With 600 kms of slopes in the 3 Vallées of France, Meribel is a well-known ski resort. Home to a slew of rolling pistes, it's one of the most wonderful ski areas in the world. Make most of the tree-lined pistes of Mont Vallon, the Saulire, the Tougnete and the Plattieres. High-powered, ultra-modern ski lifts allow easy transportation back and forth.

The village of Meribel is located at an easy distance from Meribel Centre. A cocoon of tranquillity, it's at an altitude of 1400 meters. Go on leisurely walks and explore quaint wooden and stone chalets. Visit its beautiful chapel and feel like you have stepped into the pages of history.

The village square is a township in itself, with free car parking, supermarkets, cake shops, eateries and a sports store. Dig into delicious Savoyard cuisine and French gourmet. Listen to live music après ski at Lodge du Village.

The residence is also close to marvellous boutiques, gastronomical adventures and sensational nightclubs. Winter sports junkies are spoilt for choice with a range of activities, including snowshoeing, dog sledging and heliskiing.

There are plenty of things to do even if you come across bad weather. The Olympic Park by La Chaudanne has a 25-metre swimming pool, fitness centre, spa and climbing walls. Explore La Chaudanne and stop by its host of shops, vibrant restaurants and cosy pubs. There are options for every kind of pocket. Grab lunch on the terrace of La Cantine d'Alvar, against an awe-inspiring backdrop of Mont Vallon. Relish decadent Indian food at Tsaretta Spice and gooey fondues at La Fromagerie.

Hike along 25 kms of fragrant trails around the valley. Forage through colourful villages, frozen lakes and scenic peaks. Post 3 pm every day, you can catch ravishing cabaret acts, live performances and dancers in extravagant costumes at La Folie Douce Méribel-Courchevel.

The Resort

Méribel is a village with a true alpine heart. You won’t find blocks of hotels and purpose-built facilities here. Instead, the compact and lively town centre is picture-postcard perfect, and its atmosphere is quaint and fairytale-like. It is without a doubt the most romantic resort in the area and if you’re planning a couples holiday in the snow you’ll definitely want to take a closer look at Méribel.

At the centre of the world famous Trois Vallées (Three Valleys), Méribel makes up part of the largest ski domain in the world. Across the valleys, it has six sister resorts. You can either get a single-resort lift pass and keep to the fantastic beginner and intermediate terrain there, but you also have the option of purchasing a pass that covers the whole area.

The advanced lift system at Méribel will let you maximise your time on the snow and make sure you’re not waiting around in queues. With 67 runs to try out just in the resort itself, there is no time to be wasted. Just beware of the afternoon sun cutting things short on the west-facing slopes and prepare to get up with the sun if you’re after untouched powder. At it’s highest skiing point Méribel reaches an altitude of 2952 metres and the descent from this point is known to be one of the most scenic runs around.

Aside from the world-class skiing, Méribel is also known to be one of the liveliest resorts in the Three Valleys. Many of its residents and bar-owners (as well as plenty of its visitors) are expat-Brits who certainly know how to party. The après-ski scene here is truly top-notch!

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

Kids can spend their time playing games. They can build snowmen and play-fight with snowballs. Keep them engaged with a variety of activities such as hiking, horse riding and cycling.

If they want a breather afterwards, they can watch cartoons on the TV. Head to the pool for some afternoon fun or turn the bedroom into a venue for a slumber party.

The apartment is also at a striking distance from nursery slopes, ice-skating rinks and other kid-friendly winter activities. Enquire about ski schools in the neighbourhood from the staff for a fun-filled time.

Meribel offers attractions that are specially curated for kids. Head to Olympic Park and have a blast on the ice skating rink. The little ones can show off their motor skills in the bowling alley, which has a few lanes specifically meant for children over three.

Visit Cinéma du Mottaret, a cosy one-screen experience that shows children’s films every evening.  A 45-min drive will take you to Courchevel Altiport, where you can experience an unforgettable hot air balloon ride over snow-covered hills.

After all of this adventure, the little ones would have surely worked up an appetite. At Rond Point restaurant, they can devour the best ice cream sundaes in town. For something savoury, dig into a bowl of fondue at La Fromagerie.
