The village of Ghazoua is small, peaceful and charming. It sits on the edge of an argan tree forest within very easy reach of Essaouira, which is only 8km away. Essaouira’s name means ‘little picture’ in Arabic, and this town is a painter’s dream location with its striking blue and white Medina, its spice-scented lanes, its fairytale ramparts built on the cliffs, its imposing stone gates, its colourful port, its fabulous fish market, its wide sandy beach that stretches for miles and its rolling waves sprinkled with kitesurfers having the time of their lives. The Atlantic Ocean’s deserted beaches enjoy a wind that tempers the Moroccan sunshine and whips up those thrilling waves. Essaouira is known as the ‘Bride of the Atlantic’. You can enjoy a traditional Moroccan steam bath with a scrub down with traditional black soap, pick the fish of your choice for dinner, barter in the Medina, enjoy the views from the ramparts, and if you happen to be in Essaouira in June, enjoy the famous Gnaoua World Music Festival. Close to the pool is the very attractive hammam where you can enjoy an indulgent steam bath. You will find lots of lovely little spots where you can settle down with a good book or a glass of your favourite tipple, including the roof terrace.
