Peaceful, private and wonderfully scenic nestled in the Cywarch Valley, Cwm Cywarch Valley Barn is at the foothills of the dramatic Aran Fawddwy mountain which is very popular to climb. The quaint village of Dinas Mawddwy with its craft centre, cafe and pubs is only 3 miles away and a 15 minutes drive or tidy hike will take you to the pretty market towns of Machynlleth and Dolgellau.
Cwm Cywarch Valley Barn is in a fantastic location for outdoor adventures including hiking, mountain biking, mountaineering and climbing but it is also perfect for chilling out, lazing on empty sandy beaches and taking a drive through magnificent landscapes.
Cwm Cywarch Valley Barn welcomes its guests in with high vaulted ceilings, exposed beams and a generous living/dining area. You cannot help but admire this lovingly renovated space that seamlessly blends original features with contemporary furnishings. Gorgeous wooden floors, tasteful accessories and a wall mounted TV, compliment large plush sofas that sit in the warmth of the statement wood burning stove. The delightful fresh farmhouse style table and chairs is perfect for fabulous feasts or cosy dinners.The contemporary open kitchen is stylish and spacious and has an island/breakfast bar. Budding chefs will enjoy cooking up a feast in the kitchen, well-equipped with an oven, hob, microwave, fridge freezer and dishwasher.
You will find two fresh and airy bedrooms on the ground floor. The Master bedroom has a kingsize bed, built in storage, TV and a beautiful modern en suite bathroom with shower. Bedroom 2 is a pretty double bedroom with drawers, TV and hanging rail and lovely countryside views. The separate contemporary family bathroom is a stylish haven with bathtub and overhead shower. Upstairs, Bedroom 3 is a gorgeous King sized bedroom with built in storage and fabulous views. Bedroom 4 is a flexible twin bedroom with a lovely reading nook that the kids will love.
The property is very family friendly with a travel cot, highchair and stairgate if required. There is also a separate utility room with washing machine.
The outside space of Cwm Cywarch Valley Barn is a private paradise surrounded by stunning scenery. The large, peaceful lawned garden has two picnic tables and a built in charcoal BBQ and is a great space for ball games and al fresco dining. There is a safe enclosed play area with swings and slide which should keep the little ones entertained for hours.
Star gazers are going to love the large hot tub seating up to 8 people – relax back in bubbles with some bubbles and immerse yourself in the sheer beauty of this spectacular landscape.

About the surrounding area of Cwm Cywarch Valley BarnCwm Cywarch Valley Barn enjoys a wonderful secluded location with stunning mountain and valley views in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park. This wonderful property sits in the Cwm Cywarch Valley. There are a range with an extensive range of footpaths, signposted walks and cycle trails to suit all abilities and you are close to the route up to Aran Fawddwy, the hightest mountain in southern Snowdonia.
Dinas Mawddwy, your nearest town, has a great craft centre and cafe, a garden centre and two pubs and is home to the annual Red Bull Hardline mountain biking competion.
A 15 minute drive will take you to the picturesque market town of Dolgellau. Enjoying a fabulous array of shops, pubs, cafes, bakeries, wine bars and restaurants, it is a foodie haven with wonderful local produce and delicious cuisine. Dolgellau is home to over two hundred beautiful listed buildings. You will spend a lot of time meandering and appreciating their beauty. The flat mountain bike Mawddach Trail follows the old railway bed to the beautiful Mawddach Estuary and the lovely seaside town of Barmouth. Dolgellau is the nearest town to the renowned Coed y Brenin Mountain Bike Centre. The town is steeped in history with its main bridge over the Afon Wnion dating back to 1638. The remains of historic Cymer Abbey, founded in 1198, can be seen in the nearby village of Llanelltyd within walking distance. The Dolgellau Golf Course enjoys 9-holes and a friendly tearoom.
The coast line is stunning in this region and a half hour drive will take you to the tranquil, pretty town of Tywyn on the Cardigan Bay coast. Sitting on the edge of the Snowdonia Park, it boasts a sensational sandy beach, some excellent independent shops selling gifts and local produce, wonderful restaurants, a gorgeous little cinema and a lovely promenade. The view down the Talyllyn pass towards Llyn Mwyngil is breathtaking and graces hundreds of postcards and Instragram posts. Tywyn boasts the ancient Church of St Cadfan, lots of unique shops selling local crafts and books and the fabulous Magic Lantern Cinema which is charming with murals on the wall and a quirky bar. From Tywyn, you can head over the Dysynni River towards the ruins of the old army camp in Tonfannau or take a short drive along the winding Dysynni Valley to the majestic Craig yr Aderyn and the Castell y Bere Castle. It is a must visit Welsh fortress on a jagged rocky outcrop in the valley, at the foot of Cader Idris. Other sandy beaches include Fairbourne and Barmouth.
A unique experience is to take a ride on the Talyllyn Railway from Tywyn to Abergynolwyn. Operating since 1865, and originally used for carrying slate from the quarries at Bryn Eglwys to Tywyn, it is a narrow gauge preserved railway running for just over seven miles. If you take the train, you will enjoy sensational scenery and nostalgic feelings of time gone by.

Best Suited For: All AgesCwm Cywarch Valley Barn is perfect for a family holiday. It is spacious and superbly comfortable, with plenty of room for fun and games in the huge lawned garden. There is a bonus play area with swing set and slide which should keep the little ones happy! The location is perfect for families that love hiking, biking and discovering gorgeous landscapes as well as spending lazy days on the beach and picking up souvenirs from quaint gift shops. There are plenty of woodland trails close by so burning off energy will not be a problem!
Children love beach days at Barmouth, Tywyn and Aberdovey. These are all fantastic beaches, especially if you have watersports in mind. The Dovey Yacht Club offers small group sessions for paddle boarding with an experienced instructor. The beaches are also great for building sandcastle so don’t forget your buckets and spades.
Children adore King Arthur’s Labyrinth at Machynlleth, a magical underground experience led by costumed characters. There are legends of yore as you travel deep under the mountain to be greeted by a boatman you will sail you on your quest through a waterfall way back to the Dark Ages. As you leave the boat, you will be guided through immense caverns and tunnels where ancient Welsh tales are told and brought to life with dramatic scenes, sound effects and lights. It is a wonderful immersive underground experience with mythical characters, stories brought to life and the thrilling Dragon River.
Surrounded by seven acres of beautiful woodlands, Machynlleth’s Centre for Alternative Technology is an education charity which inspires thousands of families each year to make a positive impact on environmental change. There are hands-on displays, adventure play areas and woodland trails buzzing with wildlife. Children learn about renewable energy, recycling and organic growth through a range of interactive displays and in the woodland quarry trail they can learn all about bees. Between Easter and October you can also ride the great cliff railway.
Further afield, The Penrhyn Slate Quarry, near Bethesda, offers a thrilling day out.
Home to Zip World Velocity 2, you can fly 500m above an enormous bight blue quarry lake on the fastest zip line in the world and the longest in Europe.
You can also enjoy quarry karts if you are fifteen years old or older at the UK’s only mountain kart venue. Children and adults not quite up to Velocity 2 can enjoy a thrilling ride at the Quarry Flyer with 200m of zip line with two lines sitting side by side.
