About the surrounding area of Mijas MagnolioCosta del Sol is an extremely vibrant region home to an abundance of exhilarating tourist attractions. This region is also well recognised for its large number of golf courses, such as Los Naranjos Golf Club, which is just under half an hour away from the centre of Costa del Sol. This extensive golf course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and is considered to be one of the finest courses in the profession. Guests are encouraged to explore the complexities of this course and revel in the challenge that it provides. There is also a fine-dining restaurant located on-site, meaning that guests can enjoy a delectable meal after completing a game. Prices for this type of activity are fairly reasonable, costing €89 for an 18-hole game.
If you are looking to uncover the nuances of this energetic culture, a local market is a perfect place to visit. Atarazanas Market can be found just over an hour away and gives guests the opportunity to browse through a collection of fresh produce. This market is well renowned amongst Spanish foodies as there is a wide variety of seafood and olive stalls on show. The exterior of this market may be its finest feature, showcasing an expansive stain glass window at the top of the building. There is even a small seating area outside the market where guests can come to enjoy some authentic tapas and a range of alcoholic drinks.
Jardin Botanico Molino de Inca is one of the finest botanical gardens in Europe, highlighting the sheer beauty of the region. Bipoparc Fuengirola is just under an hour away from the centre of Costa del Sol, and tickets cost €23 for adults and €17 for children aged 3-9.
If you are looking to learn more about this region’s far-reaching history, Alcazaba de Antequera is an ideal place to start. This archaic fortress dates back to the 1000s but experienced a vast expansion back in the 1300s. This monumental attraction was used to protect Muslims who had been extradited from Spain during the Christian re-conquest of the 1200s. Tourists can travel around these walls alongside an audio guide, giving context to this magnificent building. Alcazaba de Antequera is over 90-minutes away, and tours can be purchased for around €6 per guest.
Cueva de Nerja is a collection of stunning caves located just under an hour and 45-minutes away from the centre of Costa del Sol. These fascinating structures were first discovered in 1959, but experts state that there are human remains and artefacts dating all the way back to the Bronze Age. During a guided tour, guests can observe these items as well as the variety of unusual stalagmites and stalactites. There is also a range of prehistoric paintings to see, helping guests to better understand the ancient origins of these caves.
