Positioned in the centre of Courchevel Moriond, Apartment Potier enjoys a fantastic perspective across the valley whilst being less than 50m from the nearest lift, ensuring guests can be swiftly transported up the mountain to explore the resort’s enviable piste map.

Made up of five distinct villages, Courchevel covers nearly 150km of skiable terrain, and a diverse selection of slopes offers something to suit every ability. Originally conceived by a couple of French soldiers, the first lift was built in 1946, and the resort has soared in popularity, now attracting some of the world’s most exclusive hotels. With an altitude of 2740m, La Saulire is the highest point, and seasoned skiers can find several steep corridors and challenging technical runs to try out. Combe Saulire is a great signature run that is best visited early in the day, or head to the Grand Couloir, where you can speed down one of the steepest pistes in the Alps. The area is also great for beginners, with plenty of ski schools offering both group and private tuition, whilst dedicated ‘ZEN’ zones and gentle nursery slopes are ideal for improving your confidence before heading further up the mountain.

Restaurants and bars dot the mountainside, perfect for admiring the scenery and enjoying a well-earned break. Le Bel Air serves up a selection of classic French dishes, such as snails or côtes d’agneau, or head to La Cave des Creux for a leisurely lunch in the sun. Run by local brothers, the popular restaurant has a laid-back vibe and offers an authentic brasserie menu celebrating ingredients sourced from suppliers nearby. A lively nightlife can be found at 1850, and Les Verdons is a fun spot to enjoy live music and dancing or drop back down to Moriond, where Le Petit Savoyard is the ultimate place to go to share a traditional alpine fondue.

For non-skiers, a pedestrian lift pass will give you access to the mountain, making it easy to meet up with friends for a slope-side drink or head away from the pistes and navigate the hiking trails to explore the region’s scenic landscape. For those looking for a higher perspective, various operators offer paragliding flights throughout the year or opt for a more leisurely experience and take a ride on a sledge pulled along by a pack of charming huskies.

During the summer months, the mountains come alive with wild grasses and vibrant flowers, and the Vanoise National Park boasts a vast network of routes that attract hikers and nature enthusiasts alike. Dramatic downhill slopes are ideal for mountain bikers or have a go at Via Ferrata, a form of climbing invented by Italian soldiers.

The Resort

Courchevel is made up of six satellite villages, each with their own distinct style and atmosphere, and picturesque forest roads to lead you in-between. Most well known is the illustrious Courchevel 1850 with its reputation for exclusivity and an A-List clientele. 1850 is certainly the place to go for five-star hotels, swanky bars and extravagant nightlife. The other Courchevel villages (such as Courchevel Moriond) have a much more laid back vibe and are certainly the more affordable choice.

The skiing in Courchevel is split into four levels and you can take an excellent free ski bus in between. At the resort itself you have 150 kilometres of pistes at your feet and while you can get a Courchevel lift-pass you can also ski the whole of the Three Valleys with an area-pass. Since the slopes here face north, the snow at Courchevel is more reliable than elsewhere in the Three Valleys. Courchevel pistes are absolutely unrivaled, meticulously maintained and perfectly positioned to align with the landscape.

With its highest lift at 2740m altitude, Courchevel is exceptionally good for high altitude skiing with incredible alpine views, and the most impressive runs are best suited for intermediate and advanced skiers. But for the little ones just finding their snow legs, the resort has a fantastic children’s village where they can learn in a stress-free environment. Ski season here lasts until late April and even if you prefer not to ski at all, you’ll be well entertained with everything from scenic walks to classical music concerts.

In the evenings, the Courchevel night skies are lit up by spectacular firework displays that could get anyone in the mood for a night on the town. The bars here are a good mix of casual and upmarket, so there’s plenty for all tastes to enjoy when it comes to après-ski. Courchevel also has a well-earned reputation for being the best ski resort when it comes to gastronomy.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

With its central position and inviting atmosphere, Apartment Potier is a fun place to enjoy a break with all the family. Kids will feel at home right away, and the main living room is perfect for sharing entertaining evenings around the dinner table or curling up to watch a movie.

With a variety of slopes and plenty of ski schools, Courchevel has something for every ability. Drop the kids off for lessons in the morning, where they can have fun in the snow and make new friends whilst learning to navigate the slopes, and you can always meet up for lunch and spend the afternoon skiing as a family. Sitting above 1850, the family park has a fun array of jumps and obstacles to suit all levels, whilst the Western-themed ski park at the top of the Ariondaz gondola features easy, ‘magic carpet’ slopes that are perfect for little ones.

There are toboggan runs across the valley that offer fun for all, or head up to the Moriond luge track to experience a heart-stopping experience speeding down the course. Alternatively, take a more leisurely ride, being towed along by a pack of huskies, or head to the local skating rink to spend a fun evening on the ice.
