Families or friends looking for a wonderful chocolate-box chalet in the charming resort of La Tania do not need to look further than Chalet Hawtorn. This fantastic, characterful chalet was constructed with reclaimed timbers taken from an old Russian farmhouse. The craftsmanship is just magical and will have you admiring it all week long! The chalet just makes you want to smile. You will immediately be looking forward to cosy nights in front of the log burner!

The chalet has the added benefits of a hot tub on the deck and good skiers being able to ski off-piste to the front door through the forest. What a way to end the day! Even beginners only need to walk two hundred metres to the piste and the lift. The chalet enjoys a brilliant location which is only a five-minute walk from the centre of the village. The chalet offers four beautiful bedroom suites and enjoys upside-down living with three of the bedrooms on the ground floor and the living spaces and one bedroom upstairs. Sitting in a winter wonderland, Chalet Hawtorn is nestled within the forest of La Tania, moments from the piste and surrounded by snow and glorious panoramic views. It is a fabulous choice for large families or a group of friends. The chalet is semi-detached with our Chalet Elm which sleeps ten guests and there is a connecting door that can be opened so that large groups can enjoy a ski holiday together.

La Tania is a picture postcard ski village which sits between Courchevel and Meribel with excellent access to the whole of the Three Valleys ski area. It is a small, welcoming village with a good range of bars, restaurants, shops, ski schools and kindergartens but at the same time its size makes it utterly charming and you are never far from the slopes or the village amenities. The resort was built for the 1992 Winter Olympics, enjoying a traffic-free centre which is especially popular with families.  A fast gondola lift takes you to the Three Valleys ski area where you can enjoy 600kms of piste, one hundred and eighty three blue and green runs, one hundred and nineteen red runs, thirty three black runs and the most amazing snow-capped scenery.

As well as downhill skiing and snowboarding, La Tania offers some other wonderful, fun activities including sledging, night skiing, hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and paragliding. Out of the ski season, visitors enjoy mountain biking, trekking, tennis, clay pigeon shooting, swimming and paragliding. Courchevel and Meribel Centre are only a ten minute drive away, both brilliant for nightlife and other entertainment.

As well as Chalet Elm next door, there are two other chalets along the same road as Chalet Hawtorn that Oliver’s Travels also feature. If you are a very large group, you might like to take a peak at Chalet Akbash and Chalet Cedar or even Chalet Ash which is also close by but not on the same road.


You will discover three of your four bedrooms on the ground floor of Chalet Hawtorn, all twins with their own smart shower room. They are gorgeous nests, all in wood and with crisp cottons and cosy duvets on the beds plus a colour splash from the scatter cushions. You will find dressing gowns on the beds too to save you having to take them. Also on the ground floor is a handy boot room with heated boot driers so that you are comfortable as you head out for the slopes.

The remaining twin bedroom is on the first floor, another wooden clad wonder with an en-suite bathroom. When you walk into the open plan living space you will be truly delighted by the warm ambience and gorgeous finish. Under an immensely characterful wooden beamed ceiling at all different angles, you can relax on beautiful carved sofas and chairs watching a movie streamed using the Wi-Fi and enjoying the flames and warmth of the log burning stove. It is a perfect spot for pre-dinner drinks or family games. At the far end, you will dine in style on hearty breakfasts, afternoon teas and delicious evening meals. Doors open to a balcony and stunning snow capped trees and slopes.

Chalet Hawtorn also boasts a hot tub on the deck, a wonderful treat when you return from the slopes.

  • Each of the four bedrooms at Chalet Hawtorn enjoys its own en-suite bathroom. The bedrooms are gorgeous havens where you will get the best night sleep after an active day on the mountain.
  • If you would like to discuss the catering options in full, please feel free to speak to our Concierge Team. Please decide on your options in good time so that your chalet can be pre-stocked with lots of delicious goodies.
  • If you are interested in the attached Chalet Elm or the nearby Chalets Cedar, Akbash or Ash for other friends or family please let us know.
  • Good skiers can ski back to the chalet through the forest off piste. Otherwise there are three runs of all standards that take you back down to the village which is only 200m from the chalet.

The picturesque village of La Tania is a small, family friendly ski resort at an altitude of 1400m. La Tania is just ten minutes’ drive from Courcheval and Meribel and with excellent access to the whole of the Three Valleys’ impressive ski area. The resort is the newest, enjoying a good selection of shops, bars, restaurants, ski hire shops and ski facilities. Its traffic-free centre is so pretty and the chalets and apartments are surrounded by spruce forests. The village lies at the foot of blue and green runs and good skiers can even ski through the forest off piste to return to the chalet later in the day.

