Casa Cadaques is a four-bedroom, four-bathroom private villa with views of the Cap de Creus Natural Park near the Spanish coastal town of Cadaques.

As soon as you walk through the door of this sleek villa, you'll be surrounded by Mediterranean charm. Pristine white walls and orange-tiled floors sit under high ceilings and wooden beams which span the length of the house. Chic furnishings are dotted around the property, creating a space that's both relaxing and elegant, and visible from the floor-to-ceiling windows of the ground floor is the gorgeous Cap de Creus Natural Park. Those looking for privacy and tranquillity can look no further as vineyards and olive trees surround the house.

The ground boasts three double bedrooms, each with their own bathroom. Each has large windows creating plenty of natural light, and an airy feel to the spaces. Additionally, guests are always taken aback by the luxury of the spa on this floor, which comes with a heated pool, Turkish bath, and shower.

An impressive hallway connects the bedrooms with the living room, which has stunning sea views, a large seating area, and a working fireplace which is perfect for cosying up on cooler Spanish nights. Connected to the living room is the dining area, which seats eight, and you certainly won't have to lose your fantastic views to eat dinner. The dining space is in a large corner of the house and has unrivalled 180-degree views of the surrounding flora and the deep blue ocean.

Making your way upstairs, you'll find the main bedroom with two full baths, a walk-in wardrobe and a study. It also has direct access to one of the two outdoor pools. The pools are undoubtedly the highlight of the gardens, and guests love to spend hours here topping up their tans under the blue Spanish sky with stunning views of the sea.

The coastal town of Cadaques is arguably one of the most charming in the Costa Brava. The edges of the town hug its crystal clear waters, and the mountainous backdrop is nothing short of spectacular. The town is characterised by a rocky coast which is home to some beautiful beaches and quiet coves and is situated on the Cap de Creus peninsula. To the north is the incredible landscape of the Cap de Creus Natural Park. The park is home to many natural wonders of Girona, like seabirds, reptiles, amphibians, lizards and the Mediterranean tortoise.

The historic quarter is situated in Cadaques Bay and marries flavours of the seaside with art history. In the past, the centre has been a source of inspiration for world-renowned artists and painters like Picasso and Klein. It remains deeply rooted in its cultural tradition and boasts several galleries and museums. A must-see is the Salvador Dalí House-Museum which you'll find beside Port Lligat bay, to the north of the town. The town was a huge source of inspiration to him as an adult and a child, and walking the streets of the town, it's easy to see how it fed the artistic capacities of the master of surrealism.

The old town is made up of picturesque narrow cobbled streets and white houses and sits at the head of Cadaques Bay. The Santa Maria church has been carefully restored to a white facade and houses magnificent Baroque-style reredos. Many notable buildings in the town have been designed with a modernist style of architecture, and the beauty of the town seems to invite and inspire artists and creatives decade after decade.

Just over an hour's drive away is Girona. The region's cultural capital is a historical city with medieval walls and narrow winding streets. A highlight is a Jewish quarter which is still intact and is almost exactly as it was 500 years ago. Visitors love to spend the day exploring the cobblestoned lanes, and there's also a guided tour to really soak up the area. If you're a Game of Thrones fan, you'll be in your element. The cathedral featured in season six is perched at the top of a hill and is accessed by a long staircase. Other parts of the city are featured in the show, and it's easy to see why! The winding streets are almost mystical, and there are walking tours for the mega-fans.

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

Kids will love the beaches of Cadaques, which make a great family day out and the pebbly stretch of Ros Beach is one of the most popular. At 80 metres long, it's small, but it's tranquil and relaxed, with crystal clear, shallow waters which are perfect for paddling and playing. It also has great views of the town and the mountains of Puig de Pani and Puig de Bufadors. There's free parking plus a bar and some showers.

An hour and a half drive away is Marineland, a marine zoo and water park that hosts daily dolphin, sea lion, and exotic bird shows. It also has water slides, including the ever-popular Boomerang, a practically vertical drop on a float in a fifteen-meter-half-pipe. The younger kiddies can spend the day in Children's Paradise; the slides, hanging bridges, and attractions have been designed to be entirely safe and heaps of fun, all under the watchful eyes of the ever-present lifeguards. For the very small children, there's also a chillout area with shallow play pools and sun loungers for parents wanting to bask under the Spanish sun. Make sure to plan before you go, as some water parks close during the colder months. If you don't wish to travel so far, another fun water park is Aquabrava, which is located in the nearby port town of Roses.

Also, an hour and a half away by car is Lloret del Mar. This resort city has a reputation for attracting a younger, party crowd, but it was recently awarded a "family-friendly holiday destination" award by the Catalan Tourist Office! One look at its heavenly beaches (several of which have been awarded an EU Blue Flag) and it's not hard to see why. Take your pick from large tourist beaches or idyllic coves that dot the coastline, many of which offer ideal snorkelling conditions.

Owner Profile

How long have you owned the property?
20 years

What was it about the property that you first fell in love with?
The house is big, beautiful, and very well maintained, but what is really unique and makes you fall in love is the place is the tranquillity that is breathed in. Together with the views over the Cap de Creus Natural Park, it makes for a unique place, where you don't need to do anything but sit back and relax

Do you have a favourite room in the property?
Surely the place I enjoy the most is the living room in winter, with its large fireplace to make a fire and see how the sea rises in the wind.

For anyone coming to stay is there anything in the surrounding area they should...

Really do?
Visit Cadaqués and Port Lligat.

Really eat?
There are many restaurants where you can eat seafood and fresh fish, but the most typical are the "Taps de Cadaqués". It is a dessert that looks like a sponge cake shaped like a champagne bottle cap.

Really see?
Casa Dalí in Port Lligat, Cap de Creus lighthouse, Church of Cadaqués

What insider tip would you pass on about the property or the area?
All the beaches in Cadaqués are fine but if you want to be in the best place you always have to look where the wind is coming from.
