Overview

Chalet Apartment Modern Self-Catered Ideal for Kids

This splendid apartment is located in a new residence in Le Bettaix, a small quiet village that sits near the banks of the Doron River. Its location is ideal because it is only 150 meters from the chairlift that will take you to the resort of Les Menuires.

The apartment is beautiful and spacious, making it the perfect place to hold your party of ten. The architecture itself is based on traditional Alpine styles, blended beautifully with contemporary decoration, elevating it into something tastefully modern. With a vast outdoor terrace, you can also easily enjoy the grand outdoors and magnificent mountain scenery. The grounds are vast and green in summer, but in winter they turn into a true winter wonderland, peppered with heavy layers of snow. That’s what makes this area so popular with skiers and snowboarders of all stripes.

The living space is vast and inviting, with a mix of muted colours, stylish wood, elegant stone and pops of vibrant Christmassy red to mark the mood of the area. Get snuggled on the sofa, enjoy a meal at the very cosy dining area (we recommend using the fondue maker!), or sit near the fireplace for extra warmth. This apartment very much brings the outside inside – no matter where you are in the apartment, you’ll have a feel for the majestic mountains on your doorstep. The ultra-modern kitchen is awash with red and has everything you need to enjoy your self-catering experience.

With four bedrooms available, including a triple ensuite, two double ensuite bedrooms, and a cabin bedroom with two bunk beds and a trundle bed, there’s plenty of sleeping space for everyone. The bedrooms are decorated simplistically (allowing you to get a great night’s sleep) but memorably. More warming wood spills across vibrant yellow and red to create a gentle space. Sleek bathrooms encourage you to relax and wash away a day of adventures.

You also have your own ski room and garage, ensuring convenience and security.

What you should know…

  • The alpine climate can cause fluctuating weather conditions. Be prepared for cold weather and pack warm clothing, including thermal layers and insulated jackets. Waterproof clothing is also handy, including waterproof footwear. You will heat up when skiing so have some light base layers ready.
  • If you don’t own your own gear, or don’t want to pack it, you can rent pretty much everything you need, including skies, snowboards, boots, helmets and poles from the local ski store.
  • If you’re travelling during peak season take some time to make a reservation if there are particular places you want to visit. The area is very popular.

Welcome to Saint-Martin-de-Belleville, a charming alpine village located in the Savoie region of the French Alps. It forms part of the famous Les Trois Vallées ski area, the largest interconnected ski domain in the world, which includes renowned ski resorts like Courchevel, Méribel, and Val Thorens. What makes Saint-Martin-de-Belleville unique is its authentic and traditional character, making it an idyllic destination for both skiers and non-skiers alike.

The village is divided into two main areas: Saint-Martin-de-Belleville - Centre and Saint-Martin-de-Belleville - Proche Centre.

Saint-Martin-de-Belleville is otherwise known as the centre and is what you’ll come to know as the heart of the village, as well as its historic hub. This is where you’ll want to come for postcard-perfect views, so you can get your fill of adorable wooden chalets, romantic cobblestone streets and a church at the very centre.

The atmosphere is one of eternal Christmas, with a warm and inviting appeal that ensures a true mountain village experience. Have a wander around the local shops and boutiques where you can purchase tasty local fare, ski gear and souvenirs for loved ones back home.

You’ll find a diverse astronomical scene which caters to all palettes. Whether you seek a traditional mountain restaurant serving Savoyard specialities such as gooey indulgent fondue or refined gastronomic establishments.

The area is renowned for its legendary après-ski sessions as well as its assortment of bars and lounges where you can enjoy a lively and friendly drink following your adventures on the slopes.

Saint-Martin-de-Belleville - Proche Centre, offers a more peaceful and residential feel. The atmosphere is quieter and calmer here, making it ideal for families. You’re still close to the action but far enough away to enjoy some serenity. You can easily access the ski slopes by foot or ski lift, making it a perfect spot for avid skiers and snowboarders.

One of the highlights of staying in Saint-Martin-de-Belleville is the direct access to the ski slopes. From both the centre and the nearby areas, you can easily reach the lifts and be on your way to explore the vast Les Trois Vallées ski area, which offers an extensive network of slopes suitable for all levels of skiers and snowboarders.

You’ll find stunning mountain vistas, rich cultural heritage, and the opportunity to enjoy world-class skiing in a truly authentic French village setting. Enjoy your adventure.

The Resort

Picturesque St Martin de Belleville is the gateway to the Trois Vallées ski system, and what you might call the quiet little brother of the famous ski family. Not much goes on at this resort except for high-quality snow sports, and that’s just the way we like it. St Martin remains an old Savoyard village with a majestic church tower at its centre and more locals than tourists. Its charm lies in small-scale excellence and a well-kept sense that you are not staying at a ski resort but in an old alpine community. Life here is slow-paced, relaxed and quintessentially French.

This family resort is excellent for beginner and intermediate skiers and snowboarders. Across the 78 slopes, the best runs are long, rolling, and just the right degree of challenging. In the winters you are pretty much guaranteed good snow coverage due to the close proximity to Val Thorens, but because of the relatively low altitude of St Martin village, you might want to rethink a late-season even though pistes stay open until April. Sailing down the slopes of St Martin de Belleville you’ll get familiar with some seriously attractive views and gorgeous wooded landscapes. Overall there are 1448 metres of downhill skiing available and on top of that you can, of course, gain access to the rest of the Three Valleys system.

Fair warning, St Martin is not the place to go for parties. If its après-ski you’re after, then you’re better off staying in neighbouring Méribel. There are a few bars around town, but no real nightclubs. Instead, spend the evening at one of the many top-notch restaurants as the village is known for its gourmet cuisine (including the triple Michelin starred La Bouitte). Although it is a small town, there is a lot of variety when it comes to food. But before heading to your restaurant, make sure to catch one of the après-ski concerts held in the town church.

Saint-Martin-de-Belleville is home to a vast array of family-friendly activities and makes a wonderful base for families looking to enjoy this winter wonderland.

The area is famed as a skiing and snowboarding hub (one of the world’s best), and you’ll find that all levels, including beginners and children, can find a slope that suits their needs. True beginners may wish to head to a ski school first so that they can get familiar with the equipment and techniques for being safe and having fun on the snow.

Besides skiing, kids can have a blast playing in the snow, building snowmen, and having snowball fights. There are also designated sledging areas where families can enjoy thrilling sled rides together.

The village often has an ice rink set up during the winter months, providing a fantastic opportunity for families to glide on the ice and enjoy some classic winter fun. There are also a vast array of winter walks to enjoy allowing you to soak up the serene atmosphere or explore well-marked hiking trails.

You may choose to experience the magic of dog sledding, which allows you to take a guided ride through this magical landscape, led by a pack of huskies. This one truly is a family favourite. For something more relaxing, spend some time swimming or at the spa or visit a local farm to meet the animals that live there and learn more about their role in Alpine life.

Depending on the time of year you’re visiting, you’ll find a range of events, markets and celebrations, so do check these out before you travel and make any reservations if needed.

Make sure you try something new as a family, especially the food, which is in the Savoyard style. There’s so much to try, including cheese-based dishes like the famous fondue and raclette. There are many family-friendly dining spots and menus to suit all palettes.

Whatever you decide to do, your experience here will forge memories that’ll last a lifetime.
