What you should know…

  • Pine needles from the neighbouring trees may fall into the pool. Please let the owner know if this poses a problem so they can be removed for you. It’s easily achieved with a net!
  • This is a very family-oriented property in a safe area, but we’d recommend monitoring children as always, especially as the beach is close by.
  • Please do ensure you carry cash as well as card when exploring more remote areas and small towns. A phrase book may also help you out in a pinch, though English is generally well spoken.

Your gorgeous new home is above the coastal road in Duce, close to the tiny town of Omis and the Cetina River. The area is wonderful for beach access and swimming, thanks to its many beaches, both sandy and pebble.

You might want to enjoy sunbathing, reading, swimming, snorkelling, or relaxing in the lulling Mediterranean heat, but the area is also wonderful for those seeking some more adventurous fun too.

The area specialises in rafting, zip-lining, canyoning, canoeing, free climbing, hiking, cycling trails and many water sports and water-based activities. So, if slow and sleepy isn’t quite your thing, you’ll be well catered for. With the Adriatic on your doorstep, the water represents a whole new world for those who seek some adrenaline and excitement.

There’s also plenty of history to absorb as you explore the old part of town. From Duce, you may also wish to rent a boat to explore the water and take in the coastal views. The world looks different from the water.

Have you seen the beautiful island of Brac from your balcony? This island is well worth a visit, as its completely unspoilt. It’s home to the famous Zlatni Rat beach, a stunning triangle of gorgeous white sands and lush greenery, and a wonderful place to see all forms of marine life, it’s also known as the ‘golden horn’ of the area, and when you see it, you’ll understand why.

The monastery of Blaca is a beautiful place to explore, but make sure you bring good walking shoes, sunscreen, and an umbrella to protect yourself from the powerful sun.

Supetar Bay is relatively peaceful and wonderfully photogenic – a great place to enjoy local life and people watch. You might want to experience wine-tasting in Stina, a stunning little winery with a plethora of options for connoisseurs.

We’d also recommend ‘dragons cave’, so named for the relic of a dragon found inside. This will absolutely capture the imaginations of your party, and you’ll also learn a great deal about the history of the local area.

You can’t go to Croatia and bypass Split, which is only a half-hour drive away. There’s a huge amount to do here, let Split dazzle you with its history, culture, bustle, beaches, promenade, bars and restaurants, and fantastical narrow streets. There’s a modern side to Split of course. Swathes of Game of Thrones was filmed here, which makes for some intriguing adventures for those who enjoyed the hit show.

You can also take a trip to the town of Trogir, which is a 45-minute drive away, or visit the Krka waterfalls.

Region

The Dalmatian coast is a veritable treasure trove of stunning landscapes and historic towns, and Omis, situated halfway between the famous port city of Split and the energetic town of Maksarka, is no exception. With its rich history, scenic backdrop, and a plethora of attractions, Omis stands out as a unique and captivating destination for those seeking to explore the charm of Croatia. The town's history is deeply intertwined with its dramatic geographical setting, which is dominated by the imposing Cetina River Canyon and the Mosor Mountain Range.

The old town of Omis, with its narrow cobblestone streets and stone houses, is a place where history and culture converge. It’s a charming place to explore on foot and soak up the local way of life. There are a number of historic churches that you’ll come across while exploring - the Church of St. Michael, the Church of St. Peter, and the Church of St. Rocco, which all showcase intricate architectural details and a sense of reverence. The old town is also home to an abundance of restaurants, cafes, and local shops, it’s an excellent spot to savour authentic Croatian dishes and find unique souvenirs.

One of the most prominent historical attractions in the town is the Mirabella Fortress, often called Peovica. Perched high on a rocky outcrop, this fortress was built during the 13th century and was used as a hideout by the notorious Omis pirates who terrorised the Adriatic Sea. Today, visitors can climb up the steep path to the fortress and enjoy panoramic views of the town, the coast, and the surrounding landscapes.

