Overview
There are sea views with a glimpse of Capri from this characterful villa which sleeps ten guests over five air-conditioned bedrooms. La Rocca is a short drive from the perched town of Massa Lubrense on the Sorrento peninsula, known as the legendary ‘Land of Sirens’. It is a lovely region of villages, harbours and panoramic views, often missed by holidaymakers keen to head to nearby Sorrento town and the better known Amalfi coast.
As well as the spacious main villa, there is a comfortable annexe with two bedrooms, living room, kitchen and small terrace, making La Rocca ideal for groups of family or friends who holiday together but relish some independence. One of the three bedrooms on the villa’s top floor has a private terrace, perfect for a quiet glass of wine before sunset.
Cook in the fully equipped main kitchen before getting together beneath the elegant arched ceilings of the living-dining area and throw open the doors to the terrace for a better view of the sea beyond. As you meander through the floors and staircases, appreciate the interesting features, fine furniture and artwork along the way.
Enjoy the hydro-massage feature in the pool, surrounded by olive trees and lawns with hammocks for shade and relaxation. There are more grassy areas for ball games as well as an acre of lush woodland to explore.
La Rocca is perfect for the discerning traveller who would enjoy a taste of of authentic Italy and a touch of adventure not far from fashionable Sorrento and Capri. A myriad of paths wind through hamlets, groves of olive and citrus trees opening up to fabulous sea views and a gentle descent to charming fishing villages, picturesque bays and rocky beaches.
There are daily boat trips from the harbour at Massa Lubrense to beautiful Capri with its yacht filled coves and upmarket shopping. Take the short drive to Sorrento, a small resort with a big reputation and once a destination on the 19th century European ‘Grand Tour’. There are train and boat trips from here to some wonderful destinations including Capri, Naples, Positano, the Amalfi coast and Pompeii.

Location
About the surrounding area of La RoccaLa Rocca is located on the Sorrento peninsula a short drive from the perched town of Massa Lubrense and many picturesque beaches. At the centre of the peninsula between the Gulf of Salerno and the Gulf of Naples, this is the ideal base for exploring Sorrento, Capri and the Amalfi coast.
The villa, set back from the road leading to Massa Lubrense, is five minutes’ drive from the centre of the perched town with its Antica Cattedrale, restaurants and shops and is the perfect place to enjoy a holiday in an authentically Italian setting. Across this area, imagine walking through fragrant olive and citrus groves, gently descending to picturesque fishing villages or taking one of the daily boat trips to the stunningly beautiful island of Capri from the town harbour below.
Next to the harbour at Marina della Lobra, around 5km away, is a small blue flag beach in the protected marine nature reserve of Punta Campanella. From Massa Lubrense there is a road down to the beach as well as an energetic walk down via steps and paths.
A little further away is the romantic Bagni della Regina Giovanna, a remote natural swimming pool and idyllic bathing spot. Hike, take the bus or even hire a canoe from Sorrento to find this unmissable place. Intrepid walkers will also enjoy the mountain hike from Nerano to Leranto Bay, a heavenly sandy beach with clear turquoise waters.
The azure sea is luckily never far away but there are some lovely inland villages to discover. It’s only a short drive eastwards from La Rocca to Sant‘Agata sui Due Golfi, situated at the foot of the Lattari mountains and famous for its panoramic views and many trekking routes, one of which leads to Sorrento. It’s well known for its restaurant serving delicious dishes made from local produce such as olives, lemons and cheese.
Beautiful Sorrento is only 9km away. Gaze from the cliffs across the Gulf of Naples before dining at one of the many restaurants lining Piazzo Tasso. Take a guided tour of this town so loved by Byron, wander into the shopping district or visit Museo Muta. You might be tempted to jump onto a high speed train to Naples, book a leisurely boat trip to Positano, Priano, Capri, Ischia or Amalfi, try out the spectacular Amalfi coast drive or take a day trip to Pompeii and Mont Vesuvius.
