Location
About the surrounding area of HamamelisHamamelis’ convenient yet harmonious location means that every type of traveller can find their own niche in the sprawling region – whether it’s getting lost in nature, wining and dining in charming towns or catching ample sunrays by the sea.
The resort where the property is tucked away in benefits from a restored 18th-century villa that boasts a private spa and four restaurants, meaning you don’t even need to lift a finger to unwind in luxury. Take advantage of the estate’s first-class facilities and let the hospitable staff help you organise a mountain bike tour through the neighbouring vineyards, olive groves and orchards. Alternatively, the private park’s many wellness trails are best for getting your steps in.
For more restaurants and local amenities, head to the closest village, easily reached by car in just 5 minutes. The immediate area is famous for thermal baths and springs, with the wellness oasis Castel San Pietro Terme being located only a 10-minute drive away. The city is full of centuries-old churches, cobbled alleyways and cafés that help you to embrace a slower pace of life. Its world-renowned spa facility uses water from the healing Fegatella Spring and offers specialised treatments and services for those looking for hours of pampering. Just over 20 minutes’ drive away, the open-air museum Dozza belongs to one of the most beautiful mediaeval villages in Italy and boasts an ancient Sforza fortress alongside colourful murals.
For true hustle and bustle, drive to the region’s capital Bologna, only 30 minutes away. Home to one of the oldest universities in the western world, it houses many museums, galleries and notable buildings such as its two leaning towers and the 38 kilometres-long porticoes that are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
The east coast looking out to the aquamarine Adriatic Sea is studded with glorious swathes of pale-gold sand, where sorbet-coloured parasols stand neatly in lines like soldiers. Grab a sun lounger at the Singita Miracle Beach in Marina di Ravenna – the blanket-dotted beach is a popular spot for watching the sun slip behind the horizon or head to Rimini for a thriving nightlife scene and more beach clubs.
The swooningly romantic Venice can be reached in two hours by car, and so does Tuscany’s capital city Florence. Both amorous in their own way, they’re noted for their Renaissance architecture, monuments and beautiful historic centres belonging to UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
