Location
About the surrounding area of Villa MiliVilla Mili is a tranquil holiday home in Ika, settled in the Opatija Hills, within the Opatija Riviera in Croatia. Croatia has captured the imaginations and senses of tourists forever thanks to its beguiling mixture of beauty, history, culture and nature.
With your villa, you’re in close proximity to the centre of Ika, lovely beaches and the seaside promenade which you can access without a car. Nearby Ika Beach is a pebbled beach with lovely calm water, perfect for swimming and snorkelling, or simply taking in the sights and clear air of the Adriatic. The world beneath the water is flourishing with as much life, if not more, as the country itself, making this a perfect destination for water babies.
Ika is evocative of the old world, renowned as an old fishing and shipbuilding village – the way of life here is gentle, fluid, easy. You’ll find no calamity here. Charismatic to the core, you can expect to see boats moored at the harbour and classic Croatian homes. There are numerous restaurants and taverns to escape to if you’re seeking a taste of Croatia (or home – Croatians can be flexible), and there’s also plenty to do for adventurous souls such as fishing, diving, hiking and cycling. Introverts and extroverts alike will find a great deal to do here.
For some extra excitement, you may wish to explore the botanical gardens, exquisite libraries, water sports, casino visits, horse riding or explore the local areas of interest in Ika, and beyond. From your villa you’ll see a great many sights such as Kvarner Bay, the bustling city of Rijeka, the beautiful Opatija Riviera itself, the Istrian Peninsula and the peaceful islands of Krk and Cres – all places you may wish to explore.
In Ika, you’ll also find the university centre which is home to the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management, which gives the area a youthful energy. There’s a Fish Festival which you can attend if you wish to experience the daily endeavours of life on the coast, such as fixing fishing nets, placing fish traps and observing fishing boats as they bring back a very fresh fish supper.
The area surrounding you is full of lush verdant forest – a wonderful place for walking and hiking. Within the Opatija Riviera, you can visit the 14th century Benedictine abbey, Opatija Sv. Jakova, or visit the lovely Maiden with the Seagull statue, which is renowned as a symbol of the area. Angiolina, the town park, is a wonderful place for a walk and houses plants from all over the world.
The city of Rijeka is often used as a gateway to Croatia’s many islands. It’s not quite as perfect as Optaija, but it’s a great springboard for exploring the surrounding Kvarner region as well as Istria.
