Experience the wow factor with a vacation in Villa Nigul, a property with maximum impact and minimalist interiors. This simply stunning new build, four-storey, detached villa is superbly positioned on the slopes of the exclusive location of Agios Lazaros, overlooking Psarou beach, on the southwest coast of uber fashionable island of Mykonos, in the heart of the Cyclades in the Aegean Sea. Boasting ten beautifully appointed en suite double bedrooms, the villa can comfortably accommodate up to twenty guests, ideal for a large family gathering, or friends’ get together celebration.

Villa Nigul comes with private parking for up to six cars, it includes complimentary air conditioning and Wi-Fi throughout, and each bedroom has its own flat-screen television. The villa has a Cycladic sculpted staircase and an internal elevator to access the different levels, The property commands sweeping panoramic vistas over the crystal clear waters of the Aegean Sea, whether you are on the terrace, your balcony, the infinity pool, or the Jacuzzi, that view is going to get you. The villa is constructed out of traditional Cycladic whitewashed walls, local stones hewn out of rocks form the support, tiled paving, and teak decking make the tiered terraces. The interior-designed indoor spaces are cool, contemporary, and classic, paying meticulous attention to detail, with only the very best appliances, natural woods and wicker, hand-cut marble, and a sophisticated colour palette of crisp clean whites, shades of grey, and creamy beiges. Floor-to-ceiling picture windows with billowing white curtains flood the villa with natural light, cools it down with soft sea breezes, and reward you with sea views as far as the eye can see.

Villa Nigul has a huge one thousand one hundred square metres of luxurious living space, starting at the middle level, first floor, with its own independent entrance. The open plan living space is furnished with oversized white sofas, and a wicker suite, a scattering of wooden coffee tables, a flat-screen television, contemporary artwork adorns the walls, handmade rugs cover the floors, and floor-to-ceiling sliding doors offer spectacular sea views and access to the upper terrace. The adjacent formal dining area is the ideal place for some impressive indoor entertaining. The all-white kitchen with a centre island and breakfast bar with stools, is fully equipped with the latest appliances to cater for your holiday, including an American-style family-size fridge freezer, and a built-in oven, hob, and microwave. The first of the ten bedrooms can be found on this floor, with a queen size bed, an en suite bathroom, and access to the sea view terrace. A handy guest cloakroom completes this floor. Take the stairs to the upper level, where you will find a one hundred and forty square metre master suite. The suite has two bedrooms, each with a king-size bed, en suite bathrooms with walk-in showers, one with a free standing bathtub, and private furnished balconies with panoramic sea views. Make your way to the ground floor where there are six large double bedrooms, all furnished with king or queen-size beds, en suite bathrooms, and five with sea views and access to the pool terrace. The tenth bedroom is located on the lower level, and has a queen size bed, an en suite bathroom, its own entrance with sea views, and best of all, it has a large window with a view underneath the water of the swimming pool, now that’s cool.

The outside space is an incredible one and a half thousand square metres, over two different levels. The ground floor is home to an infinity lap length waterfall swimming pool, with an adjacent heated Jacuzzi, and cooling pool shower. The pool is surrounded by white deep cushioned wooden sun loungers with matching shady parasols, strategically positioned on teak decking for maximum sea views. Pergola shaded soft seating areas are perfect for a morning coffee catch-up or cocktails at sunset. Meet at the bar for sundowners at sundown, before dining at one of the two immense tables under covered pergolas. Chose from the more informal eating area with a built-in barbeque, or opt for the other and have your dinner cooked by a chef in the fully equipped outdoor summer kitchen, and dine alfresco under a twinkling Grecian sky. The upper terrace has a further pergola covered lounge and dining area, and an outdoor gym where you can work it all off.

What you should know…

  • Villa Nigul has ten double bedrooms, all with king or queen-size beds, there aren’t any twin rooms or single beds, perfect for ten couples sharing or a large family get together
  • Although the villa has stupendous sea views, the nearest sandy beach is a couple of kilometres down the coast
  • We recommend hiring a car to make the most out of your stay and see all the sights you wish to see, although there is a very reliable local taxi and public transport network too

Villa Nigul is located on the southwest coast of fashionable Mykonos, part of the Cyclades islands in the heart of the Aegean Sea. The exclusive island of Mykonos measures only ten kilometres long by fifteen kilometres wide, so wherever you want to go it’s only a short drive away. The villa is just four kilometres from Mykonos airport, which is served by both local and international flight operators. If you are island hopping then nearby Naxos and Syros also have their own airports. The new port of Mykonos is a hub of activity for those landing and departing from island hopping ferries, or super yachts cruising the Aegean, and is a quick twenty minute drive to the villa. The villa is situated on a promontory of rocks in fashionable Agios Lazaros, overlooking the Gulf of Ornos, and the islands of Delos and Renia.

