Overview
With plenty of traditional Moroccan charm, gorgeous views, a beautiful swimming pool, elegant living and sleeping spaces and a huge four thousand square metre walled garden brimming with fragrant jasmine, vibrant bougainvillaea and prickly cacti, Villa Laraiche is a laid-back property ideal for a holiday with friends or family. It boasts four bedrooms, all with private living spaces, delightful communal living spaces and a wonderful team who will look after you and the property brilliantly.
The villa is surrounded by a very generous garden full of jasmine, olive trees, eucalyptus, argan trees, bougainvillaea and cacti. It is a haven of nature and calm where you will enjoy total privacy as you relax in the Moroccan sunshine. The villa is built around three patios which are connected. From the patios, you will discover three lounges, a kitchen and four suites which all enjoy their own bedroom, living room and bathroom. The rooms are minimalist in design, with gorgeous textiles, traditional plaster finishes and comfortable furnishings. The villa enjoys its own water and electric supply with a high-performance solar power system. Eight adults can comfortably sleep in the villa, with up to four children on extra beds.
Within the villa, you will discover a dining room, a main living room and a quiet living or reading room. There are beautiful fireplaces that are pure heaven if rural chill sets in and for a crackling atmosphere. There are lovely beams, comfy sofas and delightful seating arrangements that are built-in and covered with colourful cushions. These are sociable spaces where you can get together, but you will always find somewhere peaceful and calm to enjoy a quiet read or for contemplation.
The four suites enjoy bedrooms with comfy beds dressed with quality linens and delightful soft furnishings, living spaces with fireplaces where you can sleep additional children on single beds and traditional bathrooms, mostly with showers but one with a bathtub where you can soak your stresses away. There are two baby cots available too.
Villa Laraiche’s large pool is surrounded by loungers and parasols where you can relax with your holiday books. Near the pool, you will find a shaded alfresco lounge and dining areas and a barbecue. The gardens are beautiful and fragrant.

Location
About the surrounding area of Villa LaraicheVilla Laraiche enjoys a wonderful, tranquil location close to the sea and Essaouira. The very popular resort of Essaouira boasts stunning beaches, thrilling watersports, delicious fresh seafood and a buzzing Medina. The town is very much a working port and fishing town as well as a beautiful tourist hub. It is known for its coastal wind, beautifully named the Alizee, giving the town the name of the ‘Wind City of Africa’.
Compared to the frenzied Medina of Marrakech, you will enjoy a relaxed shopping experience in the Medina of Essaouira. There are five main gates and a laid-back, car-free pedestrian area sprinkled with souks that you can explore at your own pace. You will discover palm-lined avenues lined with art galleries and boutiques. You will enjoy the gorgeous white and blue facades and the striking ramparts. Dating from the late 18th century and added to the UNESCO World Heritage list in 2001, it is a lovely place to stroll. It was famously used in the opening scene of Orson Wells’ 1951 film Othello and Game of Thrones. The Medina is surrounded by dramatic, wave-lashed ramparts which offer spectacular sunset views. The Slala de la Ville 18th-century ramparts protect the Medina and its row of nineteen bronze cannons from the crashing waves and seafaring marauders.
Essaouira’s busy port is filled with colourful fishing boats. There is a large fish auction in the market hall by the port gates every Saturday, plus you can watch the daily catch being sold every afternoon to the restaurants around the harbour. You will see the sea-blue wooden boats arriving and departing and nets being repaired.
The beaches are great fun for windsurfing and kite surfing though the water is pretty cold. The beach runs for approximately six miles and is popular for walking, football and other sports. Swimming is best in the town stretch as Safi Beach to the north has a strong current. Camel owners are founds on the sands to the south. You can head south across the Ksob River to see the ruins of the Borj El Berod, an old fortress and pavilion at low tide. From here, you can walk inland to the village of Diabat or continue to the sand dunes of Cap Sim.
The Gnaoua World Music Festival is held in June for three days. It is Essaouira’s biggest annual event. The Gnaoua people are descendants of slaves that originated from Black Africa and established brotherhoods throughout Morocco. They are made up of master musicians, metal castanet players, clairvoyants, mediums and their followers. The festival showcases their talents with music and mysticism.

Kids
Best Suited For: All AgesFamilies very much enjoy staying at Villa Laraiche. It enjoys four spacious bedroom suites with bedrooms, living spaces with an extra single bed and bathrooms. You are welcome to use the single living room beds for extra children, so in total, the villa can sleep eight adults and four children. There are several living spaces, so there is plenty of space for little ones to relax with a movie or game while adults enjoy planning their Moroccan adventures and a delicious meal.
Essaouira is great for adventurous families. Children adore the freedom of running in the Medina without any traffic, camel riding over the sand dunes, enjoying the waves, surfing and quad biking. Teenagers can try their hand at kite surfing. You can head to Safi Beach at the northern end of Essaouira or Diabat Beach south of the town. Children enjoy taking a horse and carriage to get to Safi Beach from outside Bab Doukkala, and the driver will wait while you explore the beach. There are large sand dunes and excellent rock pools to play in.
Children enjoy bartering in the souks, where the stall sellers are much less pushy than in Marrakech. Game of Thrones fans enjoy looking out for locations from the films. They love walking along the fortified walls and enjoying the views. Children are fascinated with the fishermen and the fish market. They will see sardines, pilchards, hake, sole, crab, lobster, octopus, eels and other fish. They can pick their choice of fish and have it cooked at one of the open restaurants at the port.
