A vacation in Villa Zenaida has the privileged panoramic position of a sweeping views over Mykonos old town and the crystal clear waters of the Aegean Sea. This beautiful modern villa is located on the west of Mykonos, one of the Cyclades islands, in the heart of the Greek Aegean Sea.

Villa Zenaida has seven spacious en suite bedrooms, five within the main house, and two in separate exterior suites. The villa can comfortably and stylishly accommodate up to fourteen guests, ideal for a large family gathering, or friend’s get together. This three hundred and sixty square metre villa is built over three tiered storeys, constructed out of classic white-washed Cycladic stone, and surrounded by tall palm trees and indigenous succulents. There is private parking for up to three cars, and the villa comes complete with complimentary air conditioning and Wi-Fi throughout. The interiors are luxurious, with high beamed ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows flood the villa with natural light. The villa is furnished with contemporary pieces, equipped with top of the range facilities, and decorated in an elegant palette of clean crisp whites, shades of grey, and beiges.

Enter the villa through the charming arched gateway to find a holiday home of open plan living with a fabulous view, with floor-to-ceiling sea view windows with billowing white curtains, that let in lots of natural light and air. The seating area has two gorgeous dove grey sofas and matching armchairs, a set of coffee tables, facing a flat-screen cable satellite television, with a DVD and CD player, modern art adorns the walls, and an open fire is there for the cooler months and evenings. Under the arch is a dining area with a smart ten seater table and chairs, ideal for some impressive indoor entertaining. The adjacent all white kitchen is fully equipped with everything you will need to cater for your holiday, including a built-in oven and hob, dishwasher and microwave, family-size fridge freezer, and that must-have morning coffee maker.

The entrance floor is home to two spacious bedrooms, both with double beds and en suite bathrooms. A handy guest cloakroom completes this floor. Take the traditional white Cycladic stairs to the upper floor, where there are further three double bedrooms. Two of the rooms have double beds, one is a twin with two single beds, all with en suite bathrooms, one with a bath and shower, and all have furnished balconies with stunning sea views. The ground floor is home to two large attached suites, both have twin beds, en suite bathrooms, and sea view verandas, and there is a shared kitchenette for making snacks or midnight feasts.

The terrace is the star of the show, with a superb step entry infinity swimming pool, long enough for a few lengths before breakfast. The pool is surrounded by teak decking, and for the ultimate in relaxation, it is populated with the biggest comfy grey cushioned sun loungers you ever did see. Take shade on a squashy bean bag and lose yourself in this year’s best seller. Catch up with friends and family at the stone seating with a sea view. Have an afternoon snooze on the built-in grey cushioned sofa under the shady pergola. Meet up for cocktails on the terrace as the sun sets over Mykonos town, before eating alfresco at the dining table with a view, with dishes freshly grilled on the barbeque.

What you should know…

  •  Villa Zenaida has a sister Villa Oasis, for a large party of guests, subject to availability, these two can be rented together.
  • The nearest beach is approximately two and a half kilometres away in the lovely village of Ornos, well worth the drive there
  • The villa commands stunning views of the town of Mykonos, but it is a bit of a steep walk down and back, we recommend taking one of the many reliable local taxis

Villa Zenaida is located on the hillside overlooking the old town of the jet set island of Mykonos, part of the Cyclades, in the heart of the Aegean Sea. The exclusive island of Mykonos measures only ten kilometres long by fifteen kilometres wide, so wherever you want to go it’s only a short drive away. The villa is just a few kilometres from Mykonos airport, which is served by both local and international flight operators.

If you are island hopping, then nearby Naxos and Syros also have their own airports. The nearest beach is at Ornos,  a short drive of two and a half kilometres away. The village of Ornos is to the north of the villa, with two beaches, streets lined with traditional tavernas and a harbour with boats that can take you to local beaches and nearby Delos. The coastline is populated by many beautiful golden sandy beaches and beach clubs, take your pick from the fashionable Buddha Beach Bar, the family-friendly favourite of Agios Stephanos, or party, party, party all day long on hedonistic Paradise Beach, with its crystal clear waters, restaurants, bars, and clubs with resident DJs, there’s something for everyone on the island of Mykonos.

