Overview

Pool Modern Ideal for Kids Walk to Beach Walk to Village

Located in Krk, Croatia, Villa Valent is a beautifully modern home away from home. Croatia's spellbinding nature, warm waters and dazzling sun make it the perfect haven for those looking for some respite from the busy wider world.

Whether you're looking to spend some time with family members or friends, Villa Valent is a wonderful choice with fantastic sea views, large doses of sun, and verdant green views. As you settle into your new home, you'll feel fully cradled by nature.

Located at the very end of the village of Riska, you've chosen one of the most popular and beautiful Croatian islands to be your home. The island is connected to the mainland by a bridge so you can drive between locations without being dependent on the ferry.

This three-bedroom villa is split across two levels accessible via 15 steps and is ideal for up to six guests. Designed and decorated with style and modernity in mind, the space is naturally lit, allowing you to make the most of the balmy Croatian weather. You can relax in the communal kitchen-dining area, recline on the sofa with a drink whilst watching some television on your large Smart TV or enjoy preparing tasty fare in the kitchen. You can make use of many amenities, including the oven, fridge, freezer, coffee machine and induction hob. Why not try your hand at making a few Croatian dishes such as peka or čevapi?

With full air conditioning and central heating throughout, you can be comfortable regardless of the time of year you visit. Krk is known as Croatia's sunniest island, so if you're seeking heat, you've come to the right place.

The décor is intended to maximise the beautiful colours of the island, so it's muted throughout and adorned with neutral colours giving it a minimalist feel with pops and splashes of something more eye-catching to enliven the space. This gives it a quirky sense of play.

The bedrooms are intended to be spacious and cosy whilst making use of natural light – perfect for those who like to wake up with the day. Each room contains a double bed and wardrobe whilst the master bedroom also has access to a lovely outdoor terrace which serves as a wonderful suntrap. The rooms are supremely comfortable and downplayed in terms of colour to help you ease into a blissful night's rest. The villa also contains three bathrooms, each containing a shower and WC. There's an extra WC on the ground floor too. Outside, you can enjoy your own Eden-esque private garden, complete with a lovely long pool, sun loungers for relaxing, a BBQ and opportunities for open-air dining.

What you should know…

  • There are no ferries connecting Krk to the mainland. You can travel between by car, so it’s important to make sure you rent one in advance especially in the busier months.
  • When out and about exploring the historic and cultural areas of the city, make sure you cover your shoulders, chest and knees. Otherwise, you might not get access to some of these special places and they’re definitely worth it.
  • Remember Krk is one of the more popular Croatian islands. If you’re looking for total seclusion, you could consider another island, but we love the serenity of the villa which you can always retreat to when you want to feel totally at one with Croatia.

Krk has a reputation for being Croatia's sunniest island. It's the golden island's moniker, which tells you all you need to know. But it's not just the beautiful weather that illuminates this island. It's also a vibrant tourist hot spot. Although it's an island, it's connected to the mainland by a bridge, giving it an interesting feel. Yes, you can gallivant on the mainland and then return to the sanctuary of your peaceful island hideaway. It's the best of both worlds.

As you might expect, having chosen to stay on an island, there are many beaches to enjoy. Croatia is not known for its sandy beaches, but Sveti Marak, located ten minutes away in Resika, is a fantastic option if you haven't packed your swim shoes! With a beach bar and grill, you can also enjoy delicious meals as a group. There are many bars and cafes in Malinska and the old town of Krk city, which is a thousand years old and a 20-minute drive away at most.

The charm of the area is its calm. You can find a typical example of this by heading to Brzac, a 30-minute drive away. There are other gorgeous places to explore, such as Baska village, which has been described as having an "end-of-the-world" feeling – perfect for those seeking surreal solitude. In Punat, you'll find the miniature island of Kosljun. Head to Vrbnik to take in the vineyards of the area.

If you're looking for something to get the blood pumping, you can try ziplining over the astonishing natural views or go paddleboarding in the striking azure waters. Head to the Immortelle farm for dazzlingly picturesque views. Oprna Bay makes for a majestic swimming destination, as does Soline Bay. From Vela Luka, you can hike and take in the astonishing views. Check out the geological formation of Biserujka Cave.

Head to the quirky Klancic Narrow Street for some amusing moments. To get up and close with the world beneath the water, the Underwater park in Punat is a fantastic way to spend a day, especially with little ones in tow.

There are many museums to explore, such as the monastery museum in Kosljun. You can also go and see Frankopan Castle and the city walls. Many of Croatia's cities were walled to protect them from invaders. Enjoy the Katunar winery, one of the largest family-owned wineries on the island, and Oliva restaurant is terrific for colourful plates of Croatian food.

