Villa Marella is situated in the beautiful village of Rogoznica, a popular tourist destination that lies in the southernmost part of Sibenik-Knin County. Set within a cove and sheltered from the strong winds, here you’ll find plenty of bars, restaurants and shops to enjoy as well as cafes, a sports centre, swimming pools and a nightclub. The beaches in the area are a mixture of sandy and rocky and don’t get too crowded, so you should have no problem finding a quiet spot to relax and unwind. Most are equipped with toilets, showers and changing rooms and have parasols and sun loungers to rent.

Rogoznica has a proud tradition in fishing that carries on today, so it’s no surprise that fresh fish is always on the menu here. You’ll find no end of restaurants offering a variety of fish and meat dishes, including octopus salad, steaks, and fish carpaccio. While you’re here, it’s well worth hiring a small boat to explore the beautiful coastline, where you’ll find plenty of secluded bays and small islands. If you’d rather stay inland, you’ll find the Church of the Assumption in the town centre, a marvellous piece of architecture harking back to 1746, as well as the Church of St Nicholas, which was built in the middle ages.

Suppose natural phenomena are your particular area of interest. In that case, you’ll be pleased to know that it’s near the Marina Frapa that you’ll find the lake Zmajevo Oko, or ‘Dragon’s Eye’, an irregular, oval-shaped body of water that acts as a natural bioreactor and is a must-see sight while you’re holidaying here.

Everything you’re going to need for your stay is available in Rogoznica. There are several good-sized supermarkets in the area and a pharmacy, market, post office, souvenir shops, and fish market - making self-catering and buying gifts to take home a breeze.

After enjoying a sun-soaked day on the beaches and taking in the picturesque surroundings, you might be lucky enough to stumble across one of the regular Rogoznica fishing nights, where good music, fish, wine, olive oil and bread are enjoyed among a festival-type atmosphere. Once you’ve had your fill, why not relax in one of the many bars in the area with a few cocktails before heading to the nearby town of Primosten and the famous Aurora nightclub to dance the night away

Region

The quaint coastal town of Rogoznica, situated between the vibrant cities of Split and Šibenik, is a paradise for those seeking a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of modern life. With its idyllic setting, inviting beaches, and a good dose of history and culture, Rogoznica is the perfect destination for a memorable vacation.

The heart of Rogoznica is its old town, which is a maze of narrow streets and stone buildings that date back to ancient times. A stroll through the cobblestone streets is a great way to get to know the town, taking in the charming architecture, and stopping at local cafes and shops along the way. The town is a seamless blend of old-world charm and modern luxury, and exploring on foot is a wonderful way to experience this.

One of the town's highlights is the Church of St. Nicholas, a stunning architectural masterpiece that overlooks the marina. This 15th-century church is not only a place of worship but also a symbol of the town's rich history. The nearby fortress, Gradina, is another must-visit spot. The fort offers panoramic views across the town and the turquoise waters, making it a fantastic place for photographs and a little historical exploration.

Rogoznica is known for its magnificent Marina Frapa, a world-class yacht marina and a destination in itself. The marina is a luxurious hub for sailing enthusiasts and travellers who enjoy the maritime lifestyle. Stroll along the promenade, have a meal in one of the waterfront restaurants, and admire the yachts in the harbour.

Rogoznica's captivating environment extends beyond the town itself. Its location between the historic cities of Split and Šibenik, each approximately 30 kilometres away, serves as a perfect base for exploring the Dalmatian coastline of Croatia. You can easily reach these culturally rich destinations for day trips while enjoying the peaceful ambiance of Rogoznica as your base.

Nearby, there are several attractions that provide a glimpse into the region's natural beauty. One of the most famous is Lake Zmajevo Oko, or the “Dragon's Eye Lake”, situated just a few kilometres inland. Surrounded by lush forests and rocky terrain, this unique saltwater lake is said to have been created by a meteor impact, and it is both a geological and ecological wonder.

If you're an adventurous traveler, the region offers a variety of outdoor activities that are sure to satisfy your craving for exploration. Hiking and biking trails cover the area, revealing breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes. The Kozja Staza trail is a notable route that leads you through olive groves and vineyards, offering a glimpse into the traditional Mediterranean way of life.

Rogoznica is a place of timeless beauty, with history, culture, and natural wonders working together to create a truly memorable vacation experience. From its charming old town and enchanting marina to the delectable cuisine and a plethora of outdoor activities, this coastal haven has it all. Immerse yourself in the magic of Rogoznica, and you'll leave with cherished memories and a longing to return to this Croatian paradise.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

For older children/teenagers in particular, Villa Marella is bursting with features that will make their holiday particularly memorable - including double rooms with ensuite bathrooms, recreational facilities such as darts and table football, free WiFi, sauna and a gym. Younger children will enjoy splashing about in their own private pool, as well exploring the spacious rooms - and guests of all ages are sure to be wowed by the incredible sea views.

Parents of little ones will want to be vigilant when the kids are playing around the pool area, as there is no barrier of any kind, as well as making sure that they are supervised near the bbq and the fireplace in the living area.
The village of Rogoznica is a popular choice with families holidaying in Croatia, and offers a lot for kids to enjoy. There are plenty of pebble and sandy beaches in the area, as well as ice-cream shops and smoothie parlours, bicycle and boat hire, and many fascinating historical and natural sights to explore. Among them is the Dragon’s Eye, a salt water lake where, according to local legend, a dragon sleeps. Of course, the kids might not actually see the legendary creature, but get them to watch out for the water changing colour, as that is said to be a sure sign of the beast awakening…

The town of Primosten is just 20 minutes away, and is well-worth a visit if you are holidaying in the region, if only for a day out at Raduca beach. It is a pebble beach, not sand, but beach shoes are readily and cheaply available at most of the little shops along the coast if the kids don’t have suitable footwear. One properly attired, the whole family will enjoy  splashing about in the clear, clean water, which features plenty of shallow areas as well as deeper waters -  although it should be noted that there is no lifeguard at Raduca Beach. Sun loungers and parasols are available for hire here, and in the summer months there are often attractions such as bouncy castles and trampolines set up on the beach, so the kids can let off some steam while you sit back and enjoy the sea air.
