Apartment Joanna is perfectly positioned to enjoy the very best of Morzine with a central location in the village which enjoys a lively après-ski scene with plenty of bars and restaurants and has easy access to the entire ski area being located at the foot of the Pleney slopes.

Only 90 minutes drive from Geneva, Morzine is a picture-perfect traditional family resort in the Portes du Soleil ski area with skiing to suit every style from absolute beginners to powder-hungry experts.

The Portes du Soleil, is one of the world's largest ski areas and comprises 12 resorts that straddle France and Switzerland between Mont-Blanc and Lake Geneva. Morzine is at the very heart of 600km of slopes.

Morzine has three main lift stations and Apartment Joanna is very close to the Pleney lift, popular with beginners and low intermediate skiers because of the lovely long blue runs and open reds which return to the village or provide access across to Les Gets, which is popular with families with children. On the other side of the town is Super Morzine gondola which gives access to Avoriaz and the rest of the Portes Du Soleil and offers the highest skiing in the area. The Nyon lift is located at the valley's North end and accesses the Nyon-Chamossiere Sector at 2010m and is ideal for thrill seekers and expert skiers. There are two runs, and there are some challenging off-piste options here.

There is an abundance of winter sports besides the Skiing and snowboarding so maybe it's the time to try snowshoeing, Snowmobiling or husky-dog sledging! Morzine comes alive when the lights go down and there is no shortage of bars vying for your trade. Things kick off at the foot of the slopes as skiers end their day and head to Bar Tremplin, arguably the best après ski bar in Morzine with DJ'S spinning classics from 4pm and a terrace in the sunshine There is a great choice of excellent restaurants in Morzine suitable for every budget, and unmissable are the wonderful mountainside restaurants with terraces where you can enjoy long lazy lunches on sunny winter's days La Folie Douce in Avoriaz is easy to access on skies or on foot and offers excellent après ski time with fine dining and the ultimate disco party creating an unforgettable experience.

Morzine is a year-round resort and just as much fun in the warmer months offering fabulous scenery, stunning landscapes, and many paths to explore on foot alongside dedicated mountain biking trails considered by many as some of the best in the world. Lake fishing is available at nearby lakes Lac Mines d'Or and Lac Montriond, and there are magnificent views to enjoy when golfing at the Morzine-Avoriaz & Les Gets golf courses.

Morzine is a fantastic ski resort with slopes for all levels of skiers and families with children are particularly well catered for as Morzine boasts a Famille Plus status award for its excellence in catering for families with kids.

Apartment Joanna is in a wonderful location at the bottom of the Pleney slopes which gives access to the Les Gets ski area which is perfect for beginners and little ones.

Morzine has a great selection of ski schools specialising in teaching children from the age of 3. Children can be signed up for half or full days with upgrades available, including childcare before or after the lesson and lunch if required. There are also nursery facilities and children’s clubs for fun activities. For a hassle-free vacation, There are childcare agencies where you can book nannies for babysitting or hire baby essentials such as car seats, high chairs, booster seats, changing mats and cots to cut down on the packing! Morzine offers plenty of activities for children that do not ski and for children under the age of 3. Babies and toddlers can get a taste for some downhill action on the small slopes.

Kids love sledging so will adore the dedicated slope at the bottom of the Crusaz chairlift, where kids from the age of 6 can sledge safely during the day. Older kids can also enjoy guided night sledging from the top of the Pleney lift after the slopes are closed to skiers. An adult must accompany children aged 8-11.

Once ski school has finished for the day, there are loads of family activities to enjoy. The outdoor ice skating rink in the town square is a big draw and Morzine has a massive indoor swimming complex next to the Super Morzine gondola. There are separate beginners and kids pools as well as the main pool.

Families will have oodles of fun in the glorious 30-degree waters of Aquariaz, Europe's highest water park (open Monday to Saturday throughout the winter season). Aquariaz has everything, from river rapids and Jacuzzis to flumes and water cannons - just the thing to help defrost frozen fingers and toes.

A wonderful evening adventure for all the family can be had with a visit to Alta Lumina in Les Gets where you can walk through an enchanted woodland enjoying an immersive multisensory experience- magical with a fairy tale feel which should delight kids big and small!

For tired legs and an escape from the snow you can check out the Cinema in town and enjoy the latest releases, or visit the Mechanical Music Museum located opposite the Tourist Bureau, which should charm and delight the little ones with interactive exhibits and a wonderful open air merry go round.
