Overview
Diplomat Apartment enjoys a central setting in one of the finest cities of the world with views of Piazza di Spagna and the iconic Spanish Steps from its two pretty balconies. Rome is a city of elegant piazzas, art filled churches, archaeological treasures and a history of over 2,800 years.
This luxury air-conditioned fourth floor apartment is beautifully furnished and makes the most of its spectacular views from the two French balconies in the spacious living area and master bedroom. There are two sumptuous Italian marble bathrooms, a fully equipped kitchenette and a separate dining area for when you feel like ordering in a private dinner. You are sure to feel pampered by the walk-in wardrobe, luxurious bathrobes and slippers, minibar, inclusive buffet breakfast and concierge service.
As soon as you step out of your building you are surrounded by the charm of Piazza di Spagna which has been a gathering place for artists, musicians, families and travellers for over two centuries. Look out for the English Babington Tea Rooms and Keats Museum near the Spanish Steps, Europe’s widest staircase. It is only a short walk to the designer shops of Via Condotti or you may prefer the artistic atmosphere in characterful Via Margutta. For peace and relaxation away from shops and ancient monuments, stroll to the restful Villa Borghese Gardens.
Throw a coin into the Trevi fountain before visiting the Pantheon, then visualise centuries of important gatherings at the Roman Forum and the fearsome gladiators of the mighty Colosseum, one of the “New Seven Wonders of the World”. Admire the views from Palatine Hill and, of course, head to Vatican City. There are plenty of other delightful areas to explore such as ancient Trastevere with its cafes, bars and nightlife.
For a quick and exciting way to see Rome, try out an electric bike tour or an atmospheric night time Segway excursion. Enjoy a day away from the glorious city - there are longer trips to Pompeii, Mount Vesuvius, the Amalfi coast and Positano or, more locally, wine tasting tours in the countryside around Rome and walks along the Appian Way. Whatever you decide to do, you are sure to want to return to your wonderful apartment in the centre of this beautiful city.

Location
About the surrounding area of Diplomat ApartmentIn the beautiful city of Rome, Diplomat Apartment enjoys a central setting with views of Piazza di Spagna and the Spanish Steps from its two pretty balconies.
Part of a collection of apartments, Diplomat can be found on the fourth floor of an annexe building whilst the communal buffet breakfast and concierge service is in another building just around the corner. As soon as you step out of the annexe building you are surrounded by the charm of Piazza di Spagna and just a few strides away are the famous Spanish Steps which lead up to the beautiful Trinità dei Monti.
The steps provided a great cinematic backdrop for Audrey Hepburn and her ice-cream in the 1953 film “Roman Holiday”. Look out for the house where the romantic poet Keats lived and died, which is now a museum. At the foot of the steps are the famous English Babington Tearoom and Bernini’s “Fountain of the Leaky Boat”, a monument to when the Tiber flooded in 1598.
For high-end designer shops, visit nearby Via Condotti, the centre of Italian fashion and design since Bulgari opened its store here in 1905. For a different atmosphere, stroll along Via Margutta, a charming short and narrow street with ivy clad homes and little art galleries.
Head to the Trevi Fountain (800m) and throw a coin backwards over your shoulder for good luck, trying not to hit another tourist. From here it is only a short walk to the Pantheon, a landmark Roman church with historic tombs.
Visit The Roman Forum before marvelling at the Colosseum (2.3km), a huge amphitheatre once famous for its gladiatorial battles. Don’t forget to admire the views from Palatine Hill, the most famous of Rome’s seven hills and believed to be where Romulus and Remus were found.
Vatican City is a treasure trove of wonderful art and architecture. The Vatican Museum houses Roman sculptures and the wonderful Sistine Chapel is famous for Michelangelo’s ceiling. Climb to the top of the Basilica dome in St Peter’s Square for more great views.
Take a natural break in Villa Borghese Gardens with its walking trails, fountains and lakes. Refreshed, you might want to pop into the Gallery of National Modern Art inside the park.
Take a night time Segway tour or an electric bike ride around the city. There are bike and walking tours along the Appian Way (15km) while, much further afield, day trips are available to Pompeii, Mount Vesuvius, Positano and the Amalfi coast. There are closer beaches and a nature reserve near Fiumicino and food and wine tasting tours in the Roman and Umbrian countryside.

Best Suited For: All AgesRome is a welcoming city for families and there are plenty of ways to keep the kids interested and happy as you visit the famous sites. Be sure to buy a scoop or two of ice cream at The Spanish Steps and throw a coin in the Trevi Fountain.
At the Borghese Gardens (800m), you can hire a rowing boat on the lake or there are playgrounds, a zoo with a little train and weekend pony rides to enjoy.
Young historians can see where the wild animals lived in the tunnels and chambers beneath the arena floor at the Colosseum. The small Egyptian Museum in the Vatican has interesting examples of Egyptian art and hieroglyphics.
Furthermore, there is a traditional open air puppet theatre featuring Pulcinella in the park on Colle del Gianicolo near Piazzale Garibaldi, just outside the centre of Rome.
Further afield there is the Hydromania Water Park with a lagoon pool and slide, beaches near Fiumicino and the Decima-Malafede nature reserve in Lazio where you might see wild boars.