Region

Krk, the largest island in the Kvarner Gulf, offers visitors an enchanting blend of natural beauty and vibrant culture. This island paradise, with its captivating landscapes, historic towns, and warm Mediterranean climate, has rightly earned its reputation as one of Croatia's top tourist destinations.

Krk's rugged and diverse geography is a significant part of its appeal. The island boasts a picturesque coastline with countless coves, bays, and pristine beaches to explore. For those looking to relax and unwind, Krk’s beautiful, serene beaches Baska Beach and Malinska Beach are perfect spots to unwind. The calm, crystal-clear waters and warm sun provide an ideal setting for a peaceful day by the sea.

The Adriatic Sea provides the perfect playground for water sports enthusiasts - kayaking, windsurfing and jet-skiing are all popular activities around the island. The crystal-clear waters are also perfect for snorkelling and diving. Many tour operators on the island offer family-friendly excursions where you can explore the underwater world and observe marine life together. Krk also has several marinas, making it a popular stop for sailors and boaters exploring the Adriatic.

Krk’s landscape also includes lush greenery and rolling hills, ideal for hiking and cycling. Numerous bike paths and trails wind through the miles of untouched nature. Whether you're an experienced cyclist or a novice, you can explore the island at your own pace or join one of the many bike tours on offer, enjoying the fresh air and breathtaking scenery. The serene countryside offers splendid vistas, and the scents of Mediterranean herbs like rosemary and lavender fill the air.

The city of Krk, the island's main hub, is a charming blend of history and modernity. The well-preserved ancient city walls and medieval architecture are a testament to its storied past. One of the most iconic landmarks is the Frankopan Castle, a magnificent fortress that dates back to the 12th century. The island also boasts numerous churches and chapels, including the Cathedral of St. Mary, which features Romanesque and Gothic elements, and the small church of St. Donatus, one of the oldest on the island.

Krk's culinary scene is a rooted in the Croatian lifestyle, emphasising locally sourced ingredients and flavours. The island's cuisine is known for its use of olive oil, fresh seafood, and an array of herbs. In the picturesque towns and villages, you'll find cozy family-run restaurants and taverns offering hearty traditional dishes like "šurlice," a homemade pasta, and "pašticada," a slow-cooked beef stew. The island is also renowned for its sheep cheese, such as “šur", and the exceptional local wine "Žlahtina," which pairs perfectly with the island’s fresh seafood. Dining in a konoba, a traditional Croatian tavern, allows you to savour the essence of Krk's cuisine while enjoying the warm hospitality of the locals.

While Krk itself has so much to offer, it also serves as a gateway to explore the wider Kvarner region and the nearby islands. A short ferry ride connects Krk to Cres, Rab, and other smaller islands, each with their own unique charm and attractions. The proximity to the mainland makes it easy to embark on day trips to cities like Rijeka and Opatija, famous for their historic architecture and buzzing cultural scenes.

Krk offers a diverse range of experiences for travellers seeking natural beauty, history, culture, and delicious cuisine. With its rich history, warm hospitality, and breathtaking landscapes, Krk has rightfully earned its place as one of Croatia's top tourist destinations. Whether you're looking for adventure, relaxation, or a cultural experience, this “Golden Island” island has it all.

Your villa is the perfect place to connect as a family. You can enjoy the communal kitchen and dining area, sit on the plush and cosy sofas, watch some TV, play some games on the console and enjoy all the amenities that'll keep your family comfortable and catered for. Outside, you can make use of the private garden, pool and BBQ. Should you choose to spend your holiday relaxing at the villa, you'll be very well looked after. Connected to the Croatian mainland by a bridge, you can head across by car to explore the area's numerous beaches, including the sandy beach of Sveti Marak in Resika.

To experience the old-school charm of the area, head to Brzac or the gorgeous Baska village, which has a very remote, "world's end" charm. To dazzle and delight is the miniature island of Kosljun, and for vineyards, you'll want to go to Vrbnik.

There are a huge array of sports and activities to enjoy if the kids like something livelier, including ziplining, paddleboarding and diving. The translucent warm waters are the ideal place to explore the marvels below. There are many wonderful beaches for swimming – we'd recommend Oprna Bay and Soline Bay. Hiking and cycling are great ways to take in the area's natural beauty. We recommend Vela Luka for its grand views. In terms of natural beauty, Croatia bursts with it. Biserujka Cave is a striking rock formation that can be explored.

Beyond the area's natural beauty, there's plenty of quirky architectural charm, such as Klancic Narrow Street, the narrowest street in the world. Though it may feel less narrow to the children! Spend a day at the Underwater park in Punat – a great way to get up close and personal with marine life. You can spend time at the many museums or churches of the area and there are many fabulous restaurants and taverns with a family-friendly feel. The city walls and Frankopan Castle are well worth visiting.

Whether you want a low-key family holiday spent at the beach or to do some sightseeing further afield, it's all there for you to explore and enjoy.
