Location
About the surrounding area of Finca PoletaPollensa is an expansive and enriching region that offers guests a plethora of inspiring attractions to enjoy. If you are looking to uncover more about the prehistoric legacy of this area, a trip to Alzinaret Caves is an unmissable experience. These looming caves were first discovered in 1927 and are said to date back to 1600BC. As a result, guests are free to observe a wide variety of artefacts dating all the way back to the Middle Bronze Age. These structures were discovered by acclaimed British archaeologist Wilfred Hemp and guests are free to discover a cave named in his honour. As such, this is a fantastic attraction to visit if you wish to learn more about the iconic figures that shaped this small town’s history. Alzinaret Caves can be found just under 10-minutes away from the centre of the region.
Pollensa Museum is a deeply intrinsic tourist attraction and is well-recognised for showcasing the beautiful works of Atilio Boveri. Originally, this establishment was used to store a collection of ornate Gothic altarpieces. These items were very well received by a collection of artistic bodies and were even praised at the prestigious Summer Exhibition of Painting in the 1960s. In 1975, this museum finally opened its doors to the public, making it one of the most iconic art galleries in the entirety of Europe. Pollensa Museum can be found just a stone’s throw away from the centre of the region and is open Monday-Friday from 10 am till 2 pm. An added bonus of this attraction is that it is free to enter for all guests, making it an ideal place to visit if you are trying to save money throughout your trip.
Formentor Lighthouse is one of the most popular landmarks within Pollensa and is situated just under an hour away. This monument was first constructed in 1863 as a way to protect small fishing boats from the sharp and dangerous rocks that sit at the base of the local shores. Over time, this lighthouse also became a key piece of inspiration to many literary creatives, such as Gerardo Diego and Blas de Otero, further exemplifying its rich significance within this area. Guests can drive the short distance toward the peak of the lighthouse and bask in an assortment of beautiful panoramic views.

THE REGION
Pollensa, in the north of the island, is an ancient town of attractive narrow streets and an impressive main square, lined with cafés, restaurants and bars, and is just a few kilometres from Port de Pollensa.
The town has several places of interest to visit, including the Roman bridge, signposted ‘Pont Roma’, which is still in use, and the Puig de Pollensa – a small mountain topped by a monastery just outside the town. Here we provide all the information you want to know to make the most of this relaxed yet culturally satisfying inland town.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesPollensa is also suitable for children due to the multitude of fascinating tourist attractions that can be found throughout the region. Joan March Gardens are a truly splendid landmark and help to express the diverse biodiversity of this area. These incredible gardens were first formed in the late 1980s as a way to celebrate the life and exceptional work of the eldest son of the March family, who were best known for their use of intuitive business ventures, which helped spur Pollensa into an economic boom. Guests are encouraged to explore this landscape in-depth and marvel at a collection of rare olive and cypress trees. Joan March Gardens are based just under 10-minutes away and are open 24 hours a day, making them a very accessible destination to visit.
Puig de Maria is a deeply significant religious landmark that highlights the community-based nature of the local population. At the top of a vast hill sits an archaic 14th-century monastery, which was first viewed as a devoted shrine to the Virgin Mary. Unfortunately, this iconic building was forced to close in 1564 and did not reopen until 1638. As such, guests are free to explore the incredible attraction that we see today, observing a range of beautiful artefacts and fixtures. Puig de Maria is just 10-minutes away from the centre of Pollensa and only takes around 30-minutes to climb, making it a fairly accessible hike for most guests.
Pollensa Market is a bustling hub of culture and vibrancy, making it a perfect place to visit if you are looking to blend in with the locals. This market boasts over 300 stalls, all of which present a stellar array of artisan bags, clothes, and jewellery. In turn, guests are free to pick up a few souvenirs to remind them of their enticing trip. In addition, this market promotes a range of fresh produce, allowing guests to purchase a plethora of unusual ingredients that they can use in their own cooking back at Finca Poleta. Pollens Market is based just a short walk away from the centre of the region and occurs every Sunday from 8 am till 1:30 pm.
