The Pollensa Museum is just over 5-minutes away from the town centre and welcomes a diverse assortment of historical art pieces dating back to the 16th century. Although this museum showcases a wealth of Gothic altarpieces, it wasn’t officially founded until the mid-1970s. During this time, the Pollensa Museum received praise at many different festivals, including the Summer Exhibition of Painting in the 1960s. Nowadays, guests can observe authentic Buddhist mandalas and pieces from Atilio Boveri. The Pollensa Museum is open every weekday between 10 am and 2 pm and is free to enter.
If you are looking to delve deeper into the intricacies of this region’s culture, the Pollensa Market is an ideal place to visit. This impeccable market sits in the main square of the town centre, making it very easy to visit for guests staying in Puerto Mar. With over 300 stalls to discover, guests can purchase clothes, bags, and craft arts from a variety of native vendors, adding to the authenticity of the market. There is even a section dedicated to fresh produce, allowing guests the chance to indulge in a selection of indulgent fruits and vegetables. The Pollensa Market occurs every Sunday from 8 am till 1:30 pm.
Formentor Lighthouse is located just under an hour away from the centre of Pollensa and gives guests the chance to dive deeper into the local history as well as observe some incredible sights. This lighthouse was first built in 1863 and is used to guide small fishing boats to safety as they emerge towards the Mallorcan shores. The vibrant light helps to illuminate the jagged and rocky landscape at the base of the lighthouse, protecting fishermen and sailors from many potential dangers. In addition, this lighthouse has been the muse of many creative icons, such as Carlos Fuentes and Gerardo Diego. Guests can drive up to the 210m peak and take in the astonishing panoramic views that encircle the lighthouse, giving them an unobscured view of all that Pollensa has to offer.

THE REGION
Pollensa, in the north of the island, is an ancient town of attractive narrow streets and an impressive main square, lined with cafés, restaurants and bars, and is just a few kilometres from Port de Pollensa.
The town has several places of interest to visit, including the Roman bridge, signposted ‘Pont Roma’, which is still in use, and the Puig de Pollensa – a small mountain topped by a monastery just outside the town. Here we provide all the information you want to know to make the most of this relaxed yet culturally satisfying inland town.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesChildren will truly appreciate their time in Pollensa due to the large number of family-friendly activities that can be found in the region. The Joan March Gardens are a considerable landmark that hosts a variety of unique olive trees and horticulture. These gardens were first established in the late 1908s in memory of the eldest son of the March family, who helped to push Pollensa into an economic boom with their responsive business ventures. Guests can explore this area at their own pace and revel in the natural and untouched beauty of the region. The Joan March Gardens are over 5-minutes away from Pollensa and are open 24 hours a day.
If you are travelling with children who love to explore new locations, Alzinaret Caves are an ideal attraction to discover. These caves date back to 1600 BC, showcasing a wide array of prehistoric artefacts for the whole family to discover as they travel through the caves. Despite their links to the Middle Bronze Age, the caves were not officially recorded until 1927 by Wilfred Hemp. In order to honour his discovery, there is a cave known as Number 7 of Hemp, which is seen as a shrine to his work. The Alzinaret Caves can be found just over 10-minutes from Pollensa town centre. It should be noted that there is a section of benches outside of the caves for guests who would prefer to not go inside the caves.
Placa de l’Almonia is a small square that is teeming with alluring European history. This area is home to a house that helped to serve the poor during some of Pollen’s most troubling and turbulent times. The home was owned and run by university students who would often distribute wheat and money to some of the peasants residing in the area. On the 30th of May 1550, Placa de l’Almonia was used as a battleground, hosting a vicious altercation against the citizens and ambushers who had entered the town. Now, there is a ceremony that occurs every August to honour the bravery of these fighters. Placa de l’Almonia is just a short walk away from Pollensa town centre.

Beautiful townhouse in Pollensa
The house is beautifully furnished to a high standard. The furnishings are also very good. The location within the village was also great. Uncomplicated arrival by handing over the keys by means of a key safe.
