and there will be enough to captivate the senses regardless of their age. At your villa, the family can enjoy all the comforts of home, including a hot tub, heated pool, and outdoor table tennis. There are many communal areas for you to gather as a family for an outdoor meal by the fireplace or sat inside around a big kitchen table. With so many options to unite together, quality time is not hard to come by. You can easily create little routines and structures and carve out time together.

You’re very close to the town of Sinj which is a wonderful way to penetrate some of the local culture and history and to learn more about the fierce spirit of the local people, known for fighting courageously to protect their homeland from a series of Turkish invasions. You might find it hard to believe that sleepy Sinj was the source of such dramatics, but history begs to differ!

Within the surrounding area you can enjoy the River Cetina Valley and the three neighbouring mountains of Kamešnica, Svilaja, and Dinara. Here you can enjoy an endless array of hikes for all levels. Geographically striking, you can enjoy not just the mountains but the rivers and forests, ideal for those who adore being let loose in nature.

Older children and teenagers can easily wander to the local minimarket or pizzeria with friends and the area is safe and welcoming to visitors. Some local money and a grasp of the language (a phrasebook or translation app may come in handy) can assist all members of the family.

For a special day out, you can drive to Peručko lake for a picnic and afternoon of swimming and sunbathing. You’re likely to be more in the company of locals than fellow travellers which can be a huge part of the areas charm.

Older teenagers may want to test their mettle and tenacity with white-water rafting or canoeing on the gorgeous Cetina River. Younger children above the age of eight can also enjoy a more leisurely adventure on the river. Mum or dad may wish to film or take pictures from a secure distance!

Another fantastic and family friendly option is horse riding which exposes you to some very unique parts of the country. You can also walk or bike through quaint local villages and take in an older, softer way of life. For those with a thirst for learning, the Sinj museum is a wonderful place to whittle away some time – you can learn more about the knight’s game of Alka in an interactive and immersive way.

If another adventure is required, the mountains may call you for a quad safari. You’ll go inland and deeper into the mountains. You may also like to take a canoe tour of the river or take your bike (or feet) to explore hidden trails – a wonderful way to bring Croatia to life beyond the hedonism of the tourist areas.

Split is well worth a visit and is one of the most sensational cities. There are a huge array of historical attractions to enjoy as well as a lively promenade, city parks and lush beaches. Close by you can take in the splendour of the Krka waterfalls or take a trip to Trogir for a true taste of old Dalmatia.
Days at the beach, by the pool, at a lively taverna or further afield to Dubrovnik or distant islands are all options. Regardless of age, there’s no dearth of things to do.

  • We would recommend to anyone!

    on 11/08/2023

This house is absolutely stunning. We decided as three families we wanted a little more space, and were happy to be a bit more inland to get that and we were so glad we did.. The house was so well set up for our holiday, the pool and hot tub were fantastic, the seating areas so well thought through. For us the 3 standouts were the outdoor dining kitchen area which is where we spent all our time, the swimming pool which all of us loved, a really good sized pool and last but not least the views. We will really miss the views, like looking at the most beautiful painting. It was such a peaceful place the nature around was amazing, yet you are only a five minute walk from a small supermarket where we walked for fresh pastries each morning, and about a five min drive from Sinj for many more shops, larger supermarkets, bars and cafes. Owners were on hand for everything we needed, especially with lots of local info, but never intrusive. The welcome gift was a very nice and thoughtful gesture as well after a long day travelling.

  • Wonderful vacation

    on 10/06/2023

We spent our vacation in the wonderful Villa Hermina with a group of eight (four adults and four children). The villa exceeded all our expectations and was just perfect for our needs! The location was very peaceful and the surrounding countryside was wonderful. It was a short walk from the villa to the village, where you could find the necessary services such as a grocery store and a few restaurants. The villa itself was great! Our days were mostly spent swimming in the wonderful pool, relaxing in the hot tub and sunbathing in the yard. We enjoyed breakfast and lunch on the covered terrace, where we also spent movie nights. The views from the villa were breathtaking, especially at sunset. Villa hosts lived right next to the villa and were very nice. We will definitely come back to Villa Hermina in the future.

  • Beautiful
