Tucked in the streets of Makarska, between the coast and mountains, lies Villa Mojca. This stylish villa is the perfect escape for your holiday and sleeps ten to twelve guests in five bedrooms.

The main communal space is on the first floor: a stylish open-plan living, dining and a fully equipped kitchen. There is a luxury in every detail. Impressive paintings hang on the wall, with vases and trinkets on the shelves giving homey touches to the ample space. A leather caramel sofa runs across one wall, with a dining table seating eight guests on the other side. The kitchen is tucked into the corner with a breakfast bar, reflective countertops, and cabinets.

A family bathroom and two bedrooms are also on the first floor. The remaining three bedrooms are spread out across the above floors. Every detail is thought of as you make your way through the villa. Even the staircase is in line with the villa's luxury details, taking you up the floors above. Each room is comfortable with flat-screen TVs and artistic shelving with quirky ornaments to make the space feel at home.

All five bedrooms have luxury ensuites, including a shower and free-standing bathtub. Marble floors run underneath as you take in the breathtaking views of the Adriatic Sea and neighbouring mountains. In the master bedroom, the bath is free-standing in the bedroom, giving you views of the sea while you soak in the bubbles. To make your stay even more relaxing, each bedroom has a balcony, the perfect place to take your morning coffee or watch the sunset as you get ready for the evening.
On the top floor is a luxury wooden-sided jacuzzi and sauna, adding another effortless aspect to your stay. Plus, there is another living area and an additional kitchen, so you don't have to carry up everything you need for an evening above the terracotta rooftops of the local town.

Outside the villa, you can access a private heated pool to use at your leisure. Sun loungers are ready for you to relax in, with a seating area filled with comfortable chairs to soak up the sun. A dining table is underneath the cover of the second floor and, with the open fireplace, is the perfect way to spend an evening as a family.

Air-conditioning flows throughout the villa, along with Wi-Fi. The villa also has an elevator, making all three floors available for everyone to access. The real holiday start outside the front door with the Croatian coastline and countryside waiting for you to explore.

Villa Mojca is nestled in the streets of Makarska, a popular tourist spot along the Croatian coastline. Makarska balances the prominent mountains with the flourishing waters of the Adriatic Sea, with entertainment and local cuisine scattered in the streets in between. Enjoy walks along the harbour's key side and delve deeper into the town's past by visiting Kacic Square, lined with historic buildings and filled with culture and art; it is known as the heart of the old town of Makarska. Seek peace in St. Peter Forest Park, between the harbour and the beach. This park is centred around the century-old church of St. Petar. A beautifully authentic building that captures the softness of this coastline with its white bricks, simple design and outstanding views of the sea and mountains. Known for its sandy and pebbled beaches, the Makarska beach is almost two km long.

Behind the villa, travelling away from the coast lies Biokovo Nature Park. A historic mountainous park littered with hiking trails and scenic walks waiting to be explored. Highlighting the region's deep history are the ruins and historic architecture scattered within the park and neighbouring towns. It is important to note that the trails range in ability, some only to be attempted by experienced climbers- be careful which you choose to take. A ten-minute incline from the villa is the Botanical gardens, a part of the park. You will need sensible footwear and plenty of water to hydrate as the entrance and gardens are on steep inclines but well worth the vast views of the coast below you. The church of St. Ante is also within walking distance from the villa and is a beautifully maintained building with white walls filled with simplicity and peace.

Famed for its coastline, this area has many beaches to offer. Further afield is Nugal Beach. Although it has no facilities and is a difficult beach to reach, the dramatic white cliffs that encircle the beach and the shade of the pine trees make this a rare find.

From the port of Makarska, you could venture by ferry to the island of Brač. Famed for its white-pebbled beaches and preserved architecture, Brač is the ideal place to spend a day or two exploring and witnessing its deep history. Stoned walls and buildings guide you along its rustic roads and streets, giving you a different perspective of the coastline.

Region

Makarska, perched between the Biokovo mountain range and the glistening waters of the Adriatic Sea, is a stunning destination where nature's grandeur takes centre stage. The imposing mountains rise dramatically behind the town, creating a striking backdrop for the entire region. With its distinct Mediterranean climate, visitors can expect warm summers and mild winters, making it an ideal year-round destination.

The Riva - the town's seafront promenade - is a focal point of the community, where locals and visitors alike gather to soak up the Mediterranean atmosphere. Lined with palm trees and a variety of cafes, restaurants, and boutiques, the Riva is the perfect place to unwind, take in the scenic views of the sea and settle into the Croatian pace of life. As the sun sets over the Adriatic, Makarska comes alive with a vibrant nightlife scene. The Riva transforms into a lively hub of entertainment, with street performers, live music, DJ sets, and a chance to mingle with locals and fellow travellers.

If you're a history enthusiast, Makarska's rich heritage and historic sites will surely pique your interest. The Church of St. Mark, built in the early 18th century, stands as a testament to the region's strong Catholic tradition. The Baroque architecture and stunning altarpieces make it a notable religious landmark.

For a deeper dive into the past, the Makarska Franciscan Monastery, founded in the 16th century, houses an impressive collection of artefacts including ancient manuscripts and artwork. The monastery's cloister and church are architectural marvels in their own right. Within the complex, the Malacological Museum showcases an extensive collection of seashells, a testament to the region's maritime heritage.

The Makarska Riviera boasts a series of blue-flag beaches and crystal-clear waters, ensuring a perfect setting for relaxation and water activities. The most famous is the Makarska Beach itself, stretching for almost 2 kilometres and offering a plethora of water sports, sunbathing spots, and beachfront cafes. While sunbathing and swimming are the primary draws, you can also indulge in snorkelling, paddle-boarding, and jet skiing to experience the vibrant underwater world of the Adriatic.

Heading north along the Makarska Riviera, you’ll come to the town of Brela, famed for its pristine beaches. One of the best, Punta Rata, is often ranked among the most beautiful beaches in the world. The crystal-clear waters and the iconic Brela Rock jutting from the sea make it a picture-perfect spot for sunbathing and swimming.

The Biokovo Nature Park, often overshadowed by the coast, offers a different but equally wonderful experience. Here, the rugged mountain terrain allows for hiking, trekking, and adventure in the heart of nature. There are several well-marked trails that lead you through lush forests, up to the highest peak of Sveti Jure (St. George), providing breathtaking panoramic views of the Adriatic and the surrounding islands.

Day trips to nearby destinations are also a great way to explore the broader region. The islands of Hvar and Brač are easily accessible by ferry and make for fantastic day excursions. Hvar is known for its beautiful old town and lavender fields, while Brač is famous for the stunning Zlatni Rat beach.

This enchanting coastal region, characterised by its stunning beaches, rugged mountains, and vibrant atmosphere, is undoubtedly a place that leaves a lasting impression. It’s a must-visit for anyone looking to explore the diversity of the Dalmatian region. Whether you're a nature lover, history buff, or simply in search of a relaxing coastal escape, Makarska offers something for every traveller.

There are many coastal adventures to go on with snorkelling, boat rides and much more available within the town. To avoid missing out, try booking in advance for these activities and double-check any age limitations before doing so.

Alternatively, take the younger ones into the mountainous adventure of Biokovo for your adventurers to transform into the explorers they are. Follow trails, learn of the region's history and gaze in awe at the beautiful mountains and glowing coastline. There is a range of trails to take, ranging in abilities, so take care to choose the right path. This will be an unforgettable experience they will dream about for years to come.
