Self-Catered Ski-In/Ski-Out Ideal for Kids Walk to Village Parking Space

Escape the Moriond crowds when you vacation in Apartment Quiche, nestled in the quiet residential area of Belvedere on the Courchevel slopes of the French Alps.

Apartment Quiche can be found in a chalet-style low-level property just over a kilometre from the centre of Moriond, famous for its hours of sunshine and laid-back vibe. This stylish three-bedroom apartment can comfortably accommodate up to six guests and is ideal for a fabulous family holiday or a group of friends going away together. The best thing about Apartment Quiche, apart from the stunning panoramic views of the snow-covered Alps, is that it is next to a ski slope and ski lift, which will whisk you to the world’s largest interconnection of pistes of every colour.

Take off your skis and keep them safe until their next outing in the secure locker. Then take the elevator to Apartment Quiche, where you will be welcomed by a light and bright, homely, open-plan living space. Picture postcard scenic view windows open out onto a fretwork wooden balcony with a vista of snow-covered slopes. The seating area has a comfy dove grey L-shaped sofa, a coffee table and bookcases, and a cabinet that is home to a flat-screen television for your evening entertainment. A galley-style pine kitchen is fully equipped with all the appliances you will need to cater for your holiday, including that must-have morning coffee maker. Take your place at the six-seater dining set, perfectly positioned under a twinkling chandelier, and enjoy a piping hot fondue of local cheeses.

Sleep well in one of the three simply-appointed double bedrooms. The master bedroom has a double bed, handcrafted fitted wardrobes, and an ensuite bathroom with a bathtub and hand basin. The other two bedrooms have convertible twin beds, side tables, and wardrobes. There is a shared modern tiled bathroom with a bathtub for a long soak after a day on the slopes, a hand basin, and a holiday wash washing machine. A separate loo completes the accommodation.

Apartment Quiche is nestled in the quiet residential suburb of beautiful Belvedere, a 1.4-kilometre drive to the centre of Moriond. The town of Moriond sits 1650m above sea level on the slopes of the exclusive ski resort of Courchevel. Moriond is the middle village of the three Trois Vallees resorts and is noted for having the most sunshine and the best-relaxed vibe.

You’ve got a few choices as to how to reach your holiday home. Within a three-hour radius, there are four international airports, Geneva and Lyon, and in peak season, there’s the option of Chambery and Grenoble too. From there, hop in a taxi, hire a car, or jump on a regular shuttle bus that will whisk you to your destination. If you are feeling flush, charter a helicopter and arrive in style.

The closest ski lift is Ariondaz, and the closest slope is Belvedere, both almost on the doorstep of the apartment. The ski school for younger guests and beginners is in town, a five-minute drive into Moriond. The ski resort of Moriond is particularly attractive to families, as it is renowned for its starter blue pistes and gentle green runs.

The town of Moriond has shops and supermarkets stocked with provisions for your stay, including a Spar selling British fodder. Walk through the town to the tourist office for information and assistance. There are lots of bars and restaurants where you can enjoy some seriously good French cuisine. As dusk falls, Moriond comes alive with a vibrant après ski nightlife; there are lots of live music venues where you can party, party, and party until the small hours in late-night bars.

For those who don’t ski, or if you want a day of sliding down the slopes, enjoy a walk by the lake and river with a selection of water sports in season, or see the mountains on a bike. Take a gondola to the other towns, most especially, don’t miss going up to the jet-set Courchevel 1850, where you will find luxury brand designer shops, Michelin-starred restaurants, an ice-skating rink, and a cinema showing films in English and French. Go from one extreme to another, relax in a luxurious spa and enjoy a treatment, or be a daredevil and paraglide down the mountain. Take a seat at a café and sip a hot chocolate as you watch the beautiful people glide by. And for the romantically inclined, there’s nothing lovelier than a sleigh ride through the mountains in a horse-drawn carriage.

The Resort

Courchevel is made up of six satellite villages, each with their own distinct style and atmosphere, and picturesque forest roads to lead you in-between. Most well known is the illustrious Courchevel 1850 with its reputation for exclusivity and an A-List clientele. 1850 is certainly the place to go for five-star hotels, swanky bars and extravagant nightlife. The other Courchevel villages (such as Courchevel Moriond) have a much more laid back vibe and are certainly the more affordable choice.

The skiing in Courchevel is split into four levels and you can take an excellent free ski bus in between. At the resort itself you have 150 kilometres of pistes at your feet and while you can get a Courchevel lift-pass you can also ski the whole of the Three Valleys with an area-pass. Since the slopes here face north, the snow at Courchevel is more reliable than elsewhere in the Three Valleys. Courchevel pistes are absolutely unrivaled, meticulously maintained and perfectly positioned to align with the landscape.

With its highest lift at 2740m altitude, Courchevel is exceptionally good for high altitude skiing with incredible alpine views, and the most impressive runs are best suited for intermediate and advanced skiers. But for the little ones just finding their snow legs, the resort has a fantastic children’s village where they can learn in a stress-free environment. Ski season here lasts until late April and even if you prefer not to ski at all, you’ll be well entertained with everything from scenic walks to classical music concerts.

In the evenings, the Courchevel night skies are lit up by spectacular firework displays that could get anyone in the mood for a night on the town. The bars here are a good mix of casual and upmarket, so there’s plenty for all tastes to enjoy when it comes to après-ski. Courchevel also has a well-earned reputation for being the best ski resort when it comes to gastronomy.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

Kids of all ages will love a vacation in the French Alps, especially in the family-friendly town of Moriond, betwixt and between the Village 1550 and Courchevel 1850.

The best thing about Apartment Quiche is that the nearest ski lift and slope is on the doorstep, at 0m from the block. You will have to drive 1.4km into town to the nearest ski school for your young ones and beginners. The school is the perfect place for them to start to learn to ski and to make friends of a similar age who can buddy with them on the slopes.

Families love skiing in Moriond as it is populated with child-friendly blue slopes and easy gentle green runs. One of the blue pistes has been christened Indiens and specially themed for children to enjoy with Grey Wolf’s tribe Indian camp, complete with Teepees, archery, and face painting; it sounds like super fun.

Keep them active with a three-kilometre toboggan course, which also does night sessions. Similarly, Verdons by night has floodlit blue runs. Swim and splash the day away at the Aquamotion Aquatics Centre in the Village. Enjoy the day at the Family Park for freestyle skiing and snowboarding. Go dog sledging and see the mountains from the cosy comfort of a sledge. Make your way to Western Park at the top of Ariondaz Grande with a magic carpet slope for beginners. For your adrenalin-seeking daredevils, there is paragliding and sky diving down the mountain for a bird’s eye view of Courchevel.

In the evening, take a gondola to Courchevel 1850 and have some family fun at the bowling alley, ice skating rink, or cinema before sharing a piping hot fondue of local cheese.