Omis boasts a pristine stretch of coastline with a variety of beaches, each catering to different tastes. One of the most popular is the sandy beach at the mouth of the Cetina River, offering calm waters perfect for swimming and sunbathing. Adventurous spirits may prefer the pebbly beach of Brzet, known for its perfect conditions for windsurfing and kitesurfing. Just a short drive from Omis, there's the small village of Stanici, which is renowned for its unspoiled beaches and crystal-clear waters. It's a serene place to relax and escape the crowds often found in more touristy locations.

The Cetina River is a defining feature of Omis, and one of the most exhilarating activities here is to take a rafting excursion along its emerald waters. The river cuts through the impressive Cetina Canyon, creating a thrilling white-water rafting experience that appeals to adventure seekers and nature lovers alike. The journey offers panoramic views of the rugged cliffs, lush forests, and the charming villages that dot the landscape.

The nearby Biokovo Nature Park is an outstanding natural attraction. The Biokovo Mountain Range, part of the Dinaric Alps, offers incredible hiking opportunities, with well-marked trails leading to panoramic viewpoints where you can marvel at the Adriatic Sea and the islands scattered along the coast. The juxtaposition of the rugged mountain terrain and the azure waters is simply stunning and will leave a lasting impression.

The history, natural beauty, and cultural vitality of Omis combine to create a destination that is rich in character and charm. Whether you're seeking adventure on the Cetina River, exploring the medieval fortresses, or simply savouring the local cuisine, Omis has something to offer every traveller who ventures to this utterly enchanting corner of the Dalmatian coast.

Croatia is the ideal destination for families. It has a peaceful, gentle, warm, and welcoming way of life, wonderful weather, immense beauty, and plenty to do. Your villa is here to keep your family safe and entertained. They can enjoy access to their own heated pool, sit in the jacuzzi and enjoy the fun and frolics of the media room, where they can game, watch Netflix or make their own fun.

There are plenty of areas to enjoy connecting as a family. Get the barbeque fired up and enjoy a delicious al fresco meal outdoors or sit inside and enjoy the tastes and flavours of the Mediterranean.

Positioned close to Omis, you are mere seconds from a series of sandy and pebble beaches, ideal for swimming, snorkelling, and spending family time. It’s easy to whittle away many a day here in the warm and inviting waters.

There are many restaurants and bars nearby should you wish to escape the heat and enjoy some local Croatian fare or a quick drink. Whether you enjoy the local specialities or more global tastes, you can find it all here.

Older children may be inclined to explore their sense of courage. If so, here’s the place to do it. There’s no need to be bored when you can enjoy rafting, zip-lining, canoeing, canyoning, climbing, hiking, cycling, boat trips and water sports. You’ll never run out of things to do.

If history and culture are more your thing, head to the old part of town. The slow, sleepy vibe harks back to an ancient past.

Your kids will no doubt have set their sights on Brac, which you can view from your property. This is the place to go for nature that has been untampered with and the beautiful ‘golden horn’ of Zlatni Rat beach. We’d also recommend the pretty Supetar Bay.

Naturally, children adore fantasy and magic, and the ‘dragon’s cave’ is a great place to learn more about the relic of a dragon found within. It’s a wonderful way to merge a bit of magic with understanding more about Croatia’s history and culture.

Split is a dream to share with the family and is only a half-hour drive away. You can relax on the promenade, enjoy an extensive list of restaurants and bars (all catered to families), check out the beach and meander its narrow streets. Many families were fans of Game of Thrones when it aired, and here you can take in some of the notable areas used for filming the show.

Whatever your family’s preference, prepare for an adventure.

  • What a beautiful villa

    on 17/09/2022

Stayed here with my family for my 30th birthday. I will never forget it! Spotlessly clean and even a snack platter and beers in the fridge upon arrival. Only checked out this morning and can't wait to come back! AMAZING!

  • Everything you could want

    on 03/09/2022

We had a lovely week at this villa, everything was perfect, we were met by the lovely Sunny who showed us round the villa, they had left us some plates of nibbles to have that evening and later on in the week made us some lovely apple strudel. The villa was spotlessly clean and had everything you would want.

  • Can’t wait to return!

    on 30/07/2022

The Villa is the perfect home away from home. We had an incredible stay. It is a few steps from the beach, a handful of restaurants and small shops, and a short taxi to Omis. The Villa truly is 5* with the heated jacuzzi and pool. We highly recommend this Villa.
