Location
About the surrounding area of Apartment PetuniaSet within the centre of Courchevel Village, Apartment Petunia is just a short walk from the nearby restaurants and local hire shops, whilst less than 50m away, the Gragnettes Gondola will transport you up the mountain to the central lifts.
Part of the Trois Vallées, Courchevel offers the ultimate resort, with an impressive piste map full of opportunities with something for all abilities. Beginners can enjoy the nursery areas as well as dedicated ‘ZEN’ zones, and multiple ski schools are offering both group and private tuition, perfect for those looking to develop their confidence. For more seasoned skiers, Combe Saulire is a classic red run which is best visited early in the day, whilst several challenging blacks can be found across the valley. At the summit, the Grand Couloir is one of the steepest pistes in the Alps, or why not hire a guide to unlock the valley’s full potential and spend the day navigating the more rugged off-piste terrain.
An efficient lift network invites you to discover the region’s diverse landscape whilst many of the slopes congregate in the lively hub of La Croisette where the heart of aprés can be found. Plenty of bars and restaurants offer a fun place to stop for a drink, where you can meet up with friends and sit out on one of the sunny terraces. Whilst known for its exclusive fine dining scene, Courchevel has plenty of reasonably priced restaurants serving up hearty dishes of classic French cuisine. La Cave des Creux is a popular lunch spot, with a spectacular view of the Mont Blanc and a delicious brasserie-style menu, whilst at the top of the Tania gondola, Le Bouc Blanc has a more rustic feel. Alternatively, head to Le Caterail, where you can enjoy live bands and DJs late into the night.
For non-skiers, the pedestrian lift pass is a great way to meet up for slope-side dining with family and friends, whilst a circus of hiking trails invite you to explore the valley at a different pace. Take a gentle route out to Lac de la Rosiere, or grab a pair of ‘raquettes’ and head off beneath the trees to explore the mountain’s wilder side. For those after a thrill, you can book a paragliding flight all year round and fly above the forests to enjoy a unique perspective, or head up to the luge track at Moriond to speed down the impressive luge track. Alternatively, opt to be guided through the pines by a pack of huskies for a more gentle sledge ride.

The Resort
Courchevel is made up of six satellite villages, each with their own distinct style and atmosphere, and picturesque forest roads to lead you in-between. Most well known is the illustrious Courchevel 1850 with its reputation for exclusivity and an A-List clientele. 1850 is certainly the place to go for five-star hotels, swanky bars and extravagant nightlife. The other Courchevel villages (such as Courchevel Moriond) have a much more laid back vibe and are certainly the more affordable choice.
The skiing in Courchevel is split into four levels and you can take an excellent free ski bus in between. At the resort itself you have 150 kilometres of pistes at your feet and while you can get a Courchevel lift-pass you can also ski the whole of the Three Valleys with an area-pass. Since the slopes here face north, the snow at Courchevel is more reliable than elsewhere in the Three Valleys. Courchevel pistes are absolutely unrivaled, meticulously maintained and perfectly positioned to align with the landscape.
With its highest lift at 2740m altitude, Courchevel is exceptionally good for high altitude skiing with incredible alpine views, and the most impressive runs are best suited for intermediate and advanced skiers. But for the little ones just finding their snow legs, the resort has a fantastic children’s village where they can learn in a stress-free environment. Ski season here lasts until late April and even if you prefer not to ski at all, you’ll be well entertained with everything from scenic walks to classical music concerts.
In the evenings, the Courchevel night skies are lit up by spectacular firework displays that could get anyone in the mood for a night on the town. The bars here are a good mix of casual and upmarket, so there’s plenty for all tastes to enjoy when it comes to après-ski. Courchevel also has a well-earned reputation for being the best ski resort when it comes to gastronomy.
Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesWith its spacious layout and cosy aesthetic, Apartment Petunia is a great place to stay with all the family. Each room enjoys its own ensuite, meaning no queue for the bathroom, and the lower floor bunk beds are ideal for kids. Afternoon a long day on the mountain, spend relaxed evenings in, making home-cooked dinners to share around the table before curling up on the sofa to watch a classic family movie.
Courchevel has something for everyone, with various pistes suited to all abilities. Drop the kids at ski school, where they can learn to navigate the snow safely or spend a gentle family day on one of the less challenging runs. Found at the top of the Ariondaz gondola, kids will love the Wild West Park, where its gentle Indian-themed runs and impressive tee-pees have plenty to keep them entertained. Various toboggan runs can be found across the mountain, or head up to Moriond to experience a thrilling ride down the impressive 3km luge track.
Spend the afternoon away from the slopes and enjoy an indulgent hot chocolate in one of the local cafes, or hop on the free shuttle and head along to the Aquamotion centre, where you have a choice of both an outdoor and indoor pool. Kids can play in the wave machine or race down the water slides, whilst the Aquawellness Centre allows parents to escape and enjoy a few moments of relaxation in the sauna or snow-lined hot tub.
