Overview
Ideally located in the quiet Morel area of Méribel at 1600m altitude, Chalet Macoun is a cosy, characterful retreat for up to seven guests. With four inviting bedrooms and a warm, open-plan living space, it’s ideal for families or small groups looking for comfort and convenience in the heart of the Three Valleys.
The Morel neighbourhood offers its own restaurants and shops, with the town centre just a 10-minute walk away. The Morel chairlift, a short stroll from the chalet, provides direct access to the Altiport ski area, with a gentle blue run bringing you home at day’s end. Alternatively, hop on the free local bus to La Chaudanne to connect with Méribel’s wider ski network.
Part of the world-renowned Three Valleys, Méribel boasts 150km of local pistes and more than 600km across the entire Three Valleys ski area, linking seamlessly to Courchevel and Val Thorens. The resort retains its Alpine charm, surrounded by forest and dotted with traditional wooden chalets. It’s as appealing off the slopes as on, with a vibrant après-ski scene, Olympic sports centre, and family-friendly activities including tobogganing, ice skating, and swimming.
Back at Chalet Macoun, the main living area is a highlight – a roaring open fire, sumptuous sofas and mountain views set the scene for relaxed evenings in. The adjoining kitchen and dining space is stylish yet homely, with thoughtful Alpine details and access to a balcony overlooking snow-covered peaks.
The bedrooms are spread across two floors: a charming ground-floor twin room and a further three upstairs bedrooms – a snug single, a twin with balcony access, and a double with its own ensuite and private balcony. There’s also a sleek family bathroom on the upper level and a separate bathroom downstairs.
Additional perks include a ski and boot room, parking, welcome basket, firewood, and mid-stay clean – everything you need for an unforgettable stay in the heart of the Alps.

The Resort
Méribel is a village with a true alpine heart. You won’t find blocks of hotels and purpose-built facilities here. Instead, the compact and lively town centre is picture-postcard perfect, and its atmosphere is quaint and fairytale-like. It is without a doubt the most romantic resort in the area and if you’re planning a couples holiday in the snow you’ll definitely want to take a closer look at Méribel.
At the centre of the world famous Trois Vallées (Three Valleys), Méribel makes up part of the largest ski domain in the world. Across the valleys, it has six sister resorts. You can either get a single-resort lift pass and keep to the fantastic beginner and intermediate terrain there, but you also have the option of purchasing a pass that covers the whole area.
The advanced lift system at Méribel will let you maximise your time on the snow and make sure you’re not waiting around in queues. With 67 runs to try out just in the resort itself, there is no time to be wasted. Just beware of the afternoon sun cutting things short on the west-facing slopes and prepare to get up with the sun if you’re after untouched powder. At it’s highest skiing point Méribel reaches an altitude of 2952 metres and the descent from this point is known to be one of the most scenic runs around.
Aside from the world-class skiing, Méribel is also known to be one of the liveliest resorts in the Three Valleys. Many of its residents and bar-owners (as well as plenty of its visitors) are expat-Brits who certainly know how to party. The après-ski scene here is truly top-notch!

Best Suited For: All AgesChalet Macoun is a warm, welcoming base for families, with four cosy bedrooms and a sociable open-plan living space. Beautifully styled and perfectly located in Méribel’s Morel area, it offers easy access to lifts, local amenities and family-friendly ski zones.
Méribel is a superb choice for a family ski holiday. The resort offers discounted family ski passes and a wide range of child-friendly facilities. La Chaudanne is the hub for ski schools and lift access, and its Parc Olympique complex includes a swimming pool, climbing wall, spa, bowling alley and more.
The Altiport area is perfect for beginners, with gentle forest runs like Moon Wild and playful themed zones such as the Inuit Village and Le P’tit Moon, designed for ages six to twelve. More confident skiers can tackle the Moon Park’s jumps and obstacles.
Off the slopes, little ones can enjoy tobogganing (including night sledging in Mottaret), igloo building, cheese fondue nights and creative fun at the Kenothèque family centre. There are also child-friendly picnic areas and activities during school holidays, including torchlit descents with the ESF ski school.
