Centrally positioned in the heart of 1850, Apartment Dufour enjoys a prime location, sitting on one of Courchevel’s most envied streets. Local shops and restaurants are just a few minutes walk away, whilst the lifts are less than 20m away where you can be transported to the slopes within minutes, perfect for those looking to ski from dawn till dusk.

Conceived by a couple of French soldiers, Courchevel’s first lift was completed in 1946 and has since become one of the world’s most popular resorts. Covering nearly 150 km of local ski area, a vast selection of slopes offers something for all abilities. Those with more experience should head up to La Saulire, where the Grand Couloir boasts one of the steepest runs in the Alps, or hire a guide and head off-piste and discover the valley’s full potential. Plenty of blues and greens provide a more gentle run, whilst Combe Saulire is a classic signature red best visited early in the morning. Nursery areas and dedicated beginner’s zones can be found at La Tania, whilst a number of local schools provide lessons for those looking to build up confidence.

For non-skiers, a pedestrian lift pass gives you access to the mountain, perfect for meeting up with friends for lunch beside the slopes, and there are plenty of fantastic restaurants to choose from. Le Bel Air is a great place to enjoy French classics, whilst Le Panoramic boasts a breathtaking view. 1850 has a lively nightlife, with a handful of bars offering live music and DJs, or spend a more relaxed evening at La Saulire, a traditional and friendly restaurant just moments from the apartment.

The resort has numerous activities to be enjoyed off the piste, and you can drop down the valley to visit some of Courchevel’s other villages. Wander through the snow-lined streets dotted with luxury shops and boutiques, and stop for a hot chocolate in one of the local cafés to soak up the magical alpine setting. For those looking for a heart-stopping experience, Moriond boasts an impressive 3km luge track, and you can hop on a sledge and plummet downhill, zig-zagging around the corners and speeding through underground tunnels. Various operators offer paragliding flights year-round or spend a more relaxing afternoon indulging in an exclusive treatment in one of the nearby hotel spas.

The Resort

Courchevel is made up of six satellite villages, each with their own distinct style and atmosphere, and picturesque forest roads to lead you in-between. Most well known is the illustrious Courchevel 1850 with its reputation for exclusivity and an A-List clientele. 1850 is certainly the place to go for five-star hotels, swanky bars and extravagant nightlife. The other Courchevel villages (such as Courchevel Moriond) have a much more laid back vibe and are certainly the more affordable choice.

The skiing in Courchevel is split into four levels and you can take an excellent free ski bus in between. At the resort itself you have 150 kilometres of pistes at your feet and while you can get a Courchevel lift-pass you can also ski the whole of the Three Valleys with an area-pass. Since the slopes here face north, the snow at Courchevel is more reliable than elsewhere in the Three Valleys. Courchevel pistes are absolutely unrivaled, meticulously maintained and perfectly positioned to align with the landscape.

With its highest lift at 2740m altitude, Courchevel is exceptionally good for high altitude skiing with incredible alpine views, and the most impressive runs are best suited for intermediate and advanced skiers. But for the little ones just finding their snow legs, the resort has a fantastic children’s village where they can learn in a stress-free environment. Ski season here lasts until late April and even if you prefer not to ski at all, you’ll be well entertained with everything from scenic walks to classical music concerts.

In the evenings, the Courchevel night skies are lit up by spectacular firework displays that could get anyone in the mood for a night on the town. The bars here are a good mix of casual and upmarket, so there’s plenty for all tastes to enjoy when it comes to après-ski. Courchevel also has a well-earned reputation for being the best ski resort when it comes to gastronomy.

With its spacious layout and inviting atmosphere, Apartment Dufour is a great place to spend a break with all the family, and everyone will immediately feel at home. The variety of bedroom combinations is perfect for kids of all ages, and the central living room has ample room to spread out. Return from the day on the mountain to enjoy entertaining dinners or retire to the sofa for a competitive family board game.

Centrally located, the amenities and lifts are just a moment's walk away, and 1850 is perfectly placed to explore the resort’s vast piste map. Drop the kids off at the local ski school, where they can learn to navigate the snow safely whilst making friends, and you can always meet up again for lunch before spending the afternoon skiing together.

Grab a sledge and race down one of the local toboggan runs, or opt for a more leisurely ride and be guided through the scented pines by a pack of charming huskies. Alternatively, down in 1550, Aquamotion is the ideal place to spend a white-out day, and there are a number of water slides and wave pools that will keep the kids entertained for hours.