During daylight hours play penance in one of the eight hundred churches that populate the island, most notably Paraportiani, which is a unique construction combining four styles of architecture, or nearby the church of St George Spilinnos, uniquely built into the cavity of the rocks. Take a short walk into Mykonos town, known locally as Chora. Here you can wander the maze of streets with the colourful Cycladic houses and beautiful bougainvillaea, and do some serious designer label shopping in one of the many luxury boutiques. Enjoy a moonlit dinner at a seafront restaurant of freshly caught seafood, whilst sipping ouzo, and watching the beautiful people pass by.

Find out the island’s history and culture at the Archaeological Museum, the Folk Museum, and the Maritime Museum, then go out slightly of town to Lena’s House to discover how the islanders lived. Take a walk up to the landmark windmills, or as they are known locally, Kato Mili, where once the wheat was ground to make bread and is now a mini museum and residencies. Walk along the waterfront to Little Venice, where the original and colourful merchant houses overhang the sea, and is now home to cafes, bars, restaurants, and galleries, best enjoyed at sunset with a retsina or two. Admire the Armenistis lighthouse, still fully functioning and an essential asset of Mykonos’ maritime history.

No visit to Mykonos is complete without a day at sea, join a catamaran jolly and snorkel in the sea. If you’re feeling flush, charter your own yacht and discover secret coves and hidden bays and beaches. For the romantics, nothing beats a sunset cruise, cocktail in hand as the sun sets over the horizon. Hop aboard a ferry for a day trip to the adjacent island of Tinos, see the landmark Renaissance-style Church of Panagia Evangelistria, tilt at windmills, visit the fifty villages, walk the ancient fortifications, and coo at the famous dovecotes. Further afield the uninhabited island of Delos is well worth a visit, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to the birthplace of Zeus and Leto, go with a group or arrange your own private tour.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

Your kids will just love a holiday on the island of Mykonos, and there’s a surprising number of fun and family activities to keep them amused. Starting with Villa Zenaida’s private infinity swimming pool, and as there are no set hours they can play and splash all day.

The coastline of Mykonos is dotted with lots of family-friendly beaches, many of which you can book ahead. We recommend Agios Stefanos Beach, with organised pre-bookable sun loungers and parasols, cafes, bars, and mini-marts, and shallow entry calm seas, and it is protected from the northerly winds. Your little daredevils can enjoy a selection of water sports, from fun rides to daring speed boats. Room Anastasia Beach is a bit further north, a family-friendly beach in a beautiful bay, with wooden sun beds and shady straw parasols. Your younger children may enjoy a visit to the Animal Organic Farm, where they can pet and feed the livestock, harvest seasonal crops, enjoy some time in nature, and keep them busy with some farming tasks. Whilst your older kids could take a hike over the island’s landscape, exploring the local flora and fauna, ending with a cooling dip in the sea. All of the family will love a day at sea, whether it is island hopping aboard a shared Catamaran, or chartering a private yacht and discovering secret coves and hidden bays and beaches, and swimming and snorkelling spotting friendly fish. For the thrill seekers, fasten your seatbelts on the Mykonos Rib boat, that wizz around the island. Keep the creatives happy with a mosaic workshop, or a family cooking lesson with a local chef teaching you all to make traditional Greek meze.

A trip to Mykonos town is a must and only two and a half kilometres from the villa. Wander the winding streets, shop for souvenirs, meet Petros the Pelican, the mascot of Mykonos, then enjoy a family-friendly meal in a seaside taverna. For your intellectually curious offspring, there’s the Archaeological Museum, the Maritime Museum, the Folk Museum, and Lena’s House, all within walking distance of the old town. A short walk along the seafront will take you to Little Venice, a pirate’s paradise of a maze of streets with colourful houses overhanging the sea. Tilt at windmills at the top of the town, the landmark of Mykonos, where they used to grind wheat and make bread for the islanders, now a mini museum and some are even residencies. The Lighthouse of Mykonos is seven kilometres northeast of the town, and well worth a visit for the stunning sea views of the island of Tinos, and to watch the boats arriving and departing from the harbour. Who would have thought it, but Mykonos is home to the best Go-Kart track in Greece, open every day from April until November from 10 am until 2 am, which should keep them occupied all day.

For those who prefer a more natural form of transport, they can mount a pony and go horseback riding in Ano Mera. If you want to venture further afield, a trip to the adjacent island of Delos is a delight, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the birthplace of Zeus and Leto, Apollo and Artemis, cross the water by private charter or a shared tour for a fabulous family day out.
