Overview

Pool Villa/House Quirky Ideal for Kids Pets Welcome Parking Space

If you are looking for a place to stay in the beautiful region of Puglia, where could be better than an authentic Trullo home which has sat in this landscape for centuries? Sleeping up to ten guests, the house is the ideal setting for a special holiday where family or friends can make memories together in this lovely home and expansive gardens.

Villa Sangalli is a set of Trulli buildings which would have been used as seasonal agricultural dwellings in times gone by. These pretty, white-washed structures are only found here in Puglia and you will see the cone-shaped roofs dotted around the rolling hills. The villa is comprised of four of these stone buildings which have been carefully renovated to create this delightful home.

Three of the Trulli are fully-equipped and sumptuously decorated independent homes; the main Trullo has a professional-style steel kitchen, while the other two have handcrafted wooden kitchens, all having everything you would need for preparing meals for your group. The larger homes also have dining rooms and sitting areas as well as warm and welcoming bedrooms.

There is also another building which contains a double bedroom with a chic en-suite bathroom. In total there are three double bedrooms, a single bedroom and a  bedroom with a double bed and a single bed, meaning there is plenty of space for everyone to get a good night’s sleep. The layout of the independent, yet adjoining Trulli is ideal for travelling together yet also offers privacy to guests.

As the weather is often wonderful, you are sure to want to spend lots of time outdoors in the lush gardens. The home is wrapped by flower beds, trees and vast lawns which lead out to three hectares of private land where you can walk amongst olive groves and shrubland. The garden also boasts a large, infinity pool where you can enjoy a refreshing afternoon dip before tucking into dinner under the covered dining space as night falls.

Though the house sits in a rural setting in the Val d'Itria, you do not need to travel very far to reach the closest towns and villages. There is a restaurant and a grocery store within walking distance of the home, with a wider selection of amenities available in the village of Cisternino which is just 6km away.

There are many more towns and villages you can visit nearby such as Martina Franca; a character-filled town packed with Baroque buildings, shops and eateries. Martina Franca is 8km away by car. Locorotondo is also close by at just 13.5km away, Locorotondo is one of Puglia’s famous Trulli towns where you can walk around streets filled with little Trullo’s, a guided tour is a great way to see the town as well as the other Trulli town of Alberobello which is 21km away.

After spending a few days exploring historic sites and doing some shopping in nearby hilltop towns, you can also head out on day trips to the beaches dotted along Puglia’s coastline. There are a range of beaches around 25km away and whether you prefer a quiet swimming cove or a lively beach with water sports on offer, you will easily discover a beach you love.

Villa Sangalli enjoys a perfect location in the Val d'Itria, with the stunning city of Ostuni in one direction and the town of Martina Franca in the other. While staying here you can take walks in the surrounding countryside and visit numerous pretty hilltop towns and white sandy beaches.

The home sits on three hectares of olive trees, shrubland, fruit orchards and prickly pears, this setting offers guests solitude and a serene place to walk and relax. If you need to pick up some groceries or dine out in the evening, you are only 600m away from a small supermarket and a traditional restaurant. There are a few small villages dotted around the nearby hills too such as Cisternino which is 6km away.

Cisternino is a white-washed village which boasts amazing views of the Val d'Itria. These views are best taken in as you tuck into a meal of freshly barbecued meats which is a delicacy here, prepared in front of you by the local butcher. While in the village you can take a walk around the atmospheric streets where you will see churches such as the Baroque Church of San Cataldo and a Norman-Swabian tower hailing from the 1200s. This little village often hosts parties and festivities for community events and saints’ days which you can join in with when visiting.

Martina Franca is another lovely place to visit and is located 8km away from the villa. The town sits inside its original, historic walls. Here you can shop in the artisan shops or at the bustling market which is held on a Wednesday and spans three full streets in the heart of the town. After picking up some fresh bread you can stroll around the picturesque streets, paying a visit to Baroque churches and the staggering Ducal Palace. Next to the Baroque half of town, you will find the ancient, whitewashed old town filled with more shops and little cafes where you can sip a coffee in one of the piazzas. This part of town is a great spot for sampling local olive oils and wines.

As well as visiting nearby villages and towns, you are well-positioned for day trips to Puglia’s beaches. If you would like to explore some wild, natural beaches then why not drive the 24km to the Parco Dune Costiere, a protected regional park on the coast. There are many pristine beaches here as well as marshlands, vast sand dunes, olive and juniper groves and plenty of birds and wildlife to look out for. On the park's website, there are numerous walking routes and trails you can follow around the coastline and through the rugged landscape nearby. If you prefer a beach which offers chic serviced beach clubs with sun loungers, changing facilities and eateries there are many to choose from including Lido Morelli which is 28km away.

From your base at the villa, you can also spend your time visiting some of Puglia’s best-loved cities such as the dazzling city of Ostuni which is 16km away. In addition, you can discover the charms of the Trulli towns of Alberobello (21km away) and Locorotondo (13.5km away).