There is a good range of winter and summer entertainment in La Tania in addition to skiing and snowboarding including snowshoeing, sledging, night skiing, cross country skiing through the trees, paragliding and much more. The entertainment of Courcheal and Meribel is easily accessible too. If you fancy dancing the night away or partying until the early hours in a lively apres-ski bar, all is possible. There are good facilities for children too with a nursery centre for young ones aged four months to five years and a Piou Piou skiing kindergarten for three to five year olds. There is a good range of restaurants in La Tania from inexpensive pizzas and snacks up to the Michelin starred gastronomic restaurant, Le Farcon. You can enjoy plenty of typical Savoyard cuisine as well as child friendly meals. You will find some bars offering happy hours and delicious cocktails as well as some live sports and music venues.

La Tania is sandwiched the famous resorts of Courchevel and Meribel in an area that offers skiers the ultimate choice of skiing. The highest lift in the Three Valleys is at 3200m and there are over 2000 snow cannons guaranteeing superb snow during the season. The main twelve person gondola out of La Tania links to two high speed chairs from where you can choose to drop towards Courchevel via Chenus or over the Col de la Loze towards Meribel. There is skiing for every standard. La Tania itself has 38 snow cannons and four ski hire shops. The ski schools operating in La Tania are ESF, Supreme Ski and Snowboard School, Magic in Motion, New Generation, Ultimate Snowsports, Cab9, Momentum Ski and Ski Class so there is lots of choice. La Tania has a free beginners drag lift which is helpful for those first moments.

Chalet Hawtorn sleeps eight guests so it would be ideal for a large family, two smaller ones or a multi-generational family . If you are a larger group, you could also book the adjoining Chalet Elm and open the connecting door! The chalet is very well designed with a large entertainment space, ideal for family board games, chilling and watching a movie or large evening meals. The hot tub is very popular with children as well as adults!

La Tania is excellent for families with a kindergarten and creche and a good number of excellent ski schools. There is a free drag lift for beginners and a good range of slopes. As well as skiing, children can enjoy sledging, the usual snow ball fights, night skiing during the school holidays, bumboarding, soft play and much more. Bumboarding is very popular with children. You just need to get hold of the board which is basically a colourful tray with a handle and take it to the foot of La Tania’s slopes where they will have so much fun. There is also a climbing frame there for fun. There is a brilliant 1.7km toboggan run between 1850 and 1550. With a ski pass you can take the bubble lifts back to the top until 8pm finding the floodlit track. You can hire a toboggan from a local ski shop and it is so much fun! The centre of La Tania is pedestrian only which is very popular with families. There are a good range of restaurants serving child-friendly meals. 

Courcheval and Meribel are only ten minutes away in the car with some excellent activities for children. If your children are too little to ski all day, there is a free soft play centre under the Croisette building in Courchevel 1850. Also at 1850 and outside the Croisette, there are horses and ponies with their carriages waiting to take families on a ride around the resort. There is a merry-go-round and lots of stalls offering delicious treats. In the Forum at 1850 there is an ice rink and bowling alley. During February, the Three Valleys hosts an International Pyrotechnic Competition with the most amazing fireworks. You might have to take a bus to get to it but it is incredible. In Meribel, La Chaudanne enjoys an outstanding complex, Parc Olympique which offers a swimming pool, gym, ice rink, spa, climbing wall, bowling alley and night club as well as an excellent medical centre. The Altiport area of Meribel is a lovely way to introduce children to the slopes. Its Moon Wild route is very gentle and very pretty through the forest. Children also love the themed areas and snowparks. The Inuit village in the Altiport area enjoys banked turns, a mini slalom course and themed games. The moon park boasts ten hectares of obstacles to practice on and take jumps for those that are looking for more of a thrilling ski. Le P’tit Moon is a designated area for young skiers aged between six and twelve years old. If they are tired after morning ski lessons, there are some delightful picnic areas at the start of the Saulire Express and below the Pas du Lac gondola in Mottaret.

End of stay cleaning included? Yes, and mid stay cleaning with towel change. However, guests are required to leave the accommodation clean, tidy and in the same condition as on their arrival. Any extra cleaning, laundry, maintenance and/or rubbish disposal required will be charged against the security deposit.
