Within 12km of Kotor and Tivat, this high-quality villa sits on the southern shore of the Bay of Kotor. With four bedrooms, a private beach, and two yacht berths, the magnificent Velika on the Bay is ready to welcome you to one of Montenegro's most desirable locations.

Situated in Krasici, this villa can accommodate up to eight guests. Set in beautiful gardens filled with Mediterranean plants and flowers, the villa offers a large outdoor terrace with a dining area, summer kitchen and barbecue, beside the idyllic private beach.

Inside, the ground floor living room connects to a large terrace and features a fireplace, seating and dining area. A well-equipped kitchen is equipped with appliances from brands such as Bosch and Smeg, while the furnishings throughout the house bear the names of Italian designers such as Valentino and Fendi. Also, there is a separated living room with wine showcase and a sea-view bedroom with a king-size bed and en suite bathroom on this floor.

A separate apartment features another king bedroom with an ensuite, which opens onto a terrace. The apartment has its kitchen facilities. On the first floor of the villa are two more bedrooms with king-size beds, mini-kitchens, private terraces and dressing rooms. Their two en suite bathrooms impress with whirlpool bathtubs and walk-in showers. All bedrooms are also equipped with Smart TVs.

This luxurious villa offers extensive security, underfloor heating, air conditioning and WiFi throughout. There is also private parking for four cars.

Nearby Tivat is considered one of Montenegro's most glamorous towns – once a small, unassuming place, it now has an air of Monaco with its yacht-filled marina, high-end dining and designer stores. It's the Old Town of Kotor which draws the crowds to the area, however – sights such as St Tryphon's Cathedral and a host of laidback restaurant terraces add to its considerable charm, while beautiful areas of nature like Lovcen National Park and Lipa Cave provide no end of excursions.

The Bay of Kotor is a northern Montenegro highlight, and the town of Tivat is one of its most glamorous spots. Home to a 450-berth, full-service marina, it's a place to enjoy life to the full and offers upmarket shopping, dining and nightlife, and many special events. The calendar is packed with fashion shows, luxury brand launches, concerts and wine tastings.

Kotor's stunning Old Town also sits on the bay, enjoying a rugged mountain backdrop. Ideal for water sports on the River Skurda, this popular destination is scenic and historic. Climbing the walls of the Old Town will reward you with spectacular views. Alternatively, take a boat trip – you can visit the Blue Cave, a notable local attraction where snorkelling is the thing to do.

Look out for St Tryphon's Cathedral and plenty of churches in the Old Town. The town is known for its much-loved street cats, and by visiting the town's Cat Museum, you'll be able to contribute to their care. Kotor is especially bustling when cruise ships arrive in port, ensuring the café and restaurant terraces are in demand. Local seafood such as squid and octopus will likely be on the menu.

Montenegro's beautiful coast provides yet more options for excursions. Its best-known destination, Budva, has its own charming Old Town to explore, along with the upscale Dukley Marina area. The family-friendly Aquapark is a great place to head with kids, and as the biggest water park in the Balkans has no end of thrilling rides and slides. If you're looking for beaches, there are numerous great ones all along the coast. Highlights include laidback Petrovac, ideal for water sports, and the 12km Velika Plaza in Ulcinj, the longest beach in Europe.

The idyllic Sveti Stefan, south of Budva, is Montenegro's most photographed destination. The private island is closed to all but the resort's guests, which occupies it, but you can still enjoy the view from the beaches across the causeway.

Incredible areas of natural beauty, notably the National Parks of Lovcen, Durmitor and Lake Skadar, are well worth exploring, with Lovcen located not far from Kotor. Unmissable sights include the Tara Canyon, the biggest in Europe and second only to the Grand Canyon.

About the Region & Getting There

About the Bay of Kotor

The Bay of Kotor, or Boka, has been a World Heritage Site since 1979, so be assured of its captivating scenery that includes; a Venetian old town, a Fortress, Roman Mosaics, churches and a glistening cove that all culminate to provide guests with an exceptional holiday destination.

Sailing through the fjord you will notice the Orjen Mountains along the west, and the Lovćen Mountain range curling around the east, which outline this spellbinding landscape. As you enter through the bay you are greeted by a man-made islet that is home to Our Lady of the Rocks Church and a museum. This is the first of many reminders that you are about to reach a region of Montenegro that is famed for its natural scenery and poignant architecture.

The Bay of Kotor is made up of four cornerstones - Lastva, Morinj, Stoliv and the most renowned Tivat. Within these villages you are able to find iconic landmarks such as St Petka Church and St Mary’s Church, or for something a little less pious; simply enjoy Tivat Marina and Gornji Stoliv’s Olive grove & Fig orchard.

Travel inland and strap on a pair of hiking boots as you explore Lovcen National Park. Although it is about an hours drive from the Bay, it really is worth the day trip! Whether you’re travelling with a Botanists, Ecologist, Entomologist or Zoologist; they will be pleased to know that there’s an immeasurable number of species that include birds, insects, bears, wolves and some breath-taking flora & fauna.

We urge holidaymakers to make the most of Kodor! This charming town has everything you need to forget the day-to-day tribulations of home life. Not only does this small medieval refuge have a host of cafes & restaurants, but there are some must see attractions like the Maritime Museum, the Cats Museum of Kotor, Cats of Kotor Shop and St. John’s Hill. The perfect retreat for a family in need of sun, sea & sentiment.

Another summer highlight is the Kotor Arts Festival, incorporating Boka Night. This celebration includes food, music, dancing and lots of fun, culminating in a spectacular fireworks display.

You can all enjoy wonderful views over the Bay of Kotor if you walk the city walls. These extend up into the mountains so it’s a bit of a hike, but definitely worth the effort. Take some water and snacks to keep you going along the way.

Reviews

  • I would definitely come back.

    on 19/09/2022

Velika on the Bay is a great place to relax away from the more populated areas of Kotor, Tivat, Budva, etc... the swimming is fantastic. All the amenities are there and functional. Large patio umbrellas are great for a day by the water. Underwater lights for night swimming also great. Beds are comfy. Two large bays for cars was a huge plus. Though the area isn't as developed as the big tourist spots, it's a short drive to all of them. I would definitely come back.

  • It is absolutely amazing place!

    on 04/08/2022

Perfect for family or group vacation with quite adult people, because you have your own see deep enough to dive from the pier and for small children it might be dangerous. So we were 6 persons from 19 to 51 y.o. and for us it was one of the best experience of renting for vacation. You can cook for your group by yourselves or you can use several restaurants near the place. By car the road to Tivat usually took 35 min, same to Kotor. So if you travel by car it is the best option to combine different activities. The depth is enough for 52-feet boat to pick up us from the villa for amazing excursions in Kotor gulf and around several small islands in the open see. All facilities in villa are new and we hadn’t any inconvenience during our stay.