The village of Ornos is to the north, with two beaches, and streets lined with traditional tavernas and a harbour with boats that can take you to local beaches and nearby Delos. Villa Nigul is near to the village of Psarou, with a white sandy beach, and local shops for your holiday provisions. Nearby is Korfos for kitesurfing, and the fabulous uber trendy Buddha Beach Bar for some serious fun in the sun. Treat yourself to a luxury treatment at Santa Maria’s Ginkgo Spa. To the south is Elia and Agrari beaches, offering a selection of water sports, a children’s playground, and cafes and bars, and calmer sea waters than those in the north.

The coastline is populated by many beautiful golden sandy beaches, take your pick from nearby nudist Elia beach, to the family-friendly favourite of Plays Gialos Beach, or party, party, party all day long on Paradise Beach, with its crystal clear waters, restaurants, bars, and clubs with resident DJs, there’s something for everyone on the island of Mykonos. During daylight hours play penance in one of the eight hundred churches that populate the island, most notably Paraportiani, which is a unique construction combining four styles of architecture.

Take a visit to Mykonos town, known locally as Chora, and only four kilometres from the villa. Here you can wander the maze of streets with the colourful Cycladic houses, do some serious designer label shopping in one of the many luxury boutiques. Take a table at a seafront restaurant and enjoy a dish of freshly caught seafood, whilst sipping ouzo and watching the beautiful people pass by. Find out the island’s history and culture at the Archaeological Museum, the Folk Museum, and the Maritime Museum, then go out of town to Lena’s House to discover how the islanders lived. Take a walk up to the landmark windmills, known as Kato Mili, where once the wheat was ground to make bread, and is now a mini museum and residencies. Walk along the waterfront to Little Venice, where original merchant houses overhang the sea, and is now home to cafes, bars, restaurants, and galleries, best enjoyed at sunset with a retsina or two. Admire the Armenistis lighthouse, still fully functioning and an essential asset of Mykonos’ maritime history.

No visit to Mykonos is complete without a day at sea, join a catamaran jolly and snorkel in the sea, or if you’re feeling flush, charter your own yacht and discover secret coves and hidden bays and beaches. For the romantics nothing beats a sunset cruise, cocktail in hand as the sun sets over the horizon. Further afield the uninhabited island of Delos is well worth a visit, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to the birthplace of Zeus and Leto, go with a group or arrange your own private tour.

Kids

Best Suited For: All Ages
Ideal for Kids Ideal for Teens

Your kids will just love a holiday on the island of Mykonos, and there’s a surprising number of fun and family activities to keep them amused. Starting with Villa Nigul’s private infinity swimming pool, and as there are no set hours they can play and splash all day. Nearby is Psarou beach, and just along the coast Agrari beach offers water sports for your older children, and a playground for the younger ones, as well as a café and bar.

The coastline of Mykonos is dotted with family-friendly beaches, many of which you can book ahead, the villa is on the south coast, which has much calmer seas, and safer for children. We can recommend Agios Ioannis beach with an infrastructure with pre-bookable sun loungers and parasols, cafes, and calm seas, Kalo Livadi in the southeast has views over the Cyclades archipelago and the island of Naxos, and Panormos Beach offers a great restaurant with giant bean bags. Your younger children may enjoy a visit to the Animal Organic Farm, where they can pet and feed the livestock, harvest seasonal crops, enjoy some time in nature, and keep themselves busy with some traditional farming tasks. Whilst your older kids could take a guided hike over the island’s landscape, exploring the local flora and fauna, and ending with a cooling dip in the sea. All of the family will love a day at sea, whether it’s island hopping aboard a shared Catamaran, or chartering a yacht and discovering secret coves and hidden bays and beaches, and swimming and snorkelling spotting friendly fish. Keep the creatives happy with a mosaic workshop, or a family cooking lesson with a local chef teaching you all to make traditional Greek meze. A trip to Mykonos town is a must, wander the winding streets, shop for souvenirs, meet Petros the Pelican, the mascot of Mykonos, then enjoy a family-friendly meal in a seaside taverna.

For your intellectually curious offspring there’s the Archaeological Museum, the Maritime Museum, the Folk Museum, and Lena’s House, all within walking distance of the old town. A short walk along the seafront will take you to Little Venice, a pirate’s paradise of a maze of streets with colourful houses overhanging the sea. Tilt at windmills at the top of the town, the landmark of Mykonos, where they once used to grind wheat and make bread for the islanders, now a mini museum and residencies.

The Lighthouse of Mykonos is seven kilometres northeast of the town, and well worth a visit for the stunning sea views to the island of Tinos, and to watch the boats arriving and departing from the harbour. Who would have thought it, but Mykonos is home to the best Go-Kart track in Greece, open every day from April until November from 10 am until 2 am, which should keep them occupied all day. For those who prefer a more natural form of transport, they can mount a pony and go horseback riding in Ano Mera. If you want to venture further afield, a trip to the adjacent island of uninhabited Delos is a delight, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the birthplace of Zeus and Leto, Apollo and Artemis, cross the water by private charter or a shared tour for a fabulous family day out.
