Location
About the surrounding area of Quinta de PeraThis lovely villa is located near the small town of Porches, situated between Lagos and Albufeira. A tranquil setting away from the main tourist areas, this quaint town is the perfect spot for some rest and recuperation, enjoying the Algarve sunshine and some quality time with your loved ones. Porches is known for its beautiful pottery, and a visit to Casa Grade or Porches Pottery is far more than just going into a shop; an experience within itself, you can spend hours exploring the shelves of beautifully designed goods.
Praia dos Bejinhos beach is just a short drive from the villa’s front door. Translating to mean ‘little kisses beach’. With jagged cliffs dropping down to the sandy shores and turquoise water rippling onto the beach it is the perfect spot to spend the day. There are other breathtaking beaches sprinkled along the coastline, including golden beaches and dramatic natural scenery such as Praia de Cova Redonda and the vast beach that runs all the way from Praia de Armacao to Praia de Gale through Praia dos Salgodas.
Porches is situated between Albufeira and Portimao, with several lovely villages in between. The picturesque and traditional town of Carvoeiro offers a very peaceful and welcoming ambience, perfect for an afternoon of wonder. Salgados has a huge lagoon, an important stopover for many migrating birds and protected species, so take your binoculars! Peaceful and quiet, there is a long boardwalk where you can stroll with several bars where you can stop for a refreshment. There is an annual International Sand Art Festival held at Salgados which takes sandcastle-building to a new level; 40,000 tons of sand are shaped into intricate sculptures, some of which stand a massive twelve feet tall!
If you are travelling to this area for the award-winning wine, then close by is ‘Dos Santos’, a wonderful brewery and vineyard where you can try some famous port and wine. If you are interested in a bit of shopping, there is a huge centre in the nearby town of Guia. Guia is also home to the famous Piri-Piri chicken which you really should try, taking your Nando’s favourite to a new level! For a lively evening out, Albufeira is the best spot, with al-fresco restaurants and a strip of bars and night clubs where you can dance the evening away!

THE REGION
Carvoeiro has always been known for its beautiful coastline, adorned with cliffs, coves and incredible sandy beaches stretching all the way along to Albufeira. These days, however, there is a lot more going on in this charming town than just waves hitting the sand (although that’s certainly still a highlight).
In the past few years Carvoeiro has developed to accommodate for the growing number of tourists who are curious to see what the fuzz is all about, and the town continues to get livelier and livelier each summer. While it has kept its character and remains exquisitely peaceful, there are also plenty of modern amenities and loads of exciting activities in the area. The only thing Carvoeiro won’t provide is a good party, but there are other parts of the Algarve which are perfect for that.
ABOUT THE ALGARVE
Though most people tend to see the Algarve as all about the beaches and a holiday on the Med, there’s far much more to it than that.
But while you’re enjoying one of our fantastic villas in Algarve, you may well want to take some time out from all that sun worship to explore everything else the region has to offer – so we’ve put together this handy travel guide to give you a little help and inspiration!
